Thinkpads are shilled here, and they are very good quality for the price. It's also nice to be able to use a dock and have easily replaceable/upgradeable parts.
That said, if it will be your only pc and you want to play games, the acer E series laptops are a good deal. Go on their website and compare specs for price. Most of them have dedicated graphics, but stay away from Intel because it bumps the price $200+ for the same performance

You can get a really nice w530 or above if you don't mind used. Otherwise, honestly the most popular on best buy or Amazon wouldn't be bad.

I have the t440 and it's pretty decent aside from the shitty trackpad which I replaced, my mate has a nice x220.
You can get 8gb, an ssd, and a TB hard drive for a few hundred dollars used, you don't need the most top of the range processor for doing shit in lectures.
Only thing which is a bit shitty is the screen is 768p

Acer simply has below average build quality for all their consumer notebooks, like every other manufacturer. Get a business notebook and you will see that a proper laptop does not fall apart after 2 years.

Yes, the Mx150 is basically a Gt 1030, so msot games will run at 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps.
