This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
>two watches Great if you're going for a soviet liberator look.

Is there a way to tell with 100% certainty this is radioactive or not?
Jayden Scott
Geiger counter.
Liam Phillips
I think that finding a watchmaker who'll service a landeron 48 for a reasonable price is a bigger problem.
Connor James
Where can i get one
Jaxon Ortiz
Amazon.
Grayson Murphy
The hour and minute hands have heavily patina'd radium paint between the metal. Zinc sulfide, the base material that does the glowing in radioactive paint, has a distinct change of color that goes to orange-brown with enough time.
It's definitely radioactive.
Parker Johnson
Sweet thanks
Luke Cook
I'm gonna buy this one.
I love the look and they pretty cheap too. Too bad the band isn't metal tho
Mason Myers
First for assembling your own watch. Im really tempted.
Brayden Gonzalez

Jacob Jenkins
Why? Coz they black? Are you racist, white boy? I don't want any of that silver or golden shit, it's visually appalling to me
Kayden Lee
> pretty cheap too I'm shocked. I'd never have know unless you told us.
Brayden Evans

Thomas Gutierrez
You wouldn't because they sell pretty visually similar watches also which cost up to two grand or more

Nobody has used watches since 2000 unless they're old or douches. Fuck off with these shithreads.

How long does that glow thing last on analog watches? I often wake up at like 4am and want to check time in pitch black without melting my eyes with a lamp
Jace Rogers
My prime day purchase. Not bad value, it'll hold me over until I decide I want a speedmaster. Some fun history, when the Americans were planning for their moon mission, Bulova and Omega were competing for standard adoption of their watches from the Astronauts. While Omega won and became widely known for the moon watch, another one of the astronauts decided he liked the American branded Bulova better. He proceeded to wear the Bulova on the moon to little public recognition. This watch is the limited edition recreation of the Bulova moon watch, built to NASA's specs, hence the similar features to the Speedmaster. It has an ultra high frequency quartz movement, rated at
James Thompson
Does the second hand sweep?
Carter Perez
Depends on the watch and how much sunlight you give it. When I go camping my SKX lasts easily all through the night until morning, but Seiko divers are known for having some of the best lume anywhere. Some of my other watches would definitely not last that long.
Carter Fisher
Not perfectly smoothly like the regular Precisionist movements, but 2 or 3 times per second. The chronograph sweeps the entire time.
Grayson Butler
I have a watch with the same movement, running seconds ticks at 2 Hz, chrono seconds are 8 times a second
Isaac Stewart
What do we think of the SRPA27K1 for a daily beater?
Adrian Sanchez
Out of curiosity, how long did a battery last in this movement for you?
Caleb Gutierrez
You'll be so lucky to get
Lucas Smith
Well I have tested my Bulova Accutron II with the UHF movement and 16 Hz secund hands by syncing it up to one of my atomic citizen watches promptly after the citizen finished syncing with the atomic time. Now we're about 5 months with >3 seconds of variation, so I'm quite happy with that.
Ryder Harris
I've only had mine about 8 months, so I don't know yet. I would presume with the small hand ticking twice a second only it would have significantly longer life than a regular accutron II as long as you don't go nuts on the chrono.
Mason Carter
Hey guys, just wanted to share a pic from my latest diving expedition! The bezel was super useful for timing!

Thoughts on the orient mako II?
Nolan Wright
good value for money . I can't decide between MakoII and RayII.. both are really nice. I prefer them to the seiko divers because they don't look like absolute shit but the lume on them is not as good and they are not actually iso rated but i doubt you are diving with it anyway so its what i would go for.
Samuel Turner
Looks like they made it out of carbon fiber
Nicholas Cox
I know, it looks great, i love carbon fiber look

>order DW-5600E >realize RIGHT NOW that I could have gotten a Mudman for not much more

I'd like a beater Day Date. Unfortunately I can't find pic related here anywhere (Germany) and Amazon only has the ones with the fake jewel dial for 300+€ which seems a bit steep for a watch that should cost less than half that. What to buy?
Jace Scott
thoughts?
Asher Lee
This would look great without all the bullshit on the dial
James Davis
Its actually required to be on the watch as part of the mil spec it has to meet. This is one of the reasons I find the watch interesting to begin with. it is also Iso certified has an sw200 movement tritium tubes and saphire crystal. It is around 650 dollar however . Curious to know if there are other watches you would purchase over this at that price excluding Seikos.
Michael Rogers
/wt/ convince me why buuying a Rolex 116410 is a bad idea
Nathaniel Ross
That looks super cheap.
Aaron Davis
Every asshole has one, but I suppose it's popular for a reason. I just find it incredibly boring looking. If I wanted a black dialed rolex it'd be an 114270.
Lincoln Jones
Guys, my watch lose a few minutes when changing into new date, should i get it service? Not by much, properly -3 minutes
Christian Cook
The minute markings on the bezel stop at 15. The cyclops is ugly.
Gabriel Walker
There is no 116410. I'm guessing that one in the photo is an early 14060 based on the tritium lume and two-line dial, is that what you mean? The 14060 is the last great classic Sub, it's the one I would pick if I wanted a Sub. It has modern features like a sapphire crystal and 3000 or 3130 movement, but the drilled lugs and aluminum bezel. It's cheap and common and elegant while also being the last Sub that you can really call a tool watch. It's the size and shape that God intended the Submariner to be, not the overgrown bloated maxi case modern Sub. And there's no ugly date on it.
Zachary Nguyen
>114270 I second this
Robert Harris
114060-0002 isnt bad. Only thing is its very expensive for what it is.
Asher Reyes
Fuck you're right. I meant 114060
No date with ceramic bezel in simpler terms.
Isaac Nelson
>114270 The only thing i don't like about it is no tritium, i want some patina damnit
Caleb Phillips
Nobody uses a watch for functionality anymore.
Thomas Nguyen
Find yourself a 1016 then, I'm sure it won't be too expensive :^)
Gavin Brooks
:(
Brody Murphy
This is the 114060. It looks completely different from the one you posted. I think it's really ugly, but I can't fault it on anything but aesthetics. It's still a very high quality extremely well made watch I guess.
John Cruz
Yeah make sure you get the pre double t gilt dial one as well.
