I pronounce it as "GIF"

I pronounce it like gif

Gif

Here in Germany a g is a g and a j is a j. Its a fucking gif not a jif.

"'if", because real g's move in silence like lasagna

Genau. Same in Denmark

"jiff" is the only correct way

I pronounce it webm because gif is a dead format.

that's why you lost ww2

The creator of the extension says it's pronounced "jiff"

And Z is Ts. Get your shit together, kraut.

Ah shit, you're right.

I don't casually talk about graphics formats with my mouth and vocal cords and so I spell out any acronyms to avoid any ambiguity. What is your problem?

or Gin?

cool story jeremy

Jayson?

gee-eye-eff

GEE
EYE
IF

no, because hitler was to dumb for cod

"Gif"

He's just playing advocate to the devil, to get more attention for creating the format. Of course it's not pronounced "jiff", that would be stupid. Also, his opinion stopped mattering when his format became public domain. Why is it spelled "gif" if it's actually pronounced "jiff"? On one hand we have the word "graphic" in the name that would logically imply that the correct pronunciation is a hard "g". On the other hand words like "giraffe" and "germ" are used as examples, but that overlooks the fact that words like "jiffy" and even the peanutbutter brand "jif" exist that are more appropriate in this context. I would pronounce "giffy" with a hard "g", wouldn't you? Any way you spin it pronouncing "gif" as "jiff" is autistic.

The same way you pronounce you are gay.

geef

t. spic

I prefer the smoother actuation of "jiff" especially when used in conjunction with the word "animated".

"Animated jiff" versus "Animated gif"

also the jif pronunciation is similar to the word jiffy, which fits with the fact that they are short animated files, generally.

I would read "giffy" with a soft G, desu

the answer is G is secretly a vowel because it's the most courageous letter in the alphabet and can do whatever it wants.

How would you spell "giffy" with a hard g?

I say "guff"

Hurr

anyone who does not pronounce it as gif is a bitch

holy shit, this is the compromise I've been waiting for

I pronounce it like jif. Anyone who uses a hard G has autism.

DOOOOT GEEE EEEEEE EFFFFF
