because cia niggers hate it

Because my OS is declarative.

To: 62225666
I prefer other kind of time-wasters.

I'm too stupid.

I like foobar2k, visual studio, gpu overclocking tools, world of warcraft, overwatch, quake champions, and word.

>word
>in (((current year)))

someone save this lost lamb

I know I should learn latex. Maybe eventually. So many other things to learn!@

i have literally never even heard of it, but why use a source distro other than gentoo?

sourcemage.org/Comparison with Gentoo

>why use a binary distro other than the one I'm using

>That terminal font
Oh my God please kill yourself

because it's not a no name distro with literally two users and therefore has actual support, docs, and proper management like "source mage"

That is very aesthetic, except for the shitty font rendering.

>gpu over clocking
Works on my GNU/Linux machine.
>world of warcraft
You mean the game that the developers scrapped a Linux client for because Wine worked perfectly?
>overwatch
Works with wine staging.
>quake champions
Haven't tested, but it probably works.
>word
Libreoffice.
>visual studio
Emacs is better.
>foobar2k
Why?

them trips

you won't make me fall satan

Pottering said he'd beat me if I tried anything without Pulseaudio and systemd ever again.

I'm afraid of him.

Anyone on this board could destroy Lennard in a fight

not him but
Overwatch, whixh I doubt runs with wine, would run like shit with it. LibreOffice's support for my language is shit, and visual studio and foobar have some functionalities alternatives don't have
I don't get why you people always try to act likeblinux has everything windows does when it cleqrly doesn't

Overwatch works in WINE now if you have the latest mesa drivers or nvidia proprietary ones.

Wine actually runs many programs faster than Windows you idiot.

>Source Mage
mirror.sobukus.de/files/sourcemage/iso/
they don't even bother maintaining it

by the looks of it, you're not running it either and just are fuckign with it inside of a VM.
fucking pretender. you're probably some wintoddler.

Rude.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think that's a screenshot of a VM rather than the system running natively?

because im literally too dumb to make my own kernel

staying with arch until i get more proficient at linux

made me scrot/10

Arch is just a stepping stone.

This is arch with a chrooted minimal source mage installation, try again shill.

which wm is that?

evilwm

what font?
also nice trips

sgi-haebfix
you can get it here github.com/Tecate/bitmap-fonts

thank you sir,

and do you mind if I get the color scheme as well? or is that something you mixed up yourself?

It goes really well with the A E S T H E T H I C

I used wal to generate the colorscheme from the wallpaper

Installing SMGL is easy, here's the simplified process:
>boot a live Ubuntu (or whatever) USB drive
>go to SMGL website and download compressed archive of the base system
>partition and mount partition(s)
>extract the archive onto the new partition(s)
>chroot, set root passwd, hostname, configure network and locale, write fstab, install grub/lilo
>reboot
>compile a kernel (preferably the newest stable one from kernel.org)
>update sorcery, grimoires and the build toolchain
>rebuild the system (hold spells you've already built, so you don't build them twice)
The install guide will hold your hand through the whole process sourcemage.org/Install/Chroot
Do the chroot method, since the regular live ISO method guide is out of date currently.

Here's a list of common commands: pastebin.com/i4DALaNV

I like void linux better, source mage can't be installed and updated in 5 minutes

you can just use the default config
but you won't learn how to configure the kernel until you try it
gentoo has some nice docs about kernel config however
wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Kernel/Configuration
wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Kernel/Gentoo_Kernel_Configuration_Guide
also, this is nice, but quite outdated
linuxtopia.org/online_books/linux_kernel/kernel_configuration/index.html

You don't make the kernel, you just use a ncurses program to select and deselect features and drivers you want or don't want the kernel to have and then compile it from the sources

i actually tried installing smgl a few times and everything werks but after compiling a new kernel i ALWAYS end up without any kernel modules. also nothing is working (wifi etc) so im basically fucking something up. tried the default config, either. i know i can load modules manually but im a perfectionist and i will probably try gentoo before becoming a wizard

compiling the kernel is piss easy
>download the tarball from here kernel.org/
>make sure the source is clean
$ make clean && make mrproper
>configure (menuconfig is deprecated, use nconfig)
$ make nconfig
>compile (jobs is the number of cpu cores times the number of threads per cpu + 1)
$ make -j
>install the kernel
# cp arch/x86_64/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-
>install modules (modules are in /lib/modules/)
# make modules_install
>make your boot loader detect it
>done

thanks again traveler

>i ALWAYS end up without any kernel modules
did you `make modules_install`?
are you sure you even made any modules at all, did you set any tristate options to "M"?
>nothing is working (wifi etc)
Networking is like in older Debian versions, you have the /etc/network/interfaces file, you've got ifconfig and ifup and ifdown commands.
It's easy, you should figure it out, there's documentation on the Debian wiki.
Using just wpa_supplicant for wifi would make potential problems easier to diagnose.
Restart the network script when you edit the interfaces file.
You can check all the interfaces names in /sys/class/net/
Be sure the ones that show up there are the ones in the interfaces file.
Also make sure that the right wifi interface is in /etc/sysconfig/wpa_supplicant
wpa_supplicant is well documented, you can check the Debian wiki or the Arch wiki for example
For wifi you need both the kernel driver (e.g. iwlwifi for intel) and the firmware.
See wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Iwlwifi#Firmware
SMGL has a linux-firmware package, so you can just install that.
>i will probably try gentoo before becoming a wizard
SMGL is simpler than gentoo imo

hey, the ISO image they have doesn't seem to have the ext3.ko kernal model loaded? I can't mount my partition.

When I try to add it, it tell me that liblzma.so.5 doesn't exist, which it doesn't seem to?

any insight?

Someone's wrote a package to compile it for you:

pacaur -S linux-git (substitute pacaur for your AUR helper e.g yaourt).

I believe WoW and OW's ratings on winehq is "garbage"

thanks, i know how networking and wpa_supplicant works, im using it on arch
it didnt work because no wifi modules were loaded

ill probably give it a try next weekend.
is the smgl irc ded or alive?

is there any community for it?

It seems like there is no forums or anything for when you hit a dead end.

Gentoo's community sucks but its still there.

Please change your fucking font

Not sure why that is, I recommend doing the chroot method like this guy said >is the smgl irc ded or alive?
It was very alive when I was there.

>is there any community for it?
#sourcemage on Freenode

Please don't be rude.

>To: 62225666

Casting spells to install software might sound cool if you possess the mentality of a 12 year old.

How can you stand Word? I uninstalled it 5 years ago after they started pushing 50GB updates every week.

Because I unironically just Installed Gentoo

nice try satan

>foobar
Resource hog. Cmus and nmpcpp are better.

>visual studio
Resource hog, and you have to use your mouse. Vim and emacs are better.

>gpu overclocking tools
These exist on Linux retard. I can think of 3 off the top of my head.

>world of warcraft
>overwatch
pretty sure both work in wine. if not, you can use a vm with gpu passthrough.

>quake champions
this game was programmed by a bunch of pajeets. that's why playing on 1080p @ 144fps has the client send out like 500kb worth of data every second. barely works on winblows.

>word
Bloated garbage. Better free alternatives exist.

Depends. Most are slow, dumbass.

Can i get this aesthetic on ubuntu, i'm new to linux but i think i could get it setup if its possible what do i need

you can make any distro look like whatever
although I'd use debian netinst if I were you, since ubuntu is full of needless bloat

>still playing WoW in 2017

Not by my experience, stupid.
