first for /r/watches

In other words, redditors are big fucking faggots.

...

Even though I am not a white dial person this watch is fascinating for some reason.

Sup Forums probably has one of the highest number of transfags on Sup Forums, which is saying something.

So glass houses and all that.

Based on aesthetics, what are some garbage watches that you would buy if they weren't garbage ?

What is it with faggots and "computing" anyway?

What does /wt/ think of Fossil's watches? As a first entry level are they decent or trash? Pic related was my first dress watch from my girlfriend. I haven't been lurking on /w/t very long, but I haven't seen any of there watches brought up.

>dress watch
leave

...

Care to elaborate why they are shit?

It looks like absolute fucking shit and is too big to be a dress watch, aside from the fact that it's chinese junk.

No, lurk more faggot.

>Pic related was my first dress watch from my girlfriend
These are the worst kinds of gifts, shitters given with the best of intentions.

Ah, While I disagree with you on the way it looks I understand.

At the time I did not know very much about watches, and still don't arguably, but what else do you do.

How do you user's on /wt/ define shitters? Price or just specific companies, besides the fashion companies.

Tech is comparatively easy dude, and you're not going to get looked down as much nor are your ideas going to be challenged. It's not a rough blue collar job when the only gay dudes would be bears, and neither is it some stuffy STEM job where your beliefs would be constantly challenged by co-workers and possibly your very own area of study.

...

There's nothing to disagree about, it is an objectively terrible watch design. No one here can or will spoonfeed you good taste. If you really want to stop being a faggot then lurk more and take some fucking initiative to learn about horology and the history of watchmaking + watch design yourself.

Shitter is essentially some cheap ass quartz or generic mechanical watch that all use the same movements (ETA) and just put their no-name brand on the dial.

Fashion watches are a sub-set as they are purely for looks, not horology.

Thanks, I'll keep lurking.

>How do you user's on /wt/ define shitters?
Watches who nobody who knows anything would care about. Non-collectible, special in no way, or styled completely inappropriately.

They include watches at almost every price, in some price ranges the majority of models offered are shitters.

Problems with the watch you posted:
>dress-styling in a clownish 44mm size
>tourbillon-bridge on a non-toubillon watch
>"open heart" dial showing literally nothing special
>hamfisted short seconds hand to accommodate the fake tourbillon bridge
>costs as much as a service, and worth even less

You really have to experience a lot of watches before being able to tell what makes a shitter.

Memes aside is every ETA a shitter though?

I want to try an automatic watch, but I'm unsure. I think the budget ones to try are Seiko, orient, and sistem51.

How much do I lose by getting the entry level versions of an automatic?

Seiko 5's are pretty cheap. Get a new one on amazon for like $65

The movement itself is good, it's just that companies like IWC and Panerai are price gouging to the extreme. No way a $1000 watch can cost $7000+. Panerai fakes are getting so good that even Panerai collectors can't tell.

No. Some watches take the generic movement and customize it, others are nice looking well made cases and dials.

However there are plenty of carbon copy watches that only differ in the brand logo and a several thousand dollars that use exactly the same ETA movement.

No, even 2824's can be tastefully used.

I mean that I don't know much about movements and the difference between something like a bambino and whatever Rolex has that warrant 100s of times more money.

>You really have to experience a lot of watches before being able to tell what makes a shitter.

That seems reasonable. The watch was a gift from my gf and at the time I did not know anything about watches and quality of companies. So no great loss there.
Besides my g-shock I use for work the first watch I have gotten was a Orient producer.

Sure you're paying a premium but legit a lot goes into a high-end mechanical watch.

lol @ the sand nigger telling him to clip his nails

is this a good watch

Issa watch

Putting it on a black leather band might slightly improve it

Labor day weekend edition?

>what are you fags wearing in terrible health?

what even is this?

terrible health?
I pretty sure my pacemaker has a clock on it

This is honestly the only aesthetically pleasing seiko i have ever seen. Good choice man.

Seiko SARG015 on a crown & buckle strap.

Thots on the Seiko turtle reissue? your opinion on value, size, history,. aesthetics? and wrist shots if you have it

I'm loving my new piece that i just got with white dial too and i am a fan of the Explorer style

That looks like a ref. 16550. Really good reference when you get one with the cream dial.

I got a ref. 16570 Polar dial which is a lot more affordable and has a "crisper" appearance than the older model.

What does /wt/ think of this?

Good value slavshit dress watches, I have a Sekonda branded one.

What are some other watches with power reserve in the exhibition caseback?

...

God, that makes my dick hard.

The JLC Reverso Gyrotourbillion also has it.

Slavshit brothers unite!

Are there any decent chinese watches? As in, branded chinese.

...

Post grails.

Beijing Watch Factory makes some pretty nice watches.
You also have a multitude of smaller micro brands who perform pretty well, most notably here on Sup Forums, the watches from Maison Celadon are praised often.

...

I'll join you on the slavshit group once my Raketa arrives.

...

>hmm this looks good
>eta guts

Fuck. Does their in house automatic movement not fit into 36mm cases?

how accurate is the ETA 2402-2? I'm thinking of getting this or another Seiko 5 to replace my dying SNK

This was my first actual watch. I got it 3 years ago. Sadly the case is not steel, and the water resist is laughable - the crystal gets fogged on cold days. It's a nice 36mm watch otherwise.

Good morning /wt/

Did you all sleep okay?

Nice. That is one clean looking watch. And you can't go wrong with Seiko 5s.

All those Daniel Wellington fags could learn a thing or two from you.

Every one of them I've seen has had a misaligned chapter ring. If you're going to mod it later with an unmarked ring or you can look past it that's fine, but I've not seen a single new turtle I'd buy.

The design is top notch though. Comfortable, drilled lugs, good movement, etc. Execution is lacking.

I didn't really sleep last night, I woke up three times to lucid nightmares.

thanks, got it on the same day (1/9/17) i sold off my first Seiko 5 with a black dial and numerals which i got exactly a month before that, chose this one from these 3. i don't care what haters say I'm a workingfag feeding 3 mouths, the right Seiko 5 just makes life and hard work worth living for material wise.

is the bracelet of the middle watch actually just the middle link?

yup and i just couldn't accept the numerals on the bezel

where are you?

made in china, qc issues, way too large unless you are actually about to dive.

>my watch it shit, but otherwise it's nice

Morro Bay

>ROTOR
>SELF - WINDING
Why do watches over $500 still have all this bullshit slapped on the dial? 9/10 times it ruins the watch.

Quality is shit, but it's not a bad looking watch. Anyways I ordered a Seiko 5 for everyday wear.

I prefer it to "AUTOMATIC".

>actually, tudor invented self-winding watches.
>oh automatic? you mean there's other watches that are self-winding?

I like filson and I like this watch. But, I suppose filson is charging way too much for a watch that uses a generic movement.

I mean the fuck huge shitty text all over the dial. Tudor is especially bad about it. I guess it's Rolex's way of getting customers to dish out for the real deal.

The small test on this one isn't bad, but still kinda detracts from the watch. It's one thing to see cheap watches do it, but just sad for luxury brands to do.

where was this photo taken?

My 52KS Special on a new Horween shell cordovan strap.

Haute Horlogerie: Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Celestia Astronomical Grand Complication 3600 (pic related).

Production Watch: Grand Seiko SBGH001

what model is that?

...

What do you guys think of the bobo bird watch line? Meme tier or decent for the price?

>
>>hmm this looks good
>>eta guts
>Fuck. Does their in house automatic movement not fit into 36mm cases?
Remember that the eta Tudors are extensively modified; it's not like they just plunked in a stock eta fresh out of the box. This counts for something imo. I prefer in house, sure, but a modified eta from poorman's rolex is certainly better than most other brands with their bullshit "calibres" that are just stock eta with perhaps a branded rotor, if that at all.

...

No need to be a cunt, I just prefer "ROTOR SELF-WINDING" to "AUTOMATIC".

It's an unofficial trademark of Tudor, and if you think about it for a moment, it's a better descriptor.

Does that sunrise/sunset complication have calibration for degrees of latitude?

Is a $200 Beijing Watch Factory watch better than a $200 Seiko?

I imagine that's what normalfags think about non-Rolex watches. I've had people surprised when they found out my watch had not batteries.

Does Sup Forums use a deployant clasp for their expensive leather straps? Or does a buckle suffice?

...

Here to trigger more people.

A clasp can be expensive, especially on precious metal watches, at least 3 times the strap price.

So it worth it? Not sure desu.

I think it would be nicer to have a deployant clasp, but my strap came with a regular buckle and I've never really bothered to look for a clasp.

You don't really need a solid gold clasp, they always come in plain steel or gold plated for pretty much the same price. A leather strap won't last forever, anyway.

I plan to get one for my Alpinist, but more for the convenience it than preserving the ColaReb I use.

Additionally has anyone used one of StrapCode's bracelet buckles? I want to get one to replace the one on my Seiko D3A7AB.

Morro Bay

SARG015

I have them on straps that I would like to preserve the grain of. Not quite expensive since they are from Vietnam, but I'd still like to keep them in good shape.

Wristlet detected.

my dick is probably thicker than your wrist my man.
