Guts Thread

Guts thread, progress edition.

What are your recent or planned updates to your rig?

Pic related, I made a lot of mistakes building my first pc last year and have made quite a few changes since then

Nice, looks quite like the system I want to build in a few Months.

I got a RX 480 Nitro+ OC,
want to buy the Corsair H110i, the Phanteks Eclipse P400 Tempered, but in a modded, more silent style (from caseking.de).
But as finish, I want to add some UV LEDs and UV reactive paint to "pimp" it even more

At the moment, I got some FX-8320 and 8GB DDR3 Ram, but some games are quite slow though

Have you considered selling your 480? I know ethereum prices are down but 480's are still going for $400 plus. That's why I sold mine to get a 1080

I considered it, but selling it and buying a new one would also cost me even more money. And used ones are going over the counter here in Germany for around 280€-350€. So I wouldnt do much profit

But I would maybe sell my old parts as a "upgrade kit", with my MoBo, the old CPU, Cooler and RAM, and could get at least some money

...

Ah that makes sense, I didn't consider how the prices varied in Europe. I sold my rx 480 here for $465 and bought a 1080 on sale for $490, so a really inexpensive, huge upgrade

...

No friggen clue what to do next.

a 1080 for around 500$?!
Here they are around 600€, but I would not even bother to take the next bigger step and buy the GTX 1080 Ti, but with 800€ it is even more expensive.

I will stick to my RX 480, and will get some nice fresh Ryzen 7 1700 (OC of course) with some neat X370 Motherboard and fast 3200 RAM.

Your RAM seems to be quite low.
Maybe some false auto detection of the MoBo?

Also, you should consider to OC your CPU a bit, i think your Cooling solution should withstand the additional heat

Ya I managed to sell my 480 at the perfect time when mining was just taking off and AMD prices were super high, but before they dried out the market so much that the nvidia prices started rising as well. Either way, those sapphire 480s are awesome cards and I definitely would have still been happy with it had I not gotten the nearly free upgrade

show me your Define S guts niggas

A good friend of mine is hanging on his R9 290 the whole time, waiting for AMD Vega ^^ We both hope the best for the end of July

I think with speccy sometimes when it's dual channel it divides it by 2, so it's most likely 2400mhz ram

Dont worry its just speccy its running at 2400 like supposed to. The cpu is overclocked to 4.2 ghz. I have messed with it but usually gets too hot under max load with anything higher.

Honestly that's a pretty solid system. The only thing you really need would be a decent case, that chassis makes your rig seem shitty until I looked at the specs closer. Plus a better cpu cooler and maybe some sleeved cables if you're really looking to get fancy

Well. then it seems to be a quite stable and good build. It wont need anything the next years, only a full new build could be better

I dont give a shit about the case cause its actually better than most the cheap built cases since its all steel cage and plates. I havent found anything besides getting an ek system that would fit in the case. I cant find myself to pay for sleeved cables since no benefit besides looks.

be quiet bronze to ss platinum/titanium 750
NF-A8 intake next to the gpu

How do I go about mounting an intake when ther is no place to mount it. Also why change the psu when it works perfectly fine in the peak efficiency zone?

How about getting a non-piece of shit stock HP case like others have mentioned

Because the case is fine and I dont care about "aesthetics" also it houses my 3.5" ssd bay unlike every other case that doesnt allow disk drives anymore.

I never mentioned aesthetics, you're already complaining about the limitations of fan mounts for the case. And I don't know what you're talking about, nearly every case nowadays, save ultra small ones, has multiple 3.5" bays

Okay then point me to a case with a 3.5" front mount bay and ill gladly consider it. The cooling has been fine I just ran a test at 4.5 and it was stable which suprised me. I mean whats the benefit of getting a case that is cheaper build quality and doesn't have what I need? I was expecting advice on what to look forward to next not how to pimp my looks.

You never said front mount bay, all you said was 3.5" ssd bay. If you're fine with that shitty case, more power to you, keep rocking it. Your internals are fine. But to suggest that most aftermarket standalone cases have cheaper build quality than some random stock HP case from who knows when is stupid. Just because it's made with steel doesn't make it high quality

You actually make no sense.
>just cause its made out of steel plates and is better built doesnt mean chink case 2000 isnt. It looks better thats it. Also you thought an ssd is 3.5"?????? Also look at the pcs posted before me and try to say they look better.

Your arguments make even less sense. Your greentext is actually so stupidly written I can't even tell if you're trying to be sarcastic or trying to make you own point.

I cant save you friendo I hope your meme machine does well.

my "meme machine" is more powerful than yours no matter what you think. Don't come here asking for advice on what to upgrade next and then shit on every suggestion

lil dusty but this my girl

Your suggestions have been put a psu even though its fine, put an intake even though everything runs cool, then get a case cause mine is ugly. Which machine is yours m8?

I'm OP, I've suggested nothing but a new case. You're just getting pissy at other people suggesting other upgrades

Im saying what upgrades? all people have suggested is making my computer more appealing or buying new components that literally is just a brand switch. Its like saying you should get a new board cause you have an asrock and its not the best.

You can see my original post here All I suggested was a new case and possibly cable sleeves for aesthetics. Obviously those don't equal performance gains. Other people chimed in about the rest (though I agree your psu is fine). Guts threads are usually about the appearance of your internals, if you don't care about the appearance of your PC then don't post a picture and get pissed when people criticize it

Now I understand why guts threads are always deleted they dont deal with tech haha. Just aesthetics in guts thread huh and everything posted her is basic ugly shit.

>Liquid cooling
>On a TIM'd IHS

>everything posted her is basic ugly shit.

You definitely contributed to that theme, thanks steel-case-brah

Yah I thought I was posting to a thread that cared about performance and functionality. I got that feeling seeing all yours.

Post in pc building general then. Welcome to Sup Forums brother

Yah I didnt get why pc building existed till now. Cause guts is /fa/ :p

Aw you seem self conscious about how your computer looks

i delidded it with coollaboratory liquid pro

circlejerk elsewhere retard

I love my pc. Not like its a show piece or the face of a company... I mean if this is the best looking pc's Im pretty disappointed cause I have seen some amazing ones here before.

If you're that disappointed in the showing here then build your own that will be a show piece. Because if you're disappointed in what's showing in this thread, and yours is the worst in this thread, then....

>worst
hmmmm I said I didnt build it to be aesthetic....

I'm building a """"""""server""""""""""" and I have no idea what I'm doing. The building experience is fun though.

Only changes are ram is running at 9-10-10-28-1T now, I cleaned the cables up more and got rid of the bread ties.

back panel after.

...

Got my new PSU(this one) a few days ago, so finally took a pic other than that I had when I built it. Will probably put in the other HDD cage and but the HDDs down in the right to get more air to the rest of the computer.

This was how it looked when I first built it.

Looks pretty good, not sure about the blue on black LEDs though.

Looks a bit old and dusty, what's the thing on the HDD cage?

Cleaning up the cables and turning the picture would make it a lot better.

Looks pretty empty.

Doesn't look so dusty, seems to be coordinated with the colors.

Seems pretty nice, lots of storage I see.

Can hardly tell the difference I must say...
What's the thing hanging from the 5.25" cage?

That cooler look huge I must say. What's the "AA" display thingy over the PSU?

Mine

AA is when All is Alright, Just no issues with the boot i think.

But what is the thing, I've never seen one before?

>What's the thing hanging from the 5.25" cage?
A little magnetic keychain flashlight

Just an code indicator that shows different codes for errors druing boot of the system.

For lighting for the picture or for having when checking things inside the computer.
Okay

For poking around inside. It's off in the pics.

yo

Gutted guts. Will probably never see their old glory again. Life changing necessitated this. My laptop plays all the vidya I played on the desktop and I have a server to offload CPU heavy workloads onto. At some point I will probably buy a GTX 970m for my laptop and be set for the foreseeable future of gayming.

>writing on the drives

retard

Rubbing alcohol takes off gold sharpie with like one wipe

you know there's 40 degrees on the drives right

>you know there's 40 degrees on the drives right

...

>asus direct cu
>ON A R9 390

that's even worse than reference gtx 480

...

The GPU just BARELY fits, but at least it's right up against the left intake fan.

Expanding storage in my server. Got 9TB right now with 150ish GB free. So maybe next year I'll get around to tossing in a pair of 2TB drives and raid them. The 2TB should last a few years, god knows I've got enough films/tv shows/and porn/hentai to last me a life time as is but you never know.

Actual labeling the drives is a smart thing, if they're in a raid it makes pulling a dead drive from the array easier.

Neither does yours senpai

>>current rates
weekend dip, i already sold at 206 and bought back at 187
>>upcoming fork
moon
>>mining specific cards soon
regulars cards are already mostly in stock. the desire to build rigs has died. it's a favorable condition for miners right now.
>>crashing BTC/ETH
this is the last dip, major change next week
>Neither does yours senpai
its almost paid off

Haven't cleaned it in a while

Sure thing Wojack

>It's almost paid off
So your machine isn't making you money
You haven't broken even yet

Amidoinitrite?

...

which fans are those

Just built it last week and its a good thing I spent the extra so that I could continue to play the exact same 8 bit indie steam games that I was already playing.

still waiting for bracket to install watercooling but i like it

there you go

The goddamned mounting bracket for my h7 are taking forever to get here

Who /expanded AIO/ here?

In the mail i have a r5 1600x and a water cooler for it, a new mini itx board, new 3200 ram (8 to 16 upgrade) and a gpu water block

>its almost paid off
kek, why even bother then? The amount of time you spend with it doesn't justify your return.

I like when people talk shit about my itx, it gives me laughs.

Cute

AB350M pro4?

You got any overclock, and what ram speed?

Have you OC'd your 1600? What are the temps like on the stock cooler?

still figuring shit out but i know 3.7 @ 1.37v is stable. currently trying 3.8 @ 1.39v but haven't tested with prime yet. Ram speed is at 2933 right now but can go to 3066, 3200 won't even boot

I have not. They are in the high 60s and low 70s so I'm not going to OC on this cooler

looks nice, im looking to do my 1st custom loop system and have no idea where to get the parts, halp pls?

>the fan over besides the CPU
What?

Just dusted everything out

i habe a crappy mobo. it is to cool the vrm's. it helps greatly, especially in summer

Tell me more about your case.
