Unix time (and Sup Forums filenames) are going to roll over from 1.4 billion seconds since January 1st 1970 to 1...
Vintage timestamps anyone? Who's been around this shithole longer?
man, this shit makes me feel old. I remember when we were at 1 billion like it was yesterday, well mostly because 9/11 was a couple days after, but still.
>Thu May 27 03:16:55 2004
How do I know you're not faking it with a believable timestamp, my boy?
Neat idea. This is the oldest thing I have readily available, for older stuff I would have to check my backups.
You'll just have to trust me. Have some pre-Sup Forums memes.
I really wish I started hoarding images from this site sooner.

Get on my level.
Noice.
>tfw rename all files to make them easily searchable
>tfw run them through an image optimizer and lose the download time
Oh well.
Found some 2004 vintage wallpapers too.
Damn I remember that image, too.
You also destroyed your image hashes, unique signatures that could have been used by something like Hydrus to tag your media.
remember when this thing took up almost a third of your goddamn screen

linux was literally designed around planned obsolescence. but considering by the year 2038 it will still never be a true desktop OS no one will notice
It's not very old
This is Linux. My filesystem is 128 bit and my timestamps are 32, nigga. Now, get the fuck out my thread and if I see you in the catalog, I'm slapping the shit out of you.

i have a bunch from 2006.
How can I tell the age of an image by its filename? I don't get it
hello newfriend. filenames of images, minus the last 3 digits, are unix time. paste it into a unix time converter and you'll get the date.

You won't be around here much longer when ISPs soon shutdown Sup Forums.

Same thing happened to me. I had some fresh old memes in there
What's stopping someone from forging a timestamp?
Nothing, Sup Forums x already has an option to randomize a timestamp from last year.
well we'll have some evidence of the upcoming epoch, at least, with archives and so on.
That's definitely a good start to a collection of images saved from Sup Forums.
>server seized immediately after archiving due to the amount of CP threads

Oh boy, another 30-40 minutes left till 1.5 billion.
>At 02:40:00 UTC on Friday, 14 July 2017, the Unix time value will equal 1,500,000,000 seconds.
>At 03:33:20 UTC on Wednesday, 18 May 2033, the Unix time value will equal 2,000,000,000 seconds.
>At 06:28:16 UTC on Thursday, 7 February 2036, Network Time Protocol will loop over to the next epoch, as the 32-bit time stamp value used in NTP (unsigned, but based on 1 January 1900) will overflow. This date is close to the following date because the 136-year range of a 32-bit integer number of seconds is close to twice the 70-year offset between the two epochs.
>At 03:14:08 UTC on Tuesday, 19 January 2038, 32-bit versions of the Unix time stamp will cease to work, as it will overflow the largest value that can be held in a signed 32-bit number (7FFFFFFF16 or 2,147,483,647). Before this moment, software using 32-bit time stamps will need to adopt a new convention for time stamps, and file formats using 32-bit time stamps will need to be changed to support larger time stamps or a different epoch. If unchanged, the next second will be incorrectly interpreted as 20:45:52 Friday 13 December 1901 UTC.
>At 06:28:15 UTC on Sunday, 7 February 2106, the Unix time will reach FFFFFFFF16 or 4,294,967,295 seconds which, for systems that hold the time on 32-bit unsigned integers, is the maximum attainable. For these systems, the next second will be incorrectly interpreted as 00:00:00 Thursday 1 January 1970 UTC.
>At 15:30:08 UTC on Sunday, 4 December 292,277,026,596, 64-bit versions of the Unix time stamp would cease to work, as it will overflow the largest value that can be held in a signed 64-bit number. This is nearly 22 times the estimated current age of the universe, which is 1.37×1010 years (13.7 billion).
reminder to upgrade your computer before december 292,277,026,596.
I wonder what stuff will fuck up in 2038 though.
is it possible to get 1500000000000 filename?
I think it's almost impossible. I made a program to check for images and ran it on Sup Forums: it is hard even to find 3+ images in the same second.
yes but you have to literally be a wizard as 10ms too soon or too late and you miss it.
The only conceivable way to do it would be to have a whole bunch of bots attempting it at roughly the same time. One of them might get it.
>the lowest date that can be represented in a standard Unix timestamp is Friday the 13th

>for some retarded reason
Storing files with their hash as a filename is much better than using timestamps, though.
It makes it easier to identify and find files, and avoids shit like images being overwritten by others when two people upload an image at the exact same time.
