Does anyone here own the MI Notebook Air? It looks amazing, but with such a low price I can't help thinking it's too good to be true. Xiaomi seems to have an overall good reputation though, so I could conceive of it not being a scam. I can't find a single similarly spec'd laptop for under 1000 elsewhere.

botnet

Don't care, I use Google products, I'm already way too deep into the botnet.

then post somewhere else

no u

It would suck if it was DOA etc and you had to internationally ship it back.

Yes, that would suck, I hadn't considered that. Shipping would cost a fuck ton as well and I don't know if I'd be compensated for it.

I got the i5-7200U version last week from gearbest. Almost everything works perfectly, great screen, great keyboard and great touchpad with really fast boot times.
But I've already filed a support ticket with gearbest because of two things:
The little stand on bottom right corner seems to be a bit too short, so when the device is sitting on a flat surface I can press the laptop down there.
Also, and this is my main issue, one of the fans makes a grinding noise. Not very loud, but definitely noticeable in a quiet environment. I've already tried to see if I can oil it, according to some post on a forum I found there should be a sticker on the fans that you can remove but there wasn't on mine.

Can you link me to this?

I had the grinding fan noise problem, just opened the case and blasted some strong compressed air on it and it went away

Can I get it cheaper if I don't want windows 10 installed in it?

iirc the ubuntu one is 200 bucks cheaper but is only on the smallest sized one

That'll do! Do you have a link? Google isn't throwing up any.

If you ever see a side by side comparison of the mibook air and macbook air you will see that it is a distant second to the macbook

This looks nice.

Any Xiaomi Air without the shitty nvidia graphics?

gearbest.com
It's always sold out when I check

Did you let the fan spin?

Sure, google.com

Fuck off shill.

Wow, user thanks for the info. Yes, truly the Xiaomi® Mi™ notebook is one of the best you can buy. It looks amazing and its price is so low they are practically giving it away. Plus as you point out you have the solid reputation of Xiaomi® one of the top manufacturers out there. You literally can't find another laptop like this for the price.
Xiaomi® Mi™ notebook is definitely the one to go for. Could you help us out by posting an affiliate link where we could buy this fine product that needs no shilling online?

Yeah

Now put side by side their prices.

Buying something made in China is one thing, trusting something controlled by a Chinese company is another thing. Who knows what kind of survalince is installed in the motherboard.

I had the air 12, bios bricked itself after 4months. Gearbest offered for me to ship it back (Aus to China economic takes 4 weeks minimum and $100) then charge me for a repair then ship it back to me for another 4 weeks. Told them to go fuck themselves and got a measly $50 partial refund since I'm a student and require it. Bought a ThinkPad 13 and haven't looked back. The Xiaomi heated up like a mother fucker and this is staying under 35celsius.

Heh, I reread the OP and I can see how it comes across that way. Maybe I should become a shill, if you guys really think I'm good enough to be one
Okay, thanks user, that's good to know. I can't say I'm surprised.
Also good to know. I had a Samsung Series 7 Slate (win7 tablet, ahead of its time) and I had a fan grinding issue. I took it apart and ended up accidentally breaking the fan while trying to take it out of its place because it was made of cheap shitty plastic. Never could find a replacement fan either.

kill yourself please.

1000 $ ? That's almost the price of my desktop .... Wtf do you need a laptop with such power yet suck at overheating

Well, not to be an ass, but the whole point of this thread is that the laptop is only about $750 and has great specs. And I currently have a laptop with an i5, 4gb ram, an ssd and integrated graphics and it can hardly run office, a browser and an IDE simultaneously. I'm in college and I need a laptop that can do these things without having to worry about resource management because that's just a waste of time and I've got too much other shit to do. So that's why I need a laptop with a high price tag.

An X220 can run those no problem speaking from experience. Download more ram.

Does the fingerprint sensor in the touchpad work properly?

both start at $999 lol

i have the same problem with mine. I'll try it out since returnin it back won't probably be possible for me

lol did your parents tell you your a special kid

fucking how, please?

I heard they cover doa

>photo in OP is i5 + 940MX
>hurr durr here's an m3-6Y30 for $500

Were your parents related?

what do you want instead? integrated??

kys

I wouldn't recommend getting xiaomi laptop, how do you gonna fix if something broke ? Get something from reputable brand like asus lenovo apple hp dell etc..

gearbest.com/laptops/pp_421980.html

You seem to be having a seizure so here's what you're looking for.

ffs

how are you gonna fix any of those other brands if shit in them breaks?

fucking everything in apple is an overpriced proprietary nightmare secured with space-age screws and glue, lenovo (thinkpads excluded) are tough to find parts for, asus is flimsy, and HP and dell fall the fuck apart if you even try to open them

if you are buying a laptop for repairability and it is not a thinkpad, you are gonna have a bad time

It's Chinese model not available worldwide, spare part, repair center and rma is almost impossible. Those reputable brand have at least repair center even on africa middle east south america etc.

>hurr durr can you read
>start at $999
>start at
the retard talked about the "starting price" oh well, xiaomi air notebooks start at $400 probably your parents are the ones are related, don't you say?

i have one. the heat and throttling suck ass when running photoshop (for drawing). its still better than thr mbp i was using

Didn't have any problems so far, it's actually really fast

Link??

How is it integrated in Windows? Special software required? Would it survive a clean install?

OP here.
Is everyone on Sup Forums a retard who doesn't know how to use Google or even read? It's fucking astounding to me that that entire conversation even happened in the year of 2017 where everyone on planet earth has access to what is essentially the sum of all human knowledge known as the internet. If you guys are seriously incapable of determining the price of a product while having access to such an easy to use and bountiful resource, I worry deeply about how long it is until you forget how to breath.

i5 with turboboost and a dedicated gpu without a proper cooling, literally a portable housefire.

Well done. Have a (((you)))

If you didn't get the GeForce MX150 notebook, kill yourself
