first for 16:10

First for 2570p "the butthurt inducer"

X220 backspace key not working and sometimes randomly getting stuck? Any ideas?

third for 4:3

Second for 5:4 and remember to ignore autists of any kind.

Every StinkPad I've ever owned has had a noisy fan

hey hes back
you fix your shitty 2570p? what happened to it?

and this is a great remind to lean your fans boys.
if you can hear them its your fault

Nothing happened to it. Are you retarded?

Picked up a lot of 3 t400 laptops on ebay. Arrived a couple of days ago. Gonna libreboot one for myself and possibly give one to a friend of mine. Just waiting for some breadboard cables to begin the procedure.

The laptops are in good shape and I also got an ssd and 8GB for my thinkpad. I was a little mislead however...the item descriptions and pics didn't show webcam and they all came with them. I was curious as to how vulnerable a webcam is to hack into. Otherwise I might just try to remove it.

Cleaning it won't do shit if it's got bad or dry bearings

+ egpu master race

would you sell one? email if interested

oh there was a rumor going on that your shitbook broke and you couldnt post because you had a dumb phone
I normally dont believe Sup Forums but considering how inflated your ego is due to that glorified space heater
I mad an exception

What's the Dell equivalent of T420?

good point
clean, lube or swap out your fan if you can hear it

Latitude E6420

just unplug it user
or snip it off entirely

No, it didn't break. I just don't shitpost in every single lenovo marketing general shitthread like some of NEET trash here. But when I do I really enjoy the butthurt induced in lenovo fanbois.

I might. If the procedure goes well and I don't fuck up the board during process I might sell one for $100~

well anyway welcome back
your shitposting keeps the thread alive when all the burgers are asleep
also

pls we have dell people too now

k..keep me posted. email me so I can pester you in a month in case you forget.

Enjoy having your address posted here

enjoy your new christian singles account

Is laptopcloseout.com reputable ?

w/e I'm a christian anyways. Need a gf too

their price are at earshot range of newegg's
dont know whether you should trust them

hey guys idk if this is the right place to post this but my mum got a thinkpad x230 and whenever you boot it, it just turns itself off after 2 seconds anyone got any ideas my bet is on the charging cable because when i take out the battery it and plug in the charger it doesnt boot. anyone else had this problem? or knows a fix if its not the charger?

redpill me on dual core CPUs.
In the 400€ range is it worth getting them or should they be discarded?

depends on the cpu

There's bound to be another tpg thread. Check back about mid next week. I'll post update info here.

>cpuboss
stop embarrassing yourself, user.
Use geekbench or passmark to compare CPUs. NEVER use cpuboss, even when it's linking to passmark results.

Ok I will

Sounds like it's running from whatever residual charge is in the battery. The charger might be at fault. If not, then it's most likely a problem with the charger jack, or something on the motherboard. The charger jack is a replaceable module on ThinkPads, which plugs into the motherboard.

The easiest thing to do is try another charger.

yeah m8 thanks didnt know that the jack was replaceable when i go to the store tomorrow ill try another charger if that doesn't work then ill see if i can get a jack of amazon or some chink shit

take a grain of salt from cpuboss its a bunch of unreliable info

Pleb tier pajeet here.
Is this a good deal? X230, worthit.in/laptops/lenovo-thinkpad-x230, $320

Is there anything more comfy AND useful? I'm pretty sure you can survive university with that thing as long as you don't need 3D rendering.

Im the user that bought the T450s for 450 yuros. Wew, I got cold feet and canceled/ordered a refund on the order. I think I won't buy out of impulse ever again, thank you /tpg/

what you're buying instead?

Nothing for now. I thought on upgrading my shitty Lenovo B590 with a T450s but I think I'll just wait until october to see if the new Thinkpad Retro is worth its while.

The jewry in eBay is astounding here in Europe (bad specs at much higher prices than the USA).

Somebody? Anybody?

I'd recommend Arrow Direct, other options include Iron Mountain, Green Citizen, EPC if you want to go the reused market.

/tpg/ is slow, I don't know of anyone who is in India that posts here...

Could always try to do the Core 2 Quad mod.
I am considering shoving a W500 mobo into a T60p.

What is so wrong about CPU boss? did they do something for this criticism? I don't know any of this until now.

What should I be on the lookout for if I want to buy a T60 or any other 4:3 Thinkpad for just web browsing and some office work? Can you put SSDs in them?

they cherrypick passmark/geekbench results, while completely ignoring average results.
Passmark should be visited directly, because lots of retarded people submit reports of overheating CPUs which lowers it's score.

Anyone here with a quadcore in a T420? I read that it can be done but not sure if it requires modification or not. I got a i7-2720qm from some scrapped gayman laptop and was wondering if the 90w powerbrick and dock would handle it as a drop-in

So, is that photo in the OP supposed to be official and the laptop he's holding is the 25th Anniversary model or... what exactly is going on there?

Cooling is an issue too.

well considering that the t520 can do a quadcore cpu just fine I don't see why the t420 couldnt
just watch temps and if you have a dgpu turn it off
thats just a yoga

StinkPads are garbage

t420 can't handle quad cores without throttling

I've heard you can rig a W520 cooler in there and solve the throttling issues.

I highly doubt that, the cooler in my w520 is fuck huege compared to the one in my t430 and t420

Which is why the Dell Latitude E6420 is a superior device. Core i7-2760QM here in mine, runs without any issues, with the Nvidia Quadro GPU as well and the dual heatpipe HSF setup, I redo the Arctic Silver 5 twice a year, max temps full bore 92C without any problems at all, no throttling ever.

I love ThinkPads, I really do, but they are not better than most of the older Latitudes in many respects.

Apparently a lot of bits need to be totally removed.

Actually, I may be thinking of the T520's cooler.

hey guys, I have to choose between a T420 and a L512, which one do I choose?

You heard wrong. W520/T520 are 15,6" laptops with BIGASS heatsinks compared to T420. Stop spreading FUD.
The first usable 14" thinkpad that can handle quad cores is T430.

Neither. Get a MacBook

I'm not spreading FUD, I swear I've heard of somebody doing this.

X220

If I've got a x230 with a non-US keyboard, can I just swap it out for a x230 US keyboard and it'll work just fine?

Is there any way to get a classic keyboard for the x200 without functions keys? I hate them.

Yes.

Lol, no.

Does the same apply to the x220? I have UK ISO and thought I was stuck in this hell.

I thought ThinkPad users had some level of basic tech knowledge? Yes, retard.

goddammit Sup Forums, those were not the options.

Just double checking before I spend 20 bucks on a keyboard

His a XX30 owner. Those tend to be special kind of mentally challenged.

If a T420 comes with 4GB of ram, is that 2 x 2GB sticks? Can you replace only one of them?

Yes.

OK, captain pajeet reporting here....
That deal is expensive desu, try quikr or olx. If you are in Delhi, go to Nehru place™ or wazirpur market™....You'll probably even get one for as low as the Burgers have it for(~200$ +/- 50$)
Personally, I'd advise you to either buy 2570p over x230, (if you are looking for an ultraportable) or t430. I've heard that the build quality on x230 is not upto the mark(cracked palmrest over express card slot, gap between bezel and the screen, pieces of plastic falling apart etc).
Anyway, the x230s generally go for 13k-15.5k rupees for default config(4gb ram, 320gb hdd, i5 3320m). Do look for IPS displays when buying too, you might get lucky as the shop keepers can be morons and not know what they are selling.

I'm pretty sure one stick is under the laptop, and the other under the keyboard. What I'm wondering is if the machine will work with one 4GB stick and one 2GB stick.

Thanks user, ordering one now.

anyone PLEASE, do you know why my x230 throttles at 75 degrees ? Goes from 3-something Ghz to 2Ghz.

How is it connected?

could be one 4gb stick, could be 2gb sticks. And yes you can replace them.

I wish they would reveal the Retro so i can get disappointed and buy a current model

didn't want to pay thinkpad tax. coming next friday to monday

postal services are still in the fucking dark ages

>core2duo
Ya dun fucked up.

I'm a X230 owner too though, also an X220 (motherboard which I intend to build up as a project) owner. I just don't have the keyboard autism. Layout isn't great yes, but the keys feel amazing to actually type on. Chiclets also give a better sense of location, you can feel your way and know where your hands are without even thinking. I had a T61 at one point, the keyboard wasn't anything amazing.

its only going to be a shitposting linux machine anyway. i've got another laptop and desktop for mein gaymen

i'm sorry but in no conceivable universe is chiclet good

Ah, cool.

Wonderful subjective opinion. The very design of the keys makes the actuation and response much more satisfying. Do you have some experience with both and have anything to say about the actual key mechanisms and typing feel?

ok, fair. Chiclet keys are harder to distinguish because they are flat, and they have no feedback because of almost zero travel.

also, its almost impossible not to break the mechanism if you need to take it apart to clean it

I'm thinking of buying x260, is it a good model?

You could've gone for t60 or older models....You dun fucked up!

I'm looking to replace the SP3. Ideally something current gen. I'm in Ireland so it's difficult getting second hand ones that I can inspect in person.

Budget would be about 1,200 - 1,500 dollars.

I really need something that has good cooling, battery life, an SSD + HDD (can install one later on) and can be ugpraded to take 32GB of RAM eventually.

Also, I know it's thinkpad general but I assume the XPS series isn't part of business laptops?

Also is it worth getting longer warranty from Dell/Lenovo? I tend to take reasonably good care of my electronics.

expresscard to hdmi cable. eGPU is connected to the main monitor via HDMI>DVI cable. Power is provided via Dell DA-2 PSU. External fan is powered from unused 6pin 12V power connector with potentiometer in between.

t60 is too large (i wanted a 12" system) and they go for too much money due to thinkpad tax . anything older than a t60 would have been worse than this

>Chiclet keys are harder to distinguish because they are flat, and they have no feedback because of almost zero travel.

You're clearly not talking about the modern Thinkpad "chicklet" keyboard then.

The keys aren't flat and have a big amount of travel for a laptop keyboard.

>thinkpad tax
excuse me, what you mean by "thinkpad tax" ?

a t40 (a much older and slower laptop) was more expensive than the HP because its a thinkpad, so people run up the bids because Sup Forums has shilled them so much

Nicer things cost more money.
This causes Sup Forums to sperg out.

all chiclets are the same in comparison to a real keyboard, flat and poor travel. whether a particular model is allegedly slightly better is irrelevant as a real keyboard will always best it

oh, and a t60 is 4:3, so grills would mock me
