>he doesn't use an automatic formatting tool

> Hey, guys, let's invent a character whose sole purpose is indentation.
> Okay, but what if we just use spaces instead.

>he doesn't indent with 4 tabs

What anime is this from?

So do Golang users just write everything on one line and then run gofmt on it?

What fucking papers are you writing where you need to indent?

Tabs > Spaces

reverse image you cuck

I use size 12 tabs because fuck you.

>Not knowing GTO
End yourself right now. Or read young GTO and GTO and watch the anime

gay

this

>he doesn't program in brainfuck

The mistake was setting the default tab width in most editors to 8.

>he doesn't let his IDE handle formatting inconsistencies automatically

:set tabstop = 1

gofmt hook on save

I absolutely fucking despise working with files or editors that use spaces instead of tabs. So horrible.

>Not programming in whitespace

I indent with 3 spaces, and if a comment is on a line that has code, I indent further right with like 4 or so tabs.

programmers hate him...

Why does the default matter? Set it to whatever looks right for you, and don't use it for alignment.

>He doesn't mix spaces and tabs
Variety :^)

>he doesn't use 4 "1-spaced' tabs

>she uses blanks

>He indents with 4 tabs

>he indents at all
Brainlet tire.

>He doesn't indent with -1 tabs
#include

int main()
{
for (int i = 1; i

I honestly do not get why people use spaces to indent. So, without starting a flame war, may someone who uses spaces for indentation please tell me why you do so?

I use tabs because:
- A tab is a single character.
- This tab character may "appear" as however many spaces as you want. This value may be changed by nearly all editors.
- Any programmer who views your code can set the appearance of tab characters to his or her preferred size. The resulting file does not actually change from this.
- Tabs take up less space than spaces, unless you are indenting with a single space.

Who is everyone quoting?

>he doesn't just put 90% of code in one line with occasional random enters, spaces and tabs

look at this fucking nerd haha

I use tabs because its more comfy for me despite pep-8 suggesting whitespaces

t. pythonfag

It's probably just a habit that's hard to get rid off

I'm quoting this guy:

only dumb retard niggers use 4-char-width-tabs. Get with the times, grandpa
kernel.org/doc/html/v4.10/process/coding-style.html

Great Teacher Onizuka, a show you should know

>t. brainlet whomst doesn't know how to use meme arrows

i use spaces because the width is defined and allows enforcement of a sensible column limit.

What a fucking nigger

>indent with 4-char tabs
>align with space
max comfy

What is the difference? I set it to insert two spaces when I hit tab. If you don't like it, I'm pretty sure your editor can convert it to tabs with one command/click.

>not writing all your code minified

>t. a retarded newfag

>imblyign

This is at least a legitimate reason. Though I can't say I have felt any need to enforce column limits even once over the past twenty years. I am not coding on a 80x24 VT100 anymore.

2 spaces only NO TABS

tab is 8 spaces wide, no less and no more.
You are to use only monospace fonts or we will hunt you down and hurt you.
Use anything else and you should be removed from any programming project because you are cancer to it.
