In case this isn't bait - my college bought new computers 4 years ago. Windows 10 takes 20 minutes to boot and another 10 minutes to open Firefox. I'm not even joking, and that's WITHOUT deep freeze and all that jazz.

idk dude, my own laptop is now 2 year old and Win10 runs better than any of the distros and DEs I have used.
My sister uses that desktop for anime/TV/yt whatever watching and downloading torrents and it is perfectly fine. I'll post screenshot of specs when I get home.

switched to i3wm, it was fucking ridiculous, at first i tried to hold back and stay at gnome 2.X but the shit got very unstable and not comfy at all so i said by to compiz and switched to gnome 3.
But no, that shit was to fucking pathetic, having to install a fucking app to just change the top bar color or hide that awful dock and then each major update every plugin broke.
At the moment i have baobab, nautilus and calculator, gnome is dead for me
