What color temperature does Sup Forums recommend for f.lux/redshift?

What color temperature does Sup Forums recommend for f.lux/redshift?

This shit is a fucking game changer.

2300K master race

Explain to me the point discoloring a monitor. I don't get it. I like seeing accurate colors. That's why I have a nice monitor with true to life display.

>die from sleep exhaustion 2 years later

It makes my eyes happier at certain hours

Placebo effect. Stop staring at a screen for a few hours a day and your eyes will be much healthier than redshift with no break.

Use that time to exercise fatty.

>if I use it, so that it's easier to spend long time in front of computer
>LAMO DUDE JUST DONT SPEND SO MUCH TIME IN FRONT OF COMPUTER
go away, imbecile

Blue light fries melatonin and causes headaches

It's a bunch of shit
You can't stop the "blue light" from an electronic device just by making the pixels more orange
this shit is gunnar glasses tier

literally just go outside sometimes

don't sit at the computer 24 hours a day and blame the computer for hurting your eyes

>placebo effect
See

>you can't stop emission of light in certain wavelengths by forcing it to emit other wavelengths instead
i hope this is bait

>sit in front of blue artificial light all day and night
>eyes hurt and sleep is disturbed

>sit in front of warm artificial light all day and night
>eyes and sleep are both better

I WONDER WHICH I WILL CHOOSE

Even a screen completely filled with bright orange is actually mostly blue, it needs to be or it would have too little energy and be dim as fuck. Colour is relative and even blue light can look orange.

okay this is definitely bait, i was getting worried there for a second
very elaborate, though, respect

>Placebo effect
fucking niggers man. why are you on Sup Forums?

>the state of education

This, I have a command in my startup applications just running redshift at a constant 2300. It's great.

>still trying
fish during peak retard hours, friendo, not now

>can't stop the blue light by making it orange
orange means that there is no blue light

it means you marginally tinted your screen towards orange while CFL tubes or LEDs are still beaming bright electronic light into your retinas or else your your screen would look like orange and black dogshit if it were even bright enough for you to appreciate the fact

>fake nigger science
uv light is "blue" now?

what a dumb fuck. stop existing.

f.lux et al work by directly shifting backlight spectrum away from blue ie lowering white point. not to mention non-backlit displays don't have the blueshift in the first place, you autistic moron. now fuck off.

>not just inverting the whole screen

This histogram from my camera disagrees. Essentially zero blue, except a very small amount at the bottom end (aka dark).

>This shit is fucking placebo memeshit
ftfy also Pangobright. Actually easier on your eyes without having to discolor everything you see.

Been using flux for years but is shit now on Linux. I use Redshift and just change the temperature from the command line. I use 2700 and It's great. Still enough to see colors but warm enough to soothe my eyes late at night. Hell I even use it during the day.

Software buttons were a mistake.

5000 day
3500/4000 night

Jesus. 2500 for night, 3500 for day. How are you not blind?

Downloaded f.lux to try it out and it's gay as shit. Why can't I disable the time and location shit and just have the filter 24/7?

Where can I buy an actual filter to put before my screen?

just set it up in your monitor or graphics profile if it's going to be on 24/7

But you can you nigger.

just get up at 5am, use a computer in a naturally lighted room, don't be a normie that uses flux

It's still running the shitty programs for it and unnecessarily using resources. Why didn't they just make some slider and an on/off switch and have the rest be optional?

Is Redshift any less retarded?

Are you doing image processing on a professional calibrated monitor?
No?
Then fuck your "accurate colors".

You will be surprised, what your brain does with the colors.

can i do this on windows 10?

because the point of it is to make your screen red during the NIGHT

redshift minimal is

>Placebo effect.
Bullshit. I remember how fried my head was at night when there was no flux type stuff, now I can't look at a default 6500K display after sunset.

Yeah go to display option as set night light to your time you can adjust the temperature from there.

I use Redshift. Never tried Flux, but I guess it's not that different.
Once I used Redshift for the first time I never looked back. And the warmer colors fit perfectly with my Gruvbox colorscheme. It looks nice and it's easier on the eyes.

They're too cheap to get proper blue light filters in their glasses

And white balance have nothing to do with it, right?

The same that the lights in my room have. 2,800 K

>try to install redshift
>can't find a location and closes the installer
wtf does it need that shit for anyway? i dodged a bullet

This shit is pure placebo.

To figure out when the sun goes down, i. e. it gets dark in your area. You don't need it. You can set your location or the time manually, too.

[redshift]
brightness-day=0.75
brightness-night=0.5
temp-day=3500
temp-night=2500

>why does something that adjusts color temp based only my location need my location?

Why does single digit iq retards like you waste oxigen anyway?

My eyes start to hurt when I look at a bright monitor, especially when the background is dark.

Literally cannot stare at a monitor without special glasses and a filter.

What's an alternative that just lets me set the color then? I don't need that other shit

Why I hate flux, there is better blue filters out there, I go to bed at 11-12, why fuck up my colors at 6? Also, you think it'd know based on time zone or location, why does it need it manually?

niggas whom do no not use sct get tha fuck out

jesus christ I'm so happy I don't need to use those, macOS/W10 built-in ones are much better

Light your room, fagget.

>Lmao how is sleep deprevation from light at night even real??? Just step away from the screen!!!!

Although you write like a stupid cattle nigger atleast you got one thing right
-rw-rw-r-- 1 portage portage 4.5K May 13 22:19 sct-0.4.tar.gz

If I wanted a screen that looked like it was soaked in piss I wouldn't have spent so much money.

This shit makes my eyes hurt and after a few nights makes me very irritable flux or new built-in windose shit.

I use redshift with standard settings, it makes a picture more warm during a night, I like the placebo effect.

I heard they're adding a built-in one in KDE soon

ok i won't use what actually works thx

You forgot a 'niger' somehere in there.

>new IP
What did he mean by this?

Unless you're in a dark room, or trying to sleep with a screen in front of you, it's useless.

Faggots be like "b-b-but my eyes hurt when I turn it off". Yeah no shit idiots, that's your Melatonin trying to wake you up. You're not supposed to be using it during the day.

Probably have it for 2 years at 3400K. I don't notice it anymore, except when sometimes games launch and there's a second where the screen gets back to 6700K or whatever before going back to 3400K. I just can't my eyes would probably burn.

You faggots are way to light sensitive. I can accidently leave the light on in my room at night and get a good nights sleep just fine.

...

Daylight: 5500K
Sundown: 3400K
Night: 2700K

i don't do any kind of graphic work (except for occasional photo editing) so i balance between blue light not fucking with my eyes and porn still being watchable

Get 4chinsX and get amazed by this useless feature

The blue colour spectrum blocks melatonin production in the brain, putting you off your natural sleeping cycle. Think of it like this: naturally, you see a blue sky during the day. As the day goes yellow, orange then dark, melatonin generation kicks in. Redshift helps you lower the spectrum-exposure that you get from the blue and white lights the monitor emits.

I also use yellow tinted glasses whenever working in the office, since the neon lights in wintertime (dark after 4pm) are fucking my sleeping schedule way up.

My advice would be to use it for a month with everything you do, then try going without it. You won't. It's good for your eyes.

Thinking the same as this guy.
I am in front of a monitor between 14 to 16 hours each day and this for the last like 18 years. I don't give a fuck and my eyesight is normal. My room is pitch-black except the light from the monitors for like 5 or 6 hours in the evening each day. No problems.
>inb4 image processing
Yes. Also videos and playing a few older games.

see It's not about eyesight, although it does make things better for some. It's about sleeping and not keeping you up all night.

By your facts then, you should always be tricking your body into going to sleep, even when you're at work, during the day, when you're supposed to be in an alert state? Why? What makes you think this is natural?

And of course it "hurts your eyes" when you go without it. That's your Melatonin trying to wake you up, and that's a good thing, when you're supposed to be awake.

Daylight: unchanged or used for gamma correction
Sundown: 4000K
Sleep (21:15-06:00): 2600K

When I go to bed I am asleep in less than 5 minutes. Don't know what problem you guys have. I am not even trolling. A friend of my has always light in his room. If I would do that I would get headaches and maybe I could not sleep well then. I just work the other way around, it seems.

6500K

Good on you. I used to be up until 2-3AM, which is not feasible when I have meetings 9 in the fucking morning. Try it still, it's easier to understand what the whole deal is about. Maybe you will like it, maybe you won't. It's a good idea to give it a month either way, imho.

non sequitur

I put it on 4000k at night, the same temperature as the lights in my room

I just lower the brightness and maybe the whitelevels in the movies I watch (while increasing black levels)

3k for me

pwm (probably)

just put it as low as it will go. Thank me later

If flux works so well, why not just sit in front of your monitor with sunglasses on you fucking garbage placebo cancer

Flux/Redshift shills, please get your newfag placebo out of this board.

Why the fuck are you using Linux if you're too dumb to just use a solarized light theme?

>hurrdurr placebo
>why don't you use my placebo
