Quad-channel has higher bandwidth, but it doesn't perform significantly better than Dual-channel. Unless you actually have software that manages to use all that extra bandwidth. Which you probably don't, so your slow Quad-channel is not performing better than equally slow Dual-channel.

I bought this workstation half a year ago and can't be more happy about my purchase.
I just want to recommend this further. You can follow my advice or pay much more money for something a little better.
I prefer the highest bang for bucks ratio.
And you cant find something with better bang for bucks than a z420 with 32gb ecc quad channel memory, xeon e5 1650 6 core with single threaded performance near r7 1800X / i7 6700 and all that with Enterprise class quality for 500€
