>He thinks he can disable telemetry

nice photoshop skills

I usually think those 'excuse me I'd like to interject...' are massive Ñ„aggots but is in this case it really is GNU/NT.

>Linux
So which kernel version are you running?

ssh root@

You really need to lock that shit down bro

oh no i said linux

not like its called linux subsystem for windows retard

not my picture, but i still use root ;p

i just have the ssh port changed etc

Security through obscurity is no security at all

If you could disable the telemetry, Microsoft would have been broke by now.

>pajeet said so, so It must be like the real thing
Enjoy your niggershell winbaby

which is not real security

I already have bash, you just don't get it.

you can its not hard retard

funny joke haha let me pretend to be retarded

Sure. If it makes you feel better to say that.

What makes me feel better is running linux on windows so i don't have to install it. Nice try tho

That's priceless and so cute how you're not aware of what I'm pointing out.

no i'm fully aware, you tried to make a joke of the blurred shit but its not even my image so your not even fully aware that i pulled this off google images. nice iq

>he thinks he has it disabled
cute

The first post is the best post. OP is such a retard that he doesn't even know about the hardware backdoor.

Man, how edgelord are you?
Looks like you're the one taking the bait.

Like I didn't noticed it came from poogle lmao

Why do you use Ubuntu instead of OpenSUSE
Are you a literal retard?

Is that semen demon who I think it is?

I don't know who she is actually and I'll not bother to reverse image, it's just a random women that some user posted and saved for her reaction.

It looks like that qt american-asian piano player which I don't remember the name off, who made some poor life choices and ended up doing some vile facial abuse puke porn.

Kelly Wang aka Mayli. 1 video still there while 2 other rare videos hidden somewhere.

Also suicide

well you can (on 14393 i believe) but you got to compromise between updates(and you won't get even the most critical ones) and telemetry

As a person who uses windows & linux (distro depends on the "mood"/hardware compatibility) roughly the same equally, it's not really worth to hard-tweak it

Even if you lightly tweak your telemetry settings, you(my measured case)only give like 1mb a month, but yeah it depends on many factors.

Hard-tweaking your W10 is definitely possible, but you'd have to use 14393/LTSB or another version preferably without anniversary update. Also after installing creator's update i'm like 95% sure you can't fully disable telemetry, it's a worthless update but that's another story.

youtu.be/eoSg3fSB7PA

> hardware backdoors not working on linux
Try HARDER

lets get real for a moment. You install windows 10 in about 45 minutes and for most linuxes its about the same but remember. Biggest base linuxes are about 1 gigabytes or 2 while windows 10 can be more than 5 gigabytes of data. And what happens when you open them. On the linux there are about 2 functional buttons, 3 are nonfunctional and in those two buttons there are some pictures to play with. Maybe slide down or up. On windows though, you feel like a god. Its professional its fast, its all functional. You have a godlike user interface. The thing that the linux does not have. You have those two buttons in the linux, but you still search google for codes to write in terminal. Linux is free because its not worth a penny. Nobody would sell a paper without taking the money. Just not sure why people still buy android while windows phone does 10 times more. Trust me. When you work with windows you know some genius ground breaker dedicated himself to give you an operational os

Really?

>disable telemetry
kill yourself

Why do you use systemd? Are you a literal retard?

>i dont understand traffic

i don't really like windows interface and the workflow that comes with it. KDE is just better for me. i use windows only for photoshop and maybe a few games from time to time. Maybe i should see into gpu passthrough, but i was too lazy as of yet.

WSL sucks, every time I run bash it decides to open a handle to some file and refuse to let go of it - I have to stop the lxss service (which can only be done from kernel mode) to be able to delete the file, and then I have to reboot the operating system anyway as trying to run bash afterwards just yields an 0x80070005 error until I do so.

Neat idea, terribly executed.

ebin now i can run all my linux programs that were optimized for the linux kernel on a kernel that isn't linux that takes a full second to fork a process with a terminal that isn't vt100 compliant so escape codes must be converted and programs can't properly read arrow keys, selection and copy pasting is a chore, customizing is painful and the font rendering is atrocious with a fucked up windows manager that doesn't let me tile my fucking windows how i want. all i have to do is download this 4gb install image and spend 30 minutes installing it, 2 reboots, 1 hour of configuration, 1 reboot, and leave it on to update because 90% of the shit on the install image is outdated and hundreds of zero days patches were published while it was installing. then when i can finally boot to desktop, i have to leave it alone for 20 minutes so that disk io finally reach only 90%, the average windows io usage. then I just have to """""disable telemetry""""" and a bunch of services I don't use, reboot again, update, reboot again, then finally can read a guide to know how to install WLS, reboot again. IO now averages 85% so I just need to leave the computer alone for 10 minutes instead of 20 after having logged on, and it boots in only 3 minutes. i can know fully appreciate the power of ubuntu of being unable to interact with the windows subsystem.

>dsable telemetry when microsoft owns huge fraction of the western IP addresses
>"i'll just block it in my firewall"-retard

This. I'm actually the user who circulated the CEIP meme.
There's no way to disable the other superhidden tasks and schedules unless you have NSA NT/kernel level account the NSA only knows how to manage

>Trusting an operating system that forces to actively limit the amount of information it collects from you

Just installed w10 n ltsb in kvm a few minutes ago. First impression is that modern hardware and modern host and guest software runs very very fast compared to how I remember. only going to play around with it nothing serious so no concern about it uploading data to skynet.

>cygwin
>still has Microsoft filesystem
>still runs Microsoft services
>still requires Microsoft Installation Wizard for software
>lmao drivers for everything
Yeah nah

>blue titlebars

use the deafult retard

>cygwin
>i've been living under a rock for the past two years and i have no idea that microsoft implemented a linux subsystem that maps linux syscalls to windows apis and is now able to run almost any 64bit elf you throw at it
The absolute state of linux users.

I have several projects where I edit the code in windows and compile in wsl because the tooling is a lot easier to set up and I never had this issue.

Why?

because it looks like trash.

>black taskbar
>blue titlebars
>disgusting dark theme

>NSA/Windows
>disable telemetry
The absolute state of pajeet

>i dont understand traffic
Damn, you just proved a live demonstration of anti-botnet tools not working wrong.

>"linux on windows"
its userspace binaries with the windows kernel

clearly they cant use Linux because its GPL'd

nice bait OP

because I can install windows on linux

God it feels great to be king.
Time to see what linux is all about!

REDHAT ON SUICIDE WATCH

really ? all i see is that you are running bash, apt and openssh-client.
where exactly are you running linux ? does it support kvm ?

Why would I want my OS having a completely uneccesary layer of spyware tier garbage running underneath?

Why would I go out of my way to try to fix a shitty operating system when I can use the real thing? Windows is buggy trash.

Microsoft Admits Windows 10 Automatic Spying Cannot Be Stopped

why are linuxfags so sensitive?
is it all the soy milk???

>Microsoft Admits Windows 10 Automatic Spying Cannot Be Stopped
On the Home edition.

Here's Microsoft's response to the retard who made a twitter rant after he misconfigured the telemetry policy and claimed that Windows actually ignores the settings.
>theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/3010547/microsoft-says-its-best-not-to-fiddle-with-windows-10-enterprise-group-policies
>Microsoft responded late Monday night with a statement explaining: "Enterprise users are able to configure the necessary settings to achieve zero emissions and we provide guidance and actual script to configure their systems. We don't recommend turning off the settings as it disrupts user experiences and security.
>"We give our customers a number of choices to help manage telemetry settings for an enterprise environment and how to confirm these settings."

And here's a quote from the official documentation:
>docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/manage-connections-from-windows-operating-system-components-to-microsoft-services
>You can configure telemetry at the Security level, turn off Windows Defender telemetry and MSRT reporting, and turn off all other connections to Microsoft network endpoints as described in this article to help _prevent Windows from sending any data to Microsoft_.

>b-but you can't REALLY disable it
>b-but hardware backdoors

The point is that it's not cygwin, which was what the post claimed.

Windows doesn't decide to update. It tells you that it needs to reboot and then you reboot whenever you want. Unless you're using the Home edition.

...

>not cygwin
It kinda is

>cygwin requires you to recompile the software from source and link it to the cygwin dll
>wsl lets you run native linux binaries
>it's kinda cygwin

Linux* for windows
>windows
>runs some GNU utilities

Cygwin
>Windows
>runs some GNU utilities

Same thing, just goes about it differently. Why wouldn't you just run Linux?

>Windows doesn't decide to update
>It tells you that it needs to reboot
kek

Can you edit Linux files?

Linux for Windows
>runs pretty much everything you could possibly care about and also allows you to use the same repositories that the actual distro uses

Cygwin
>runs some of the things as long as you manage to compile it or if it happens to exist in the cygwin repo

>Why wouldn't you just run Linux?
Wine
>barely runs anything unless it's 10 years old
>if it runs it's full of bugs

With Windows + WSL I can easily run all applications I care about. With Linux + Wine I can't.

>Can you edit Linux files?
Within Linux? Yes.
From Windows? Yes, but it's going to fuck up the linux permission metadata and break stuff if the application you're editing it completely overwrites the file instead of just writing the contents, which is what many text editors do.

What applications are you running that you can't use Wine for?

Why use the reverse WINE when you could just run Linux?

How does it work with the Windows filesystem? What about networking? How does the Linux version of netwroking work with Windows?

>runs pretty much everything you could possibly care about
>applications I care about

tell me where i can get an enterprise license without owning a large business or using russian cracks and i'll count that as relevant.

>muh photoshop

Yep, solid UI + support for all professional application-suites + all cli-tools you could ask for.
Hardware Support? Yes. Everything just works (R).
But muh tiling window manager! I need 5 terminals running top! Fuck off, kids.

>What applications are you running that you can't use Wine for?
Pic filename related in >Why use the reverse WINE when you could just run Linux?
See above.

>How does it work with the Windows filesystem?
All drives are available as /mnt/drive_letter

>What about networking? How does the Linux version of netwroking work with Windows?
You mean network file shares or networking in general? It mostly just works. Network shares weren't available until recently.

Sadly no support for FUSE it seems. I would love to be able to use sshfs.

heh, basically wsl completely bypasses the win2k driver which powers windows in general in favour of the linux driver which is basically a driver which translates linux syscalls into NT syscalls not Windows as the NT kernel was designed to be modular and was gonna incluide a *nix subsystem BSD and win2k and some other shit, so yes all networking file access and so on works, and you do basically boot linux in windows, it is not a virtual system and has access to hardware directly, i personally installed Arch linux and it works very well so far also managed to install i3gaps and direct it to a windows version of xorg server though ALSA doesnt work yet and its incredibly slow like extremely slow but MS's goal for now is not performance but full compatibility

this guy^M
has done stuff like this before^M
i can tell these things^M

dokan-dev.github.io/
github.com/dokan-dev/dokan-sshfs
github.com/Foreveryone-cz/win-sshfs

u can install any distro my dud even if not supported, i personally managed to install Arch linux

I tried dokan some time ago and couldn't get it to work, gonna try again. Thank you!

It's not the most pleasant experience but it does work.
It's mainly due to applications seeing it as a local drive and then trying to do disk io intensive work with it.
For example a git integration for explorer might make you wait 10 seconds every time you open a folder.

What do you use PhotoShop for?

Are you concerned about your professional work being tied to a single, proprietary medium? Do you own the works you create if you don't own the program? Do you think it's too hard to use other programs, and what does it say about your skill level?

The unexamined life is not worth living ;^]

because

>What do you use PhotoShop for?
Image editing.
I also use several other programs for which the alternatives are all at least slighty worse. No reason to change what already works.

>Are you concerned about your professional work being tied to a single, proprietary medium?
No.

>Do you own the works you create if you don't own the program?
Don't care.

>Do you think it's too hard to use other programs
It's been a while since I've used other programs for the same purpose but I do believe that there's plenty of things that are easier or more straightforward to do in Photoshop compared to some alternatives.
>and what does it say about your skill level
Absolutely nothing, doing things the harder way doesn't make you better at doing things.

If you use power tools to build a house you should rethink your job as a carpenter, what does that say about your skill level?
Screwdrivers are the way to go.

There should not be any traffic if I do not type something into my webbrowser or have anything running at all you fucking fucktwit. The fact that there is any traffic whatsoever makes me crazy. I want my OS to shut the fuck up.

A carpenter owns the powered tools, and has learned the techniques that do not require powered tools. He is able to perform his craft without the use of powered tools.

>Don't care.
How do you ever get work when you care so little about your trade?

>hardware backdoor
Yeah I guess I just install gentoo to get rid of that

I am a programmer, does it matter what I edit images with?
