Idol trash here,
What's your setup like, user?

Modded HD600. My mods pointlessly add an inaudible 0.2 dB to 20 Hz and 20,000 response.

good post

Your opinion that that is a good post is invalid unless you can prove that you actually have the opinion that it is a good post in a double blind test.

good post

>tfw you bought a shitty DAC and now the -0.2 dB gap at 20 Hz completely ruined your headphones

Nosense aside, notice that flat midrange.
Fucking bliss.

I know everyone here hates Bluetooth, but I need them cause my phone's headphone jack is shit.

Has anyone tried these? Are they shit?

>XB
Get ready for some seriously bass heavy headphones, unless they for some reason changed the sound for the XB950s.

...

Oh goddamn it. Would you (or anyone) have any recommendations then? I'm trying to get some that aren't super expensive but it's honestly kinda hard.

...

Wow...look at that ear raping treble peak, 2db at 9k

I am literally deaf right now

The measurements are showing they're only mildly bass-heavy and a significant departure for the headphones shown in That being said
>bluetooth headphones that aren't shit

Okay so I just bought some Bose QC35 as a pair of NC on the go headphones, should I have gotten the Sony MDR1000X instead? Currently they both cost 350 USD

>bose QC35
Literally botnet.

>Bose

Are ATH-SR5's worth $170AUD/$130USD?

Satania a cute. A cute!!

>on-ear
Disgusting.

I post her just for you these days.

>on-ear
>$50
No.

Give me a better Noise Cancelling headphone then, they all suck but whats the better option?

Etymotic MK5
Passively blocks more sound than the Bose while sounding far better.
Etymotic ER-4SR if you feel like spending the cash.

Anyone know if the Akai Professional Project 50X is worth the price? They're currently 25 dollars.

Are Audioquest Nighthawks good value for money?

>Etymotic

Ear dildos AND treble rape

>passive
no. I need something that can actually block jet engine noise.

Anyone here use an LG V20 as their PMP??

What about the ATH-A550Z?

HD-25

Etymotics can block jet engine noise better than active noise canceling. Yes, really.

This is an accurate statement:
innerfidelity.com/images/BoseQuietComfort35WiredActive.pdf
innerfidelity.com/images/EtymoticER4SR.pdf
The Etys block out 5 dB more sound in the bass and mids and 15 dB more sound in the treble according to these measurements.

>that raw frequency response on the Etys
My dick. That is what perfection looks like in raw graph form.

For a non-dildo version, look at HD600.

What about HD650? Is there big difference?

Less neutral.
It deliberately does darker treble, more bass. It's made for people who prefer that signature.

>treble rape
That's Beyerdynamic you're thinking of. Etymotic treble is accurate and peak-free at proper insertion depth.

>zero treble

...

>literally no treble!!1oneoneeleven

The 4S does it better. Basically a perfect diffuse field curve. 4P is too laid-back.

I agree, and I haven't posted a 4P.

Also, I'm not sure if you're implying ER-4S > ER-4SR but that'd be wrong; they measure the same, and the SR's metal construction is greatly welcomed.

Well fuck my shit up, I was looking up innerfidelity's FR for the ER-4S, only got the 4P instead and then thought that was the one linked here.
iF's measuring is off, then - you can see the 7-8 kHz valley in your pic being on the same level as the bass and midrange with the 9-10 kHz peak being roughly +4 dB, but iF have that whole part around 4 dB lower, the 10 kHz peak there doesn't meet the 100 - 1000 Hz line.

>iF's measuring is off
I don't think we can safely make assumptions as to which measurement is "off."
innerfidelity.com/content/technologically-impressive-lcd-4-planar-magnetic-headphone-manufacturers-comments
innerfidelity.com/content/head-fi-contradicts-innerfidelity-sony-mdr-z1r-measurements
tl;dr: It's not uncommon for measurements by different people/equipment to differ drastically and there's a lot of potential reasons for this. It's complicated.

4S lacks treble to be a perfect diffuse field. The 4B is the perfect diffuse field model but it's too bright for music playback.

Yes, diffuse field perfection is bright sounding. The Sony MDR-V6 is actually about as close as headphones come to a perfect diffuse field tuning and they are bright sounding.

I'm looking for a decent studio reference headphones for music production

What's the second best headphone behind the HD600?

HD 600.
HD 580 was first.

These threads always went to the shitter when Senn shills are awake.

HD600, K701. HD600 needs a 5db dip at 6K and 9K to be non fatiguing for me.

>Magni 2

You're not even driving your HD600 to its max potential yet.

I don't believe this meme sorry.

>HD600 needs a 5db dip at 6K and 9K to be non fatiguing for me.
That's funny, seeing as it doesn't have treble peaks there:

I know. It's most likely my personal HRTF.

If you try to compensate by getting a headphone with more relaxed treble then you'll be missing out on detail in the surrounding frequencies. Precise HRTF-tuned EQ is honestly a superior solution to buying another headphone with more relaxed treble, but it's your money.

I use EQ already and enjoy my HD600s EQ'd. But at the same time I'm not too happy with the soundstage, it's too narrow for my taste.

EQ your K701s?

I can't manage to wrangle them to something acceptable.

At least half of my desire to get TOTL headphones is for build quality and feel.

head-fi.org/f/threads/how-to-automatically-eq-your-headphones-to-online-measurements-a-step-by-step-guide.854773/ try this on your K701 while you wait for new cans. It might get you close enough to where you can get it acceptable through Sinegen high frequency filter refinement.

What are some recommended dacs that can just about power anything. I was looking into getting either a nfb-11 or jotunheim,. are there any alternatives, or are either of those worth the price?
Thank you for your time!

I've haven't tried this method but I doubt it would be better than sonarworks (which I found entirely lacking). I'll give it a shot over the weekend and see what happens.

I had an Aune X1S for a few months, it worked pretty well.
It supports 348kHz 32-bit PCM, as well as DSD128 in DoP format.

>Sonarworks
Interesting. Did you try refining their EQ settings via Sinegen? I can't imagine a service like that would work well if you don't further refine their filters to your own HRTF with something like Sinegen.

/r/avexchange faggot
NFB-11's pretty neat for a DAC/amp combo, Jot is a meme.

Nah, I didn't. But I balked when I heard what it did with the HD600 (not EQ'd at the time) and uninstalled the software. I later found through trial and error my treble sensitive points.

Yeah, treble response EQ absolutely requires Sinegen filter refinement. Even in-ear probe mic measurements or measurements by dummy heads made with molds of your own ears aren't enough to EQ treble response alone as they won't account for acoustic impedance mismatches between transducer, ear canal and ear drum which can create treble peaks that even the probe mics won't pick up.

They are not. I don't have them but I am looking for a pair of cheaper headphones that I can use in areas with lots of sandniggers and other high-risk situations where I don't want to wear expensive headphones.

Just look at all the one-star reviews on Amazon for these, a whole lot of people give reviews - with pictures - that say that these fall apart after just weeks of normal usage. Big red flag right there.

100$ Canadian budget, wanting to get some decent consumer headphones for a ton of music listening/watching streams/movies/video games preferrably with a removable cord as I will be wearing this pretty much all the time when I'm in the house and I'm sure wear and tear will have a toll.

Is the best I can get the AKG K240s?

Look into the SHP9500S.

CB-1

I have a Fiio E10k. Should I go with DT770 Pro 80s or 250s? I'm using HD600s atm but I tried a different headset with better highs and it sounded a lot better, and which are isolated. So... 80 ohm, or 250? What do you prefer? I also play a lot of CS and audio directional games.

First time here.

Still not sure, look below. I will also need to transport them quite a bit.

>Comfort level
I just need the headphones not to crush or sever my ears. I don't know if closed/open will influence this.

>Sound signature
Neutral, I guess. I just need more bass than the common cheap IEM usually offers.

>Past headphones
I don't remember the model. They were JVC's and cost me about 60€. Pic related not correct, but looked like it.

What I hated about them was that it dug into my head and after a couple of hours my head and ears were really tired.

Why does this idol trash have so much bass?

I mean what do you expect from a headphone marketed as eXtra Bass? They're not trying to deceive or fool you, they're being completely honest about what you're getting.

This

Though if you don't mind waiting from china you can get the Somic MM185 (The Status Audio CB-1 is a clone). The MM185 only ships from china from what I see though.

NVX XPT100 or the Spadger CD 990(open version) are also good options.

I own the XPT100 and it's max comfy.

The general consensus is that the higher Ohm Beyers sound better (with the 600 Ohm sounding the best) but the trade-off is that you need a serious enough amp to drive a 600 ohm or it's not even going to sound as good as an 80 ohm. The E10k should drive the 250 fine, so unless you find the 80 significantly cheaper I'd recommend the 250 to you.

Why do people do this?

Are they just retarded?

Holy shit, you're fucking rich.
Can you buy me an X-6 DAC?

My headphones are out of phase.
How can I fix this?

Would Sonarworks do a good job of making my DT 880s less bright?

Is it just me or are the DT990s muddy? I'm not getting a lot of instrumental separation, everything just kinda blends together.

any decent sound card recommendations?
i have been using a pair of fidelio x2's but i think i could do better than just on-board audio that i've been using

looks like any of the ones around $30 - $50
could get the job done but i don't know which one to trust desu
