There is no single best OS. Some just better fit a particular use case.

ubuntu 12.04 Precise

Rawhide.

Plan9.

Nobody can hack it.

OpenBSD

I love Glenda. If GNU/Linux became the new 'normie' OS, I'd gladly devote more resources to developing BSD and Plan9.
