MacOS under the hood is just FreeBSD with some GNU mixed in and bolted onto a shitty kernel that was made as an academic experiment and abandoned when it useless. Literally the only thing formally "Unix" about it is that they paid to use the brand.

Fonts are the one thing no Linux distro seems to get right. The only one that even comes close is ubuntu, and even then, it's still not very good. But when every other distro looks like shit out of the box, I suppose it's an achievement.
