Hello, 16-year-old me.

hey man I like vikings

Pape, like yesterday

good morning Sup Forums

I wasn't being mean. Amon Amarth used to be one of my favorite bands and your desktop (wallpaper, colors) look just like mine did back when I was 16.

...

Shitty thread but I'll take it over another applel shilling thread.

thanks for reminding me to make a liyu thread later

>still using i3
when are you all gonna realize floating wms are superior
if you are serious about rice then why are u using a tiling wm? are you a leet programmer or something?

is this guy for real

Tiling window managers aren't popular because of ``fashion'', but because they are the superior way to handle the desktop.

idiot

Both these posts contain the same message.

they aren't though, most programs are not designed with full-width/tiling in mind. tiling the windows beyond 2 just fucks all the windows up and is counterproductive. and you can split the screen with 2 windows just fine with a floating wm

henlo

also
>Tiling window managers aren't popular because of ``fashion''
thats exactly my point, get out of the thread if you want an ugly i3 desktop

meh

go back

what

Ehh i like it.

>Windows 7
Still better than 10

dead thread

Does anyone know the name of the font in the OP? I've been searching all night

have you tried searching on updoc?

...

thanks for the suggestion. i have a .ttf file now, how do i make i3 config recognize it?

I have added the .ttf file to /usr/share/fonts/TTF and put it into my i3 config, but it doesn't recognize the font

run fc-cache to update your list of recognized fonts if you haven't already

then run fc-list | grep "fontname" to get the exact name of the font to use in i3

Who else Windows here

that did the trick. Thanks a bunch user.

Would you also know how to turn off font anti-aliasing in i3? it's pretty blurry

...

nevermind, i figured it out and that wasn't the problem

...

I like it.

>2h36m uptime
Yep, it's Arch.

>Oh my bad man, I just assume the worst on here. I'm a rather tall dude with a beard, so vikings just click with me.
no need to thank me

why do you assume people just keep their computers on all the time?

oooh we've got a hackur here bois
dangerous

Because power states are a thing. When using suspend, or even hibernation, the uptime counter continues where it left off upon resuming the session just as everything else.
You aren't dumb enough to cold boot your computer every time you use it, are you?

hey ben
eat shit and die

why would I leave it on for no reason?
it's not like it doesn't boot up in like 3 seconds

Most people just turn off their computers.

>hibernation
enjoy your filesystem corruptions

I hate anime

What's the best i3 lock screen that blurs the screen and works on both single as well as multi-monitor setups?

There are over a dozen of lock screens out there but they all seem shit

i3lock + imagemagick can screencap your current screen, blur it and set it as lockscreen.
>How?
beats me, I just saw a nigga with it once

Is that i3blocks status and how'd you make it transparent?

I guess you're right.
Almost every i3 locker is basically an imagemagick script.

xScreensaver also has a bunch of options, but I'm not sure if it supports what you're looking for.

What do you use for lockscreen? Or do you just logout/not use one?

I ended up sticking with Xscreensaver on my laptop. The animations are really nice.
On my desktop at home, i can't be arsed to lock it.
That being said, i'll go balls deep in i3lock eventually. It seems to be the most lightweight and feature-rich solution

Basically make a bash script that takes a screenshot, saves it in tmp somewhere, blurs it with image magic, and uses it for i3 lock. Optionally you can put your favorite naked waifu over the blurred image. It was the first bash script I ever made but I can't find it :(

Windows

Can someone explain ricing?

I should make a light oneechan theme to match the backgrounds

it gets you sex

very nice colors, you have your dots somewhere?

needs tweeking

What does make i3 better than awesome WM?

Awesome is pure bloat
any WM is better than Awesome

how is it bloat?

I started with i3wm, then switched to awesomewm for the Lua support.
But then version 4 came along, and after a day's work my config file still didn't work with the new api, so I switched back to i3 where the configuration works better.

I do miss the scripting support though.

full of useless features

just booted up my laptop to look at it.
How are 148MiB bloat?

+ for snoops best album
- for reddit

>How are 148MiB bloat?
they are, but nevermind that
i3 config is easier, since it's plain text
and it has all those dumb layouts and an ugly taskbar and generally more features than i3 and openbox with tint2 combined
it's too complicated for a simple tiling WM
it's basically a mini DE that you need to configure in fucking lua

I keep seeing this desktop and I hate it more and more everytime

Shantae hates screenshots.

a-am I cool yet guys?

Get out.

Been rocking this for a long time now

change your promt and ditch the blue default text color
