which cooler master keyboard is good

I know this may be retarded, but, if I get a keyboard with a nordic layout and then switch the keycaps to the UK ones, will just switch in the Windows setting be enought? Or do I have to buy an specific software to do that change?

Low-profile short travel is the next meme. #goflat

>setxkbmap gb
install gentoo

When can I get the ultimeme 60% low profile short travel keyboard?

Is that keyboard any good? I was thinking about buying it.

Technically, your keyboard is sending keycodes and Windows interprets it to characters in selected layout.

That's why I'm asking, I have an UK ISO x250 and I just switched the keyboard in the settings and such. Just to make sure.

I hope to find out soon.

item.jd.com/4781628.html
user last thread discovered 68 key wireless version. Begs for an assdrop for triple the price :^)

hi owo

Does this keyboard exist with an ISO layout?

It's really comfortable to type on.
Switches feel nice and the short activation distance allows me to be just a tiny bit faster than on a "normal" keyboard.
The keycaps are not the best quality though. (And since it's not a normal mx clone switch, they will be harder to replace)
Also, the detachable cable is stupid though - you can't replace it because most normal microusb cables won't fit in that tiny opening in the case.
But overall, fot that price, it's good.

ISO is dumb and ugly, learn to use the proper ansi™ layout.

It's a shame the leds are blue color and the switch is also blue. Must be loud af.

quieter than cherry blue, but (obviously) louder than non clicky switches.

Would you care to record a video typing on it? I would like to hear how it sounds.

can someone tell me what's the keyboard in OP's post? it looks really nice

Well, the colour is obviously a personal preference, but I like the shade of it. It looks reserved, "non-gamery".
youtu.be/9UhLZ9AWHJM?t=7m14s comparison with MX Blue

Shit where to get these blanks?

I'm using it at work so I can do it on monday.
But there are several videos on youtube already
youtube.com/watch?v=9UhLZ9AWHJM&t=6m28s
youtube.com/watch?v=1jKQhUlKeck&t=2m25s
youtube.com/watch?v=2MiO-dYWzac&t=2m34s

It's literally in the OP as well as on the keyboard itself.

I would love to get this keyboard but too bad I'm fucking German which means I need a keyboard with a German layout.

i'm probably retarded but magicforce doesn't give me a lot to work with

>be me
>love my gateron blues tada68
>play TF2 again for the first time on months, after mostly sitting on xcom when I had time at all
>mfw the longer key travel compared to rubber domes made it awkward when playing fast-paced

Should I get this flat meme you guys are talking about right now? Or should I look for something with kailh speed reds or some shit? I have no regard for keycaps and build quality because I'm literally only going to use it for FPS games

I think it's called Magicforce 84, being the tkl version (inb4 someone proves that I'm the retard here). Search on aliexpress or something

Learn to use QWERTY and use right alt for the umlauts. QWERTZ was a mistake.
Or just touch type and ignore the key legends.

Are you German? Because that's easier said than done :)

thanks guys uwu

Polish. So my language also has a few "strange" letters.

The oOfficial" polish keyboard is also qwertz (with different accents than the german one, obviously), but since back in the 80s-90s it was hard to get anything in that layout, many people just used what was most widely available, which is QWERTY.
Now almost nobody uses the qwertz layout (I don't even know if it's still possible to buy a new keyboard in the polish qwertz layout) and most people prefer qwerty. Apple was probably the last company who tried to sell laptops with the "national" keyboard and didn't understand why everyone opted to order and wait longer for american layout.
My first computer had QWERTZ keyboard, every one after that had QWERTY. Using alt for some letters quickly becomes a habit and that leaves more keys for easily available symbols. Better for programming.

Why this is garbage so expensive

they are like unicorns and people value unicorns much better that a horde of orks

this layout is ridiculous

>massdrop has tada68s

Holy shit hold me

>tfw can't justify buying it due to buying into the veearr meme
fudge, regret what i spent my little money on.

I saw it but I went with an ALPS kbp instead because datacomp ALPS look interesting and I like my ALPS and ALPS clones

What is so special about that colorway as to spend $140 dollars on it?

You can buy an entire realforce for that price and the default keycaps look basically the same.

Because you're looking at the premium ABS version rather than the thicc dyesub PBT version

Just built this. 22mini B from winkeyless kr. Gateron yellows with korean 55g springs. sorry for shit photo

this is in one of the other threads but is this still accurate? seems to say that blues are worse than clears

You go blues cause you want the click and a little bit of tactile, if you want tactile go clears
The picture is obviously an exaggeration but the opinions are still kinda true

Newly released: Unicomp's Ultra Classic in Pearl White. Been lurking their site for months and now that it's here, I don't think I want it (shipping is $60 to Canada). Buy now and they'll throw in colored ansi keys for lower price. Dunno.

i basically want to feel a lot of resistance and have it require more weight to actuate. are clears better than blues if i have that specific preference?

>most gaterons in "pretty good territory"

A+ opinions

Are there low profile, compact versions that I could use as a travel keyboard? Are there any that also support bluetooth?

ok with cherry browns, and getting the chink hhkb posted last thread. what is a similar gateron switch?

Leddit-tier
>shipping is $60 to Canada
Really? That is absolutely insane. Depending on where you're located it may well be cheaper for you to pick it up in person, and make a road trip out of it.

amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071HBFN2T/

Any good, lads?

probably not. buy it and tell us

Gatreon browns

Think of clears as heavier browns with a bigger bump and greens as heavier blues.

Why don't you read the reviews cs cuck?

better off with greens than blues

wanted greens but they werent an option. i ended up with clears. is that better for what i want compared to blues?

that will still be good. everyone seems to like them. they are definitely heavy so they're what you want unless you wanted a click

is Cherry mx blue really that loud?

QuickFire Rapid
Linus approved

as far as the "click" goes, is that just audible? or is there an actually difference you can feel?

Hello guys, my first post here, so let's hope this goes well ;)

Here it is:

It only cost me 8£ brand new. Why is it good you ask? I shall tell you. Well, first of all: this keyboard is from Logitech, which is undoubtedly the best keyboard manufacturer today. It is a rather common keyboard, yes; but because it is a Logitech, somehow it doesn't feel cheap. It's like the brand itself makes a crappy keyboard turn into a great one. I don't know, Logitech has always made me feel comfortable with cheaper products. The keys are superbly well distributed, and your fingers won't touch the surrounding keys like some other ones I've tried. The keys are also not very soft, nor very hard to press down on. You know, this keyboard makes it just right, so that you can actually take advantage of the impulse that the rebounding keys give you.

This keyboard makes you feel like gravity is actually working WITH you, rather that against you.

Another thing I absolutely love about it, is the space bar. It is just the right size, and not too small or too big like on some other crappy keyboards from other manufacturers. The space bar is the most balanced key in the whole keyboard, it sits right at the center, and you can actually use it without looking at the keyboard. I mean, that's just brilliant design.

It's an USB keyboard. This makes it perfect for use with modern computers, and even laptops and netbooks. No more using that old crappy PS/2 port. We're in 2017, people.

I could be here all day, but in the end, I just wanted to share with you my experience with this marvelous piece of peripheral engineering.

I recommend this keyboard to anyone.

So I already ordered the new usb-c poker 2 and was wondering if anyone knows whether you can solder backlight leds to it like the original poker 2

k120 is pretty sick desu

This thread is for mechanical keyboards rubber dome shill

the click feels and sounded like clicking a mouse basically. I would say just stick with the clears. the clicky switches are cool if youve never used them before but they eventually get annoying. especially if you live with anyone else and want to type at night

what's a good keyboard for mashing out code that isn't too loud

That's pretty much F-91W of the watch thread. Exquisite board.

yeah I have a quickfire blue and it's loud as fuck

anything with linear switches wont be too loud. for even quieter look for a board with mx silent red switches

I have some knockoff browns in my current keyboard and they're mediocre, I'll look into the silent reds

The loudness is caused by plastic hitting plastic. Cherry keyboards suffer from a loud sound regardless unless you put some o-rings or some mythical clips on it.

Just try pressing your browns slowly, tap them, etc, you'll see what I mean. The sound is both from bottoming out and returning.

I thought $60 shipping, which is nearly the cost of the keyboard itself, was a bit fishy. I went to the USPS calculator and typed in the size and weight of this keyboard and to my surprise that's how much it costs to ship it. Made in USA Model M keyboard. Just those words make me want it. Clearly I've fallen for the myth and legend.

who are reds for?

That's why the silent reds are good. They are doubleshot with softer material that dampens this without reducing the travel. o rings and landing pads are total shit and they dont reduce the sound of the key returning to the top.

That's weird. I sent a pair of boots to canada that weighed a ton and it was only 37 dollars.

retards

reds are great. as long as theyre lubed theres nothing wrong with them. linear switches are for anyone that just wants a solid keyboard with no added frills. the keys just go straight down. that's all you need. no need for any tactile feeling for many people. light springs and no extra resistance allows you to touch type with very minimal pressure.

Isn't lubing a meme? It's not like you can dunk the keyboard into the oil and replace keycaps after. Or at least just put a drop into the switch without disassembling each.

The lubing is really for enthusiasts (autists) only. It does help reduce the scratchy ness of the switches and feels nice. The switch stickers also are a nice touch to the feel. It can be skipped but if you are willing to take everything apart why not. It's just really tedious and takes a long time. Every switch must be de soldered and opened. It really only makes sense to do if you're building a board.

Working on narrowing down my options.

>Budget
No more than $150
>Location (continent at least)
Ohio
>Preferred switch type
Reds maybe? Almost thinking of nature whites. I have blue but hate the click and can't tell if it's the weight or just the click that I hate.
>Layout
ANSI
>Form factor
Full size, but I really like the idea of the TK style that CoolerMaster has where it's a TKL size but it has a numpad since that is a necessity for me.
>Backlight
Would be nice. Not necessary I feel. But maybe just a white backlight?
>Previous/current keyboards
Leopold FC750R. Love the feel of the PBT keys, the heft of the board, just how quality it feels, but god I don't like blues.

Currently considering the CM Masterkeys Pro M, either the regular or the RGB version if I can find one on a deal, with reds. I mostly type but also game and I just can't do both well enough with blues. Browns might be fine, too, but I tried a friend's K70 with browns and I hated the feeling of it (might've just been the awful keycaps compared to the Leopold's.)

people who never modded ALPS switches

are browns genuinely bad? moving up from rubberdome and they were recommended (i've only tested razer greens and cherry mx "speed")

Purists think anything that's not buckling spring/heavy/odd is bad.

yes
they feel like linears but more rough, they are barely tactile at all
I only like my gay rainbow corsair board with browns because it sounds decent with the metal panel for some reason
But it's not even close to my favorite board and I much prefer my older boards

but buckling spring has rubber :^)
not real mechanical same as topre

just get reds. either on the CM you mentioned or a filco.

muh games

Why are all the Topre switch keycap sets for the HHKB garbage and not a good Topre kb like the Realforce 87U?

because there's low deman for topre keycap sets compared to mx stem. theres less companies that even make them at all.

That doesn't answer the question at all

if you used sensible grammar in the original post, i would have understood your question.

There was zero mention of Topre switch competitors in the post, I can't dumb down posts for the illiterate to be able to understand.

Because the HHKB is undeniably the best selling Topre keyboard, with Leopold probably outselling Realforce too.

>Because the HHKB is undeniably the best selling Topre keyboard
I forgot premium boards only sold for circlejerking on geekhack and not for productivity these days

>topre
>mechanical
pick one

>bitching about premium keyboards on the mechanical keyboard general

>you're not allowed to buy premium keyboards and actually use them instead of just taking photos of them

I said it wasn't, just like buckling spring

I can't decide whether I should stick with colemak or revert to qwerty, I'm now slower with both than I used to be with just qwerty

I think someone's jealous.

I mean if your definition of mechanical includes NKRO then sure, but capacitive buckling springs do exist.
