So, now that Youtube UI looks "merry", why aren't you using MPS-Youtube?

Good taste in content. No sarcasm.

>Youtube UI looks "merry
wut? I just use stylish

>why aren't you using MPS-Youtube?
I am, (mostly for music playlists) but honestly I prefer to see the thumbnails for videos.

>having to download an entire video
literally lmao

>he doesn't know mpv supports streaming
brainlet

I'm using youtube-viewer

How do you do this

mpv

The command line doesn't bite, user. Play around with it. Worst that can happen is an error and you get sent to the prompt again.

mpv supports yt streaming out of the box. You can just type mpv $URL and that's it
Pic related. My mpsyt config
You can also set it so it doesn't show a video window and you get audio only

>youtube-viewer
Seems better than mpsyt with the gtk frontend, which is why I don't like mpsyt very much

Oh ok that's cool. But how do you keep track of your subscriptions?

Wait, so would I grab the url from mps, and then open it via MPV, or is there a way to pipe the video straight into mpv?

mpsyt doesn't really do that hence why I'm not really a fan. It was originally conceived to listen music from YT without having to use the browser.

Youtube-viewer seems more like what you're looking for but I haven't tried yet.

YouTube API maybe? You could write a simple script

Rss

are there any console-based rss clients?
>that you would actually use

newsbeuter

>been looking for RSS clients about a year or so before the fall of Google readader
>best I came across was TTRSS
>for one reason or another the server got wiped every know and then and lost all my feeds
>never thought of looking for a console client
>newsbeuter
I feel like I'm gonna cry user

where do i find rss links on youtube? i don't know much about youtube besides just playing video, don't even have an account

oy veyy.. >not having services to open urls with mpv

hmm, found these;
youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=CHANNELID
youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?user=USERNAME
youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?playlist_id=YOUR_YOUTUBE_PLAYLIST_NUMBER

tested the playlist one, which works, though i'm only seeing the latest 15 entries, not sure if that's a youtube thing or a newsbeuter thing, though (never used newsbeuter... or rss before, i only know the general idea of rss)

Don't forget to add your API key to access your non-public playlists.

...

i don't have a youtube account
not sure what i'd use a custom playlist for, either, if i wanted to keep something for rewatching, i would simply download it

>vichan
anonie...

What the fuck is Manlet Tears doing in that picture?

In that case you can just create a local playlist (favs?) and play it whenever you want.

Excuse me, since when baneposting is shit?
I'm serious

Your a beeg boii

are you following the right conversation? this is about replacing the functionality of subscriptions, not custom playlists
as in, a means of finding out when new videos are added to a user/channel/playlist

>this is about replacing the functionality of subscriptions
AFAIK you can't have subscriptions unless you have an account. Unless you count RSS which has been mentioned already.

are you ok?

o kurwa siemanko

mpv and youtube-dl have problems with some videos. just like they do with pornhub
