how the fuck do I change my wallpaper in cloverOS?

So why do flash games run like trash these days?

That's a linux distro right? Use feh --bg-center filename
There are other options in the feh manpage.

i want a device that can use tinder
i've never had a smart phone or tablet
what should i buy?
i won't be using it as a phone

Can I install RetroPi or a similar emulation frontend (like Kodi) on top of an existing Raspbian install on a Raspi3?
I'd rather not reformat my SD card with that shit. I've done a lot of stuff to get this install how I want it and I'd hate to lose everything

It should work on an emulator like Nox. You can fake the location to wherever you live.

Whenever I do startx or startkde, my laptop crashes and I don't have enough time to see the error message. How do I log something as it's crashing my computer?

I got some bluetooth headphones as a hand me down and one of the earpieces is busted. That's not a problem for me as I'm deaf in one ear anyway, but I can't see the option to set the audio to mono in either sound settings on control panel or the bluetooth device's settings. I'm sure I updated the bluetooth drivers as well.

Am I SOL? I'm running W7, if that helps.

There's a balance option, at least for regular speakers or the headphones jack. Not sure if it just cuts one channel completely or moves the stereo sound to one channel only.

Why am I not tired now at 1am, but between 4 and 6 pm at my job I'm practically falling asleep? What do?

Watch porn on your phone in the bathroom or something. You don't even have to jerk off, it'll wake you up by instinct.

I can adjust the balance with regular headphones and earbuds, but not with my bluetooth ones. All i've found were the option to switch between 44100 hz and 48000 hz (both on a 2 channel setup) or just cut one channel completely without moving the sound to the other channel.

But what about falling asleep?

Staying awake allows you to fall asleep better, so the fixing the latter will fix or at least help fix the former.
You could try working out near the end of your day, or you could try jerking off before you sleep.

it should leave a log

Can't find it.

Stupid questions incoming.

Where should I learn the intro to networking? I'm currently a double major of CS/CE, but I feel like I need to learn the essentials to networking stuff. I downloaded Computer Networking - A Top Down Approach by Kurose and Ross.

Where can I learn the basics of Linux and understand it more thoroughly? I also downloaded Linux From Scratch, but I want to use the arch or gentoo distro. Would this fit with the material of the book?

>Where can I learn the basics of Linux and understand it more thoroughly?
Install arch or gentoo and immerse yourself in it. It's probably the best way to learn it and it's how I learned it.

I don't know what retropi is but kodi and retroarch are in the debian repos so I assume they are in the raspbian ones too. You should just be able to install them like normal.

Either a fucked up sleep schedule or eating too big a lunch. Try getting more exercise ;)

I appreciate the reply, but yes I plan on integrating my old laptop completely into Linux. Its complete sh1t, a Dell Inspiron n5040 i3, but its sentimental since its my first laptop I've had it for 5 years.

If you want to "learn" study for the CCNA and take that shit. You can find all the material online for free so you only need to pay for the exam.

I'll go to jewtube and see what they have. Any other references such as a book or should the first suffice?

How do i get gvim working with msys2?

emerge gvim msys2

how do they connect computers together to form a cluster computer?

Isn't there a windows native build of vim?

Captcha: Select all pants
B-But google, they are all trousers?

tubes

just read the chapters on "intro to networking" in the cisco book. The other stuff is specifically for their hardware. I can take screenshots for you but i'll have to upload here in individual posts

By using a router...

cat5 cables and a gigabit ethernet port

okay and then what do they do? just share their resources through virtual machines?

The issue with CCNA is that if you actually want to work with networking it's a great way to get your foot on the door in any corp.
It also isn't too hard, and knowing cisco shit should make it easy to work with Linux stuff since a lot of commands are similar.

What's the best way to power both headphones and speakers at the same time?

I'm using an AV receiver right now but I hate how I need to have a "ghost" monitor in order to use it properly due to the HDMI input it needs. Are there any USB headphone and speaker amps?

just use a Y splitter if your headphone and speakers both use thoes 2.5mm jacks

I'm talking about passive speakers that need power and speaker wire. Not shitty Best Buy computer ones.

That's awesome to know, thank you. I'll go ahead and look for said cisco book.

youre a passive speaker

yes, but i asked because i don't know how to use the msys2 commands from the win build

What the hell is this cookie? Some sort of malware?

I can't open up my options tab/add-ons in waterfox unless I use open a private window

I just deleted it, and I'm gonna go offline and do some cleaning as soon as my download finishes, but I was wondering if anyone knows what is is.

Also, there's a tab that won't close, can't really be selected and can't be moved to it's own window.

I mean you have to install software on it that allows it, but yeah. Do you want me to google it for you or something?

If I have to run my graphics card outside the case is it better or worse to cover the bottom with electrical tape? What surfaces can it lay on and run until I can cobble together some encasement?

>is it better or worse to cover the bottom with electrical tape?
Worse, like really worse. Why the fuck would you even do that? Are you running like an open bench? Just leave it out.

>my graphics card outside the case
Do you have a PCI cable or something?
pix plz

Thank you.

I actually don't have an NPM project, though. I just really like the idea of making diagrams with a markdown-like language, so I wanted to have mermaid for some of my regular notetaking.

I had been using their live editor before:
knsv.github.io/mermaid/live_editor/
...but then background colours for labels broke and they fixed it in the newest mermaid release, but the live editor uses an older release.

I've got 4 of these things. They all were tested recently before I got them. I'd love to use them but I don't know what to do about that connection. Anyone know if there's any board that will let me use these things?

Just snagged an 8TB external WD from Best Buy on sale, couple questions:

1) I ultimately plan to strip it from the enclosure and use it as an internal drive, but I'd like to make sure it's healthy before that. What's the recommended procedure for checking a new drive? (I'm on W7 btw)

2) The drive came with some WD bloat that I assume I don't need, but there's an installer and the readme says
>"Run WD Discovery.exe to install WD software to help you get a backup plan and modify drive settings."
Am I fine deleting this? What settings does it even mean?

woops turned sideways
here's the connector

What kind of outputs does it have?
I assume it sounds like a jet engine.

I thought electric tape on the bottom might help protect it.
I got a small form factor i7 for $30, but the card isn't close to fitting in it, and I can't find a motherboard to move the parts to for less than $70.
Would the card be ok just laying on a piece of plastic? wood?

The cable is coming tomorrow. Im still using the card in old pc. I have tonight to figure out how to not destroy it

Oh hey, I just got mine today too, that 2 cents per gigabyte was too tempting to pass up
You could run a full format which will take 12+ hours
Could also run a surface scan tool
You should be fine just reformatting it.

Yeah, it's crazy loud. They were inside an HP proliant dl580 server.
shows the connection

Wood should be fine, plastic should be fine as long as your cat isn't rubbing on it generating static.

How much could I sell a Asus K55V i5 3200M 4gb RAM 750GB HDD GeForce 610M 2GB? Has a fried motherboard I think, won't turn on

This site apparently sells breakout boards you could use.

Is there a way to count the percentage of zeroes in a raw disk image? 2 days ago I accidentally deleted a file on my phone, went through a guide to image the data partition and ran photorec on it. But it didnt find what I was looking for, only old files and thumbnails, interestingly no file is over 30mb. I heard this happens because android now has trim enabled like ssd's, so I would like to count how many zeroes there are in the raw image with a hex editor so I can confirm trim nuked my file for good. Im using windows 7.

I suddenly can no longer login on my Keepass. The only thing I changed is restart my PC after it was on for about 8 days.

moving mobos cuz old one's heat sink fan clip broke. moving from an ASRock A55M-HVS to a MSI B350. what is the best way to move mobos with out a fresh install of win.7?

Either take study and pass the CCNA or learn networking on a Linux machine.

Just from what I learned networking using linux desktops and home servers I earned few networking technical certifications.

wut do Sup Forums?

That's not that bad, but get a better cooler if it bothers you. Not sure what other answers you expected.
can i spoiler on Sup Forums?
How does dual booting actually work?

I used MacOS exclusively for years, but I just ordered a Thinkpad with Win7, and I want to dual boot with Debian – Debian for daily use, Win7 for photo/audio/video editing and any other misc. unsupported programs.

I just don't know what that entails. Will I enter a key combo that chooses what OS I boot into? Can you still see files between both OS if you save it in a format compatible with both?

Also, question #2: how the fuck do I choose where to save application files to in Debian? I end up just saving everything to the desktop in one root partition. I don't know how to actually organise it. Also, where can you see a list of every package you install, and where they're located?

Forgive me, really new to all of this and slightly retarded, I imagine this all has obvious answers. I just can't seem to Google the right keywords to find out.

does there exist a multimedia streaming suite that i can setup on my own server that's also preferably licensed under gnu?

I'm looking for a cheap mp3 player for my dad. Has to be easy to use and have a FM/AM radio function.

Any suggestions?

kodi is your best option

I have a 4790k at 4.4 ghz and 1.2 vcore. my temp ranges from high 50s in BF4 to 70s in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Do these temps seem normal or might delidding be a good option? Its being cooled by a kraken x61

format, run rufus a few times

Is resizing of fixed size vdi disks on virtualbox not supported?

70s is fine

70-75C is fine. That's what I hit at 4.6GHz on the same CPU under 100% load.

Looking for a software to record and motion detect security camera streams. I am currently using ContaCam on vbox with Ubuntu host.

just record regularly? if no motion is being detected it shouldn't take up bitrate

mine goes higher under 100% load. I don't think its stable during a stress test but it is for vidya

24h recording + motion detected segment or marking the motion detected time frames somehow.

I am eyeing towards motioneye and zoneminder. Looking for comments and more software.

>mine goes higher under 100% load.
I used webm for retards converting a long ass video into webm format and that's what the temps stabilized at

I used prime 95 and my cpu got rekt at anything other than stock

why use fake workloads when you can test shit out using software you actually use

The computer does not detect hard drives when they are plugged in. I have 2 hard drives besides the one with the OS but only have one port free to use so I connect the one I need at the moment, but every time I switch between the two, the newly connected one does not show up. I need to perform a full system restart in order to access the newly connected drive.
How can I avoid restarting after connecting the hard drive? How do I get it to show up in the file system or device manager?

that's what I figured and just made my cpu stable for the games I play. kind of a bummer that I don't nearly have the overclocking headroom as I did with my 4690k

everyone jerks off to prime 95 though

hotplugging enabled in BIOS

have you formatted it? right click on the start button and go to disk formatting. unformatted drives show up there but not in file explorer. I didn't know I had to format my new ssds in order to use them

>Can I install RetroPi or a similar emulation frontend (like Kodi) on top of an existing Raspbian install on a Raspi3?
See github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup

Is it true that if wipe just a small part of LUKS encrypted drive it will become unrecoverable?

emby

if you erase the first 2MiB of a luks volume, and you don't have a backup of it, then yes, the entirety of the volume is irrecoverable

Shit.

Thanks for the info, man.

why the hell can I only find K&R in pdf?
the kindle store has it, so there's gotta be a proper ebook version, right?

Anyone have it?

Not sure what format ebooks use but there's an epub and a mobi versions on gen.lib.rus.ec

i have an old as fuck netbook that still has windows xp on it, should i upgrade to win7/10?

its only ever used by my mom to check facebook and other simple stuff, i just want it to be decently fast and not get spammed by windows popups

How do you find the epub and mobi verions?
I can't seem to find anything but pdf an djvu.

Clicc that blue arrow above/below the list, my man.

wow I feel dumb

thanks a tonne, man!

Ayy no problem, my man. Hope those scans are good.

How do I disable tracking in Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit?

Don't want to type into Google for obvious reasons
