Buy a new laptop

Is there no way encrypt my laptop? I just want to protect my shit in case it gets stolen.

Linux

No goy, encryption is illegal.

I'm actually considering this

Most of the major distributions include full disk encryption in their GUI installer

Just a few click and you're done, no hassle

I'm not sure which distro would be good for an Acer Aspire and Steam games

What animu is this

You actually basically have to run TC from linux if you actually want it to be bulletproof
the latest release has bugs, and development was discontinued years ago

I had the same problem with my ssd, I used some partition distro on a live usb to clear the drive and it worked.

Even if you format normally the table still sits there, you need to use a tool to remove it.

Good luck :^)

Veracrypt FTW

I don't even have a password set on my desktop, laptop, or phone.

Hey, is there anything similar to encrypting your home directory in ubuntu that won't fuck up an SSD?

Yhnx

*Thnx

Wow, aren't you fucking hardcore eh?

Depends if your EFI is backwards compatible with MBR. It might not be, or there might be a legacy setting to enable. You'll have to totally wipe the hard drive and recreate the partition table to switch.

Just do it already. Ubuntu MATE is good for beginners.

holy shit fuck off to /sqt/

Upboat

Fight me and find out, bro.

the laptop youre using really doesn't matter when it comes to choosing a distro. I personally am typing this on my acer aspire e1 series laptop using cloveros. The distro is more of a preference and not really hardware dependent

gparted
create new partition table
select MBR
done

> >still can't find a way to convert to MBR without fucking up
You are retarded.
Did it with systemrescuecd three years ago.

Ubuntu or Debian are good distros with lots of support. Ubuntu is a "kiddie" distro with all the drivers and Debian is an "outdated" distro that's stable af.

If you want to encrypt individual files check out VeraCrypt

congrats ur a fucking retard LOL

How stupid are you that you can't format a drive to MBR?
Get off Sup Forums normalfag
Out now!

Okay I got good news and bad news

Bad news is I changed from UEFI to Legacy and caused my laptop not able to boot Windows and I can't go back to the boot menu anymore.

Good news is that I installed Ubuntu

Gundam: G no Reconguista

If This meme crosses into my boards from Sup Forums, I will have hell rain upon you.

>caring about privacy
>not using Linux

Linux is too complicated for me

I finally got a MBR partition by booting to legacy

Its complicated at all, you just think it is complicated. Although for games I would not recommend it

>>can't even install BitLocker
Disable the TPM requirement for OS disks in Group Policy.

*not

I think its because he bought a laptop wich came with Home edition of windows

You literally can't without formatting the drive and re installing your OS. Stop being retarded.

you could try to stop being retarded, that would probably help.

>install bitlocker
Nigger what on Windows 10 only Pro edition has it. Stop being poor and upgrade your edition to pro
