Audiophiles are objectively crazy

Prove me wrong

(protip: you can't)

If anybody tries to argue otherwise, that's how you know they are an audiofool

I can't

We're not crazy. We are just sonically trained. If you can't hear the difference between 500kbs and 320kbs, you are either
>A poorfag with a shitty or no audio setup at all
>Deaf
>Or a filthy casual.

I think he is referring to cable fags.

Do you think you enjoy music more than someone who listens to it in, say, social settings? With people?

Would you say this hobby makes up some real happiness in your life, from the higher quality audio you're trained to enjoy?

Reminder of is the patricians audio file

>he doesn't appreciate music
kys

Should have just got a better insulated power cable.
It's the only think there causing significant interference. Spending stupid amounts on two other cables is just dumb.

I wonder, as an opera enthusiast, if an audiophile with a multrigrand investment get the same sound that you get in an opera house or something like this. A few years ago I do listen to flacs and lossless audio believing that was a good audio quality, in a 4500 usd Rockford equipment, until the first day that I actually went to this opera house and oh my fucking good I didn't know what good sound was till that day.

what does your title have to do with the image?

>Not posting one of those turbo autismo "portable" audiophile setups where it's a battery pack, phone or dedicated media player, and a dac amp combo all daisychained and held together with rubber bands

...

looks decent. i wouldn't call it portable anymore though. maybe slap a 20000 mah powerbank to it as well when you are at it.

>mp3
>youtube to mp3

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>Not realising that the rubber-bands internal tension will create static electricity that will make noise in the amplifier.

Need cheap decent banana plugs from eBay or Ali. Any recs?

This.

What happened to the audiophile generals here? Did they all leave?

You don't need banana plugs.

Get some equipment that uses screw-terminals or clamps.

You could kill someone with that.

the first pic has audiophile-grade rubberbands so it's not a problem there, the second one is problematic though

You don't need anything to really enjoy music.

I have it but it's just uncomfortable.

Nothing replicates live audio. Nothing.

What about VR headset?

petty miners wont crowd the code

petty miners can't melt steel beams

>70% volume
Reeeeeee

>just listening to opera
Do you encode your movies to lossless too?

>61375037
Damn, VR, our kryptonite.

I can hear the difference between FLAC and MP3 320kbps CBR on a number of tracks.

/hpg/ is still around, but since JDS Labs, HiFiMeDIY, and Schiit started making really good stuff at reasonable prices, there's not really any need to discuss Amps/DACs in depth.

>cheap
>decent
Pick one.

Probably. Honestly in double-blind tests it's not hearing a difference that I find challenging, it's telling which one is actually superior-sounding. I don't know.

I'm more concerned with the compositional qualities of a tune than the sonic quality. If I can hear all of the instruments that are there, I'm good.

Beyond that it's impossible to tell what's "better", it's just different.

>implying audiophiles aren't turbo autists that just use music to listen to their equipment

enjoying that 2.2 volts of DC going into your headphones every time you switch your amp off?

No I go watch them film it.

Every time I ask what level the system volume should be set at I get told "don't worry about it, software volume doesn't actually do anything." Is this some sort of ebin audiophile maymay? What should I set the system volume to and why shouldn't I use it to make things louder or quieter instead of the gain knob on the amp?

You should aim for the highest sound level out of the computer/DAC. Since it will raise the volume of your music higher off the noisefloor of the components.
Your amplifier still needs to support the line level you give it, but that shouldn't a problem if you stay within line-level.

>audiophile
>DAC

Placebos can work better than the real drug. The mind is a hell of a thing. Let them live in their expensive fantasy land.

You will need a Digital to Analogue Converter no matter what, unless you listen to tape and vinyl records like me.

Stay mad earlet

pretty sure audiophiles learn about about media sound quality before they learn about gear quality so your picture doesn't make sense unless theres a large comminity of so called audiphiles where the inverse is true.

>$10k fuckhuge analog cables instead of $1 cable and digital transmission

That's just bad engineering

A good recording and a good DAC have higher fidelity than Vinyl as they have a finer resolution than physical resolution of Vinyl.

Unless you want to listen to mastering tapes, you're better off digital.

On the other hand, it's easier to get reliably good quality audio on the cheap with Vinyl.

What exactly is this Nikola Tesla bullshit I'm looking at?

Looks like leaf spring speakers.

you forgot my case
>having problems to find 500kbs material

nah

>insulting Tesla by comparing him to puny audiophile autism

He got memed hard.

...

I'm not Audiophile as I listen to cheap china FM radio most of the time and got no problem in doing so. That said, I heard good sound quality a few times by chance. Enough to understand that there is a difference and kind of see what Audiophiles are all about. You wouldn't understand it if you didn't hear it for yourself. Maybe that's why I can listen to cheap Radio, because most things sound like crap in comparission to the real thing.

They're multi-directional tweeters.

Pic related is the most autistic setup I can find online. Prove me otherwise.

is this 3dcg?

We know that there is a whole bunch of crazy overpriced bullshit audiophile products. We've had this thread about 1.5billion times so please stop making it.

Bullshit, I saw Metallica last month and couldn't hear anything but kick drum. Two weeks later I saw Iron Maiden, sat directly behind the mixing desk and couldn't hear Bruce's vocals

I think he means a concert in a venue that has actual acoustical design and a competent sound crew. Seeing Iron Maiden in concert sounds awesome, but I doubt they put any thought into the acoustics past "just don't blow the speakers".

how is that autistic it looks pretty modest

We're talking about music though

>how is that autistic it looks pretty modest
Look up altman terra player. It's pure autism that physically manifested itself into a dap.

I saw Maiden before and it wasn't nearly as shitty as this. Granted this was an arena and last time was outdoors

That's probably why. In an arena everything just bounces around until it blends together.

I care more about archival. Having FLACs means I can convert my shit to whatever the latest and greatest format is with no quality loss.

As far as audiophiles being crazy, the diminishing returns hit at way different points for different components. For example, I have $1000 speakers hooked to a $30 used yamaha home theater receiver with monoprice speaker wire and it sounds 99% as good as the same speakers connected to a fancy amp with snake oil cables. It's not crazy to dump money into speakers, and it's not crazy to dump money into amps (until you can sufficiently drive the speakers). It is crazy to dump money into cable risers and 0 gauge solid gold wires.

Too bad by the time you can actually afford all that shit, your ears have degraded to the point where it's a waste of time. That old man is wasting his money.

Theres a fine line between actually useful and sonically beneficial audio tech and stupid shit like 5 inch thick braided shielded platinum oxygen free 24K gold tipped cables with granite cable risers and isolated power conditioners. Proper amplification, some restored vintage speakers if you can restore them, and high quality FLAC's/DSD's is really all you need.

Holy shit

Yeah, ive never heard of anything in 500kbs.

Eh, not quite.

You do gradually lose the higher frequencies in particular but that doesn't mean that you can just go out and buy cheap shit and it will perform just as well in the lower and mid ranges.

True, the majority of the shit they are buying is useless or has such a minuscule effect that it can only barely be measured but there's no reason why you shouldn't invest in good quality sound just because you are older.

something tell me that that thing is stuffed with chinkshit lmao

Audiohiles are actually audiophobes.

Any hobby that's mundane enough has that subgroup of retired boomers who want nothing but to beat their meat over minute gains.
For example in the shooting community, there's these "rail" guns that have little to no practicality in any realm of marksmanship, and exist solely for boomers to circle jerk over how much they paid the machinist and the fractions of a millimeter in their grouping. You're no longer training to become a better shooter, and instead chasing the dragon that is the epitome of diminishing returns.

I'm listening to Concerto Fantastico - Adagio Sostenuto (L'Aurora) on my 122dB SNR system and all I can hear is the violinist repeatedly breathing thru his fucking nose. WTF.

This is a picture of an audioretard adding "electrical noise filtering" to his DRAM power.

>posting irrelevant shit
>instead of the actual audiophile anime episode
Retard.

I'd trust a studio guy to know his head from his ass more than an audiophile. Their asses ride on good sound, not snobbery.

>listen to their equipment
Deep, faam.

live audio mostly sucks unless it's acoustic and in a nice setting

My father is a studio guy. Shockingly, he nor anybody he's worked with has felt the need to filter the power to their RAM.

Right. Then again, studio guys would never be caught dead
>using the onboard DAC on a PC motherboard or sound card
That's just too keked for words.

>Tera Player

This is the most Jewish setup ever made on this thread

What video is that from again?

Never mind, found it:
youtube.com/watch?v=L34S4Tt1EuQ

i'm a huge music nerd and used to be a touring musician. my ears are shot to shit, A because I'm old B because all the noise damage

unless you're like 17 years old, you literally won't be able to hear all the extra frequencies that expensive things offer.

i use monoprice headphones that cost 20 dollars. my only concern is that headphones have enough headroom not to distort at loud volumes. i used to fall for the 'tube warmth' meme too as a guitarist, but i promise all you kids that digital shit can mimick it.

everyone uses pro tools and amplitube in the studio these days. so much easier and more tweakable and reliable than lugging in a 3,000 dollar tube head and trying to mic that shit up.

audiophiles are just burning money if they are older than 25 or have been to more than 10 loud concerts. you don't have dog ears you fucking weirdos

i wanna see somebody with grey hairs blindfolded who can tell the difference between the 3,000 dollar headphone amp and an iPod

>she succ but nutt still fartt

>The product description reads like a smug Sup Forums post
If only there was an archive of how it used to be. This current iteration is pretty tame compared to how it was in the past.
Also it debuted at $1200 (maybe more) iirc, portapros with a specific mod were suggested, had limited storage, and only .wav capable.

So their are better and worse sound systems and after a certain point compression can cause issues but if you're talking about extremes I agree

Audiophiles aren't people m8.
They're like the furries of "nerd" community basically. Disgusting, oblivious, delusional, and degenerate with too much money to spend on shitty gimmicks

I bet they'd dislike it because it doesn't sound like their system at home

odac and cmoy amp if youre wondering

>Test them and they won't know the difference.
