when linux develops a good file picker for once??

Nice thread kid.

It is good, but because you are a stupid faggot, you need pictures like a child in order to find something quickly.

Indeed, such shame GTK is the only toolkit on Linux.

The GNOME Foundation is the cancer of the Linux Community

Yes because it's not like cameras or imageboards or anything else automatically names images using a string of numbers. It's not like thumbnail view makes sense for browsing large folders of images. I imagine you personally of course autis-meticulously rename all your images so you can find them by name because you use loonyx.

10 years old konqueror is still way ahead in file picker.

I don't understand that meme. It works on my machine.

LOL

OK. Is it a Sup Forums joke that I failed to understand?

ranger can do that

it's not a file-manager issue, it's file-chooser
You can install dolphin on gnome and it still doesn't work

what is this a thumbmail for ants?

No, I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I don't have this problem.

What was your issue again? Using Linux or the file picker for your web browser?

Why doesn't mozilla use qt instead?

2022.

I can zoom if I want.

>doesn't know the difference between a file manager and a file picker
lol

What is a file picker and why have I never needed it before?

Oh. I get it now. I have icons with Firefox file picker, but I can not zoom them.

But it's a deeper problem than that. It's just that GNU/Linux is anarchism and there is zero coordination.

KDE doesn't have this issue.

C is deprecated that's why

this is how a proper file picker looks like
none of your autistic lonix distros gets even close to this

>no thumbnail
kek

That's actually worse than gtk file picker

>It's just that GNU/Linux is anarchism and there is zero coordination.
It's the opposite problem, actually. The GNOME team is extremely authoritarian and has virtually no concern for what users actually want.

I has the icons, it's just their only like 16x16.
And the preview panel of course.
If you can't spot what you want in your file picker right away, just go up a dir, right click on the folder you want and see if you have a open folder in file manager option.
Drag and drop from you're file manager.
Or just get in the habit of using your file manager.

This

I have no idea what you're talking about.

...

So much wasted space. Why not put the filenames under the thumbnail?

Why aren't there any good explorer clones? For all Windows' problems, explorer is really good both aesthetically and functionally.

...

change view mode to thumbnail/icons
done

what the fuck is wrong with you?

Don't know I didn't design it.

The file picker does have an option to put the file names under the thumbnail.

>The GNOME team is extremely authoritarian and has virtually no concern for what users actually want
That's what I call anarchism. Each group do what it wants without discussing with other groups. Typical of anarchism.

That doesn't make any sense. If there were a global governing body to regulate decisions, the shitty GNOME autism would simply be forced on everything instead of just GTK. Committees are evil.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about providing a common API for GUI, like POSIX.

Just implementing the namespace System.Windows.Forms of .net

But no. Each one come and force you to bind to a specific widget library instead of bind to GUI calls.
Windows did this right. Everybody call system32 and does not care about what is behind.

>Windows did this right. Everybody call system32 and does not care about what is behind.
And it's so fucking shit that everyone uses middleware widget toolkits anyway.

>And it's so fucking shit that everyone uses middleware widget toolkits anyway.
And it's so fucking great that every code monkey uses middleware widget toolkits anyway.

...

If you say so, senpai.

>dude just memorize hundreds of 16-digit numbers to find the file you want!
kys

So like, does the GNOME team not use Sup Forums or any site where you regularly upload pictures? In what world is the file picker not having thumbnails acceptable?

Do you think productive developers actually use Sup Forums?

top kek

ever post an image?

If they're so productive where are the thumbnails in my file picker?

>folders sorted with the files instead of kept separately at the top
Why the fuck would you want this?

People like that. As they like alphanumeric sort. As they like sorting ignoring points in file. As... Sort is becoming a nightmare those days.

rekt

I sort by date. Can't see why you'd do anything else.

>Be Gnome user
>Used to awesome drag and drop
>Have to use Windows at work sometimes
>Have file manager open to directory I'm working in
>Need to open a file in an application
>Drag and drop to the application
>Nothing happens
>Open file picker
>Drag file into file picker
>It moves the file instead of going to the working directory and selecting the file

Fuck file pickers, fuck Windows, and fuck outdated workflows.

some applications written by incompetent developers don't support drag and drop, most do though

also to drag into the filepicker you're supposed to drag it into the textbox, not the main window

>can't right click and open the file

kek

Why even have a separate file picker? Windows 10 uses the same view for both file manager and picker.
