Are we going to have to start paying for Youtube?

Are we going to have to start paying for Youtube?

No. It's difficult to deliver ads if you're forced to pay.

>What is cable TV?

No competition.

Just you wait. We've all been able to enjoy the freedom of Internet media so far, but it's a bubble that has to burst eventually.

95% of people would stop using it

dying

I hope so.
I hate YouTube

Dying only because there is an alternative. What's the alternative to streaming sites when they start playing ads?

I hope they do something this stupid. It'd be the final nail in the coffin.

torrent based streaming

Twitch?

I seriously hope so, I've wanted to switch to something else for a long time.

>implying you can't skip commercials
Also, commercials aren't even bad. Ads on videos are on a whole other level

>to have to start paying for Youtube?
to watch exactly what?

the only thing I watch there is the Jew Rogan Experience (and I don't watch that often either)

No. You can always use VPN if your ISP cucks you.

Dead. The only reason it exists anymore is because you get it bundled with internet. The same reason telephones are still a thing, you get them bundled with internet and TV.
I personally have a different plan (only internet connection), but I chose that because I literally don't need a telephone because I have a smartphone and don't need TV because I have internet access. Plus it was the cheapest, fastest and a 4G mobile connection so I'm not limited to using it at home.

You can already stream torrents if you're thinking about movies/series (static). If you're thinking about twitch-like streaming (live/dynamic) it probably won't be difficult to make a distribute based client similar to torrents.

This. Google wouldn't allow it. Google would actually rather launch their "free global wifi" just for this reason, or become a major ISP instead.

It wouldn't just affect YouTube but all similar sites.

...

they have absolutely zero serious competition (except for streaming). so they can do whatever they want (except with streaming)

Someone should make a site like YouTube, but which generates revenue from a portion of users voluntarily paying money to the channels they subscribe to. Imagine everyone paying $4/month -- half of the cost of Netflix -- to fund content creators and the site itself.

> absolutely zero serious competition

>> I said "serious"
Every business wants to grow larger. If they can't compete with Youtube, it means Youtube is very competitive, everybody talking about the "last nail in the coffin" is deluded.

Im a youtuber and youtube effectively killed my channel today. My channel isnt even bad. Its barely rated T with the majority of content being PG-13 at best. They removed around a million views worth of videos I had from monetization today. Something around 13 pages so 300 videos.

Many of the videos are completely docile from things from video gameplay set to classical music to literally vlogs of me talking about updates to my channel.

There is no fucking difference and the system culled them all. Youtube just doesnt like me for whatever fucking reason and you cant even appeal any of it unless your video is actively getting 1,000 views a week.

This is fucking ridiculous.
Im not some fucking alt-right nazi faggot.
Ive done literally nothing wrong and you could show almost any of my content on cable tv with the worst being on HBO and not even being comparable to the violence or language used in say the sopranos.

I'd pay for it if its like 3 to 5 dollars

They're cleaning garbage. Anything that doesn't give them profit is useless.

Youtube Red?

why would i pay for something that i do not use?

you would host your shitty stream on your own servers.

>This is fucking ridiculous
Sorry m8, our data heuristics have pinpointed you to this site hence you're some deranged murderous racist online terrorist
>Im not some fucking alt-right nazi faggot
That not for you to decide, your marxist overlords have deemed you a wrongthink hate criminal, don't expect to see a single dime from here to eternity from google services and right now we're communicating with the authorities to have you banned from the internet and transfered to a death camp

This is the future you've chosen

old people watch tv because they dont know about anything else and computers are scary.

>please purchase 10 video credits to continue watching
>youtube cards available at wal mart and gas stations
>youtube bronze, silver, gold and seasons pass plans
>you now have to buy a youtube box to get all the features with a subscription service (you don't actually own the box, you rent it)}
>youtube requires scan of personal Identification to register account

so I should start making proislam cuck videos with ethnic spiderman and elsa shitting into white children's faces while nazi flags burn in the background?

Can do.

do you think maybe they pulled videos based on them having been embedded on Sup Forums? I mean ive posted stuff before on like /vg/.

No, multiple shit from both sides get embedded on a regular basis, blame google analytics you untolerant nazi supporting moderate bigot

>old people
Yeah. And their generation is close to extinction.

No. Google gets its value from YouTube from its massive userbase.

Probably testing a new algorithm. I'm assuming they test on smaller channels since no one would really notice. They give all of 0 fucks.

>people still think Google is after money
I expected better from Sup Forums
