Should I support KitKat in my apps? Does anyone actually use it in the US still? Or is it just Pajeets in india that are inflating the market share?
Should I support KitKat in my apps? Does anyone actually use it in the US still...
>As of July 6, 2017, statistics issued by Google indicate that 17.1% of all Android devices accessing Google Play run KitKat.
Yes, but that's not US specific, so it could be like 5% in the US, and 50% in india
you should support 4.3 user
>t. blackberry 10 user
If you're not just supporting Android 8.0, KILL YOURSELF
Wait, blackberry os isn't Android based is it?
I'd like to support only 6 and above, but I can't find US based data. So I can't tell if the whole "20% of a 4 year old OS" shit is accurate
Checked
ABSOLUTELY, YES.
You'll unironically be missing out and suffering the loss of a 50% larger customer base.
SOOOO many androids in use still use KitKat, and especially in the poorer countries. I honestly don't know how some user hasn't already come out and blatantly told you this.
are there any programmers on Sup Forums left?
I would. I'm running nougat on mine though. KitKat is still supported, so yes, I'd support it.
no its not but it runs android 4.3 in a subsystem
also is abandonware
>completely made up number that has already been given correctly elsewhere in the thread
>OP specifically said that he only cares about the US

Probably the bulk of 4.4 users are the people who don't really change their phones unless the previous one dies. Either because they don't care enough to get whatever's hot or because they don't have the cash to. Does it matter as far as your apps go? Are they your target base or can you forego them?
The whole point is that OP doesn't give a fuck about non-US.
Settle down Pajeet. Developed countries arent stuck on 4

Thanks this helps. I wasn't sure if budget phones still shipped with 4, or it was mainly people who don't have a reason to upgrade if their phone still works.
I'm the type of person who needs to have the latest build on my device, so I was having trouble figuring it out
OP doesn't care about supporting India. Probably because indians are cheap and leave bad reviews when they're too dumb to use the app, or if it's missing a small feature
i use kitkat still.
i do not use play.
im using slimkat, no gapps, i use fdroid
these posts reek of curry and unclean streets
There are 300-400 million people using KitKat so by not supporting it you're missing out on a lot of people
KitKat is the Windows XP of android versions
