What in the name of fuck is that hideous URL?
>le olde mobile broadband snakeoil meme
what kind of geriatric fogey reads Slashdot in the current year? Here's a better link:
arstechnica.com
>fake news misquotes someone out of context again
Nothing to see here.
t. pajeet
the article title is a reasonable extrapolation from the document
the document is basically about how the FCC is supposed to be assessing deployment of broadband across the country and asking if they canlower the bar for what constitutes broadband (which in their definition is currently 25mbps down) and count cellular networks (making the deployment look much better than it is)
Just create your own ISP.
>fake news
Trump supporter in denial as usual
The mental hoops Trump supporters use to agree with these policies makes me laugh
Even rural Africa has faster speeds then this available without caps.
Can't wait for the great American shoa on this website
Whatever King Donald's henchmen say they are right. People used 56k for many years. I'm ready for my ISDN and 500MB datacap in 2019.
you don't
480p video on youtube is like 1.5mbit
720p is around 3.5mbit
what more do you fucking need?
The YouTube/Netflix app in my television displays 4k.
4k on a 75" display from 10' away is just short of nirvana.
You'd have to pry that from my cold dead hands.
+ human eye cannot see 4k or more than 24fps.
It's ok to admit he's a shithead, Drumpfkins.
Trump fires all his appointees after a few weeks and tweets about how incompetent and treacherous they are. At which point all the little Drumpfkins agree. You'd just be jumping the gun by a few days.
you dont need "super" fast internet. know the difference lib shill
The troll's eye cannot see more than an opportunity for a cheap laugh.
You don't even need "fast" internet agent provokateur.
>amerifats won't pollute the internet
perfect
I never understood meme logic like this.
As technology advances, we're always going to improve in one way or another. We're never gonna say "Okay. Good enough. We can stop here" because that's lazy and pointless. Eventually what's new today will be retro tech tomorrow.
He's got a point. Not everyone is a typical Sup Forums user. It's difficult to justify rolling out 25Mb internet to rural areas when the vast majority of people with access to 25Mb don't purchase it anyway.
This isn't the telephone era. The marginal benefit of going from 3 Mbps DSL to 25Mb cable isn't anywhere close to going from nothing to having phone service.
>he takes the word of entertainment companies at face value
enjoy the clickbait
So why not upgrade the medium when there is need for it?
Why build roads before there are enough cars to justify it?
Why build cities that no one can afford to live in?
That's called expanding too fast and wasting money, and is why you're a neet and someone else is a billionaire
That's boomer logic. The ratio of people who use the internet for all of their entertainment and business is only growing.
>only growing
Entertainment and business doesn't require 150 Mb/s.
>business doesn't require 150 Mb/s
You're right, business requires multiple 10 Gb/s connections at each location.
And who is going to pay for it?
They require that because they need uninterrupted access compared to public lines. They never use all that speed.
The businesses pay for it and then they charge their customers to use it.
So you're suggesting they accept interrupted access because it's "too fast for church"?
Well unless there is competition, expect to start paying more...
why are you shilling for an ISP who would slit your throat for an extra nickel on their stock price?
You're going somewhere else with your post now. The gist of it is that we have the most speed we'd ever need until quantum computing takes off.
I'm not shilling for shit. I'm telling you the reality of internet usage. Today's internet could operate as low as 2 Mb and only people like you guys and online gamers would be annoyed.
We're a year or two away from 4K being affordable enough for the general public.
Because I have lots of money invested in stocks.
4K is the worst meme in the world and it's only something being pushed by tech companies because they've reached the diminishing returns of tech / entertainment ratio. Most people are okay with staying at 1080 cause there's no reason to get any clearer or bigger of a screen. Even if 4K took off, that's just an extra ten minutes of downloading for most people.

You're stuck 20 years ago with your logic. As more and more old fucks die off, people who regularly play video games all through their adult lives rapidly become the majority. Over half of gamers stream movies specifically with a console as well, so there's even more if you remove that restriction. Did you forget about how almost all games these days require downloading to install, in addition to huge updates on them as well? And games aren't getting any smaller. Forza 7, for example, is going to be over 100GB at launch. This will be the new norm, and it will only increase every few years.
Face it, internet speeds are not something to become complacent about. Just because all you do is jack off to 240p porn and shitpost on an imageboard, doesn't mean that's how limited most people's internet uses are.
There were idiots saying this about HD 15 years ago too.
>mainlinkanon
>medium=fee
i aint clicking that shit nigger
>As more and more old fucks die off, people who regularly play video games all through their adult lives rapidly become the majority
Then you have more to worry about than not fast enough internet if millions of americans are still playing video games instead of working a job that provides money for said video games. Even then, 150m americans arent playing games online. That number is including mobile. Also speed =/= bandwidth. People will still be able to enjoy video games even if an actual 150m were online at once playing CoD or some Steam multiplayer game. Games transmit little data upstream and down, which any smart multiplayer dev has accounted for. The only bottleneck is how many people in your neighborhood are playing online gaming at the same time and how good your lines are.
>muh vidya
you're not entitled to playing video games
HD is still a meme, which is why people run streaming at lower res for faster downloads. You have this notion that the internet was only made for streaming and wondering why isps have to cater to only one area of the net, an entertainment section no less.
>is going to be over 100GB at launch
what does a one time download of a game have to do with having high internet speeds? Are you downloading multiple 100GB games everyday?
>unironically arguing in favor of worse technology with the only reasoning being "y-you don't need..."
You would feel more at home living with the Amish.
>equating modern day internet to amish living
Stop drinking bleach
I don't understand what is the problem. For government services like filing taxes and applying benefits you don't really need that much.
In Finland the mandated minimum speed is 1 Mbit/s.
Or are you really saying you really "NEED" the bandwidth for netflix or some other garbage. I swear you amerifats are the most retarded people on this planet. If somebody said you don't NEED hamburgers to live you would probably shoot the guy.
Stop pretending that you have a good excuse to worsen what we have.
>unironically arguing in favor of worse technology
That's what you're arguing.
Net-neutrality guarantees low speeds and low data caps, especially for the rural people.
Because there's no Net-neutrality in the mobile industry, at least rural-fags can stream 24/7 content from many sites that have 0 rating with mobile carriers.
How does NN benefit rural people exactly? It does the exact opposite.
>Then you have more to worry about than not fast enough internet if millions of americans are still playing video games instead of working a job that provides money for said video games. With every sentence I got more and more triggered. Congratulations, 10/10
>worsen what we have
Nothing will get worse. Stop spouting IT'S HAPPENING threads about losing your rights or internet or whatever the hell you guys are spewing.
Net neutrality guarantees that your traffic is treated the same as any other traffic. Nothing more. Nothing less. Walk me through how exactly you think that NN is holding back speeds. I need a good laugh.
Your post is almost correct except it's also naive in what exactly the form of NN being argued for.
He has no clue what net neutrality is.
Beans are 10 cents/hundred grams. Add some vegetables and eggs, and you don't need more than 20 dollars a month for food expenses.
Net neutrality means netflix no buffer *bites a burger*
We need net neutrality *burp*
I need netflix no buffer, if not I die *licks mayo from fingers*
what a bad food analogy. if you truly believe current internet is dog food, then you're truly delusional
>mayo on a burger
What the fuck are you talking about
>Net neutrality guarantees that your traffic is treated the same as any other traffic.
Which means ISP's can throttle all of your internet to 10kbit/sec if they wanted to.
Tell me how NN guarantees fast speeds, now THAT will be a good laugh.
Eat your beans, Timmy. You don't need desert.
I honestly cannot wait until American Trumpcucks are forced off the internet because they can't afford to pay $0.49 per Sup Forums post that comcast charges them
AHAHAHAHAH
>I need a 5 star meal everyday because I'm entitled to it on my neetbux even though I'll waste most of it everytime
That's your food analogy done right. Most people, including you, never use top speeds 24/7. You never need it, either.
I wish internet adapted a lower speed. That way I won't have to deal with bloated ass javascript websites. Remember when we only had to deal with html and css? Remember that the worse you got was just high contrast colors and animated fire gifs?
I wonder if the anti-nn shills would be happy to pay comcast $0.99/post on Sup Forums
Because that's what they're arguing for. I can't wait. Fucktarded Americans.
Guess we're about to see huh, since the FCC is looking to throw it out by the end of Sept. Get fucked google shills.
How many days can you go without using your phone? This isn't about speed, it's about rights. Put your money where you mouth is: put your phone down and don't pick it up again. Or, are you a reliant, pathetic little consumerist like everyone else?
>about rights
You have no right to the internet.
I can't wait until you can't afford to post on Sup Forums
HAHAHAHAHHAHA GET FUCKED
>implying I use this chan most of my time
I'd gladly put down $1 a month for one post to tell you guys that you're stupid google shills.
NN doesn't even actually exist. It's just a pseudo-law Obongo put in during the last 2 years of his administration. What about the first 6 years? Nothing. And these doomsday idiots forgot that nobody was charged "$0.99/post on Sup Forums" . Retarded redditors.
>he doesn't realize NN has been the de facto policy since
Enjoy $1.99/post comcast shill
I'm aware what's being turned back. Which is why I said that NN is different from what everyone is using it as. What they really mean is that the data equalization regulations are about to go and the Title 2 designations along with it.
HAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHA
that's what you get for being americucked. move to a real country you fucking idiots.
rural thailand has better DSL than most of your cable internet.
You have no rights to a phone. Put it down, then.
I paid for its use, just like you paid to use the internet. Make me faggot. Look at that. Someone puts down money to pay for a service. Who would have known that existed.
Agreed, Trumpcucks are truly the lowest form of life on Sup Forums.
Comcast fucked with Netflix for awhile
Good
You can't do it, you're utterly reliant on your portable botnet machine. Just shut up.
How mad can a human being get that a company you have nothing to do with fired a person you don't even know?
You do know people get fired all the time for shit, right?
>Even if 4K took off, that's just an extra ten minutes of downloading for most people.
>an extra ten minutes
>on 25mbit internet because it's "fast enough"
You're an actual fucking retard.
Convenience =/= reliance retard. Why dont you stop using the internet right now so you can stop posting your retarded anguishes.
I can't wait till comcast blocks Sup Forums unless you pay a fee and you won't be able to afford it.
Then we don't have to put up with your faggotry.
Netflik is a human right just like freedoms of speak
If pajeet takes it away, somebody has to pay
>I can't wait till comcast blocks Sup Forums
4chan is not a bandwidth eating service like netflix
>blog.streamingmedia.com
Wow a lobbyist for the telecommunications industry thinks it was all on the up and up. I'm sure he has the consumers best interest at heart
But what happens when a bunch of progressives complain that it's home to racists and bigotry?
Do you think they won't find a way to package Sup Forums and reddit in their "le epic meme subscriber package" that you have to pay $119 for?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yes, that is correct. With no buffer. Because I pay for a speed, so I expect to be given that speed. Otherwise, I would have selected a slower speed and paid less, wouldn't I have, king fuckface?
The only place that will happen is on google's isp.
>facts don't matter, i only care what john oliver says
Nothing.
Sure beats having web sites being censored for hate speech (by the government) like in Yurocuck land.
You're clearly ignorant on how the internet works. Please shut the fuck up.
You pay for possible speeds. You also fail to realize bandwidth, too.
You are actually wrong. It is a basic human right.
So Twitter, Facebook, Google, and all these other sites will bow to pressure but Comcast and TimeWarner won't?
>Indian-values fuck head with corporate influence connections telling me what I need
>Asshat corporatist fuckstick defining MY NEEDS
Nobody "needs" a smartphone either, or air conditioning, or a washer and dryer.
This guy is incompetent and needs to be removed. I'll be creating a public movement after taking in as much information as I can.
