Is it true that current devices (especially cellphones) are designed with a hard coded life expectancy of 2 years? I had a Galaxy S4 for 2 years give or take and its motherboard died, so I got an S5 (big mistake) and it was ok, but now it recently turned 2 and the phone started shutting down when having 20% battery. I bought a new battery, which fixed the issue...for 3 months, and now the same shit happened but at 80% and the battery fucking poped. My friend told me that they really don't last more than 2 years.

Why's that? My brother still has a functional first gen iphone, hell I don't think its even first gen, I think it's BEFORE that, like the prototype

It is called Planned obsolescence.

I still have a working S4 been using it since s4 came out

uhhh

I still have a galaxy s2 and a HTC G2 working fine to this day.

galaxy s line has always been good
plenty of people with s3's that still work well

you can say that. however you can prolong the life of a device very much with a little effort.
phone? custom roms. / battery replacement, computer? lightweight distros. / hardware replacement etc.

Are you kidding me? There has been a fuckload of issues with the galaxy line, especially the galaxy s3, it's incredibly rare to see those phones making it past the 1.5 years mark.

The s4 was a bit better but it still gets fucked mainly because the phone sucks at telling when should each of the processors be used, so the heavy load processor ends up being selected most of the times when it's really not needed and it reduces the integrity on the long run.

tell me about the j3

What about it ? It's a cheap entry level phone what you see is what you get. J5 has 16GB and 13MB camera over J3 8GB and 8MB. Actually Huawei Y5II has identical spec as J3 but its usually €50 less.

was just curious about what you thought of it. I've had it for maybe a year and been pretty satisfied

>Satisfied
If it had less bloatware (1.5 gbs of free space) and didnt freeze up it would be perfect. But for $50 it's not bad

i got a oneplus 2 and its pretty good. and a netbook for 10 years

I dunno. My S5 is still doing great and I got it right when they launched. I was waiting on the S8, but when I got a look at it, Samsung is dead to me now. My S5 has hit pavement many times. It's been in a toilet. It's been in the ocean. I've broken 4 ballistic glass screen protectors and one case on it. It's fine. The S8 didn't survive the first level of SquareTrade's drop test.

mine is 16 GB not including micro SD card and was $220

I still have my S3. It was originally a CDMA Cricket Wireless version and I put a T-Mobile logic board into the body. The camera is really sensitive now a bump and the camera refuses to work unless the phone is opened up.

Still on an s3 with kitkat
Works just fine

Maybe you are a piece of shit who can't take care of his things

That works? I want to drop in the 9305 board from the quad core 2 GB RAM South Korea model into my T-Mobile model. The nood lifeproof case is too good.

>Samsung
My HTC One M8 doesnt suffer from this issue.

It worked for me it might vary with you.

It's all about the batteries that you can no longer replace (easily).

gtfo Sup Forumsigger

been using a moto g 2nd gen for almost 3 years.

it is pretty slow now and the 8gb internal storage is ass so i may upgrade soon but it does the job for now.

I've had my iphone 6 plus for 3 years, and I feel zero desire to upgrade. Nothing is broken, it's still in good shape. People just fucking suck at taking care of their shit. It's appalling to me how quickly people can wreck their shit.

>I've had my iphone 6 plus for 3 years, and I feel zero desire to upgrade.
until a new ios update makes it unusable you gigantic cuck

I'm on iOS 10. Considering even in leafland the longest cell contract is three years, three years of use with no performance degradation, and three major updates is pretty good.

No, it's contrived durability. Planned obsolescence just means it won't do modern stuff after an amount of time. Has nothing to do with durability.

Samsung is just shit. Most smartphones are chink shit no matter the brand. Don't spend a lot of money, they aren't worth it. eBay and craigslist are your friend.

>13MB camera
do you know how to Sup Forums?

>kitkat
why?

>until a new ios update makes it unusable
This doesn't typically happen with iPhones. It has, but they're the exceptions. I ragequit Applel after I updated my 3G to iOS 4. Four years with Android shit led me back to the Church of Jobs.

Bloated phones get killed faster, unless you change their software. My nexus 5 has 4 years and it's in perfect conditions.

>had a sony
>it won't die
>drop it
>still alive
>sold it for $15

I have an s3 mini that laggs like a motherfucker with whatever rom I throw at it but still just werks
