op here i wont be buying from this particular listing cause i just realized the seller is not amazon or fullfilled by amazon so i wont risk getting a box of rocks or something

For that price you might as well get a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor.

It's expensive mostly and may not offer any real-life advantages other than bragging rights.

If you actually need two screens worth of data available at any one minute, meaning alt-tab is not enough for you, that monitor is a good option.

>Gaming
144hz 1440p

>Productivity involving small amounts of text and requirements for high color accuracy with less data on the screen at once
4K 25-32inch

>Productivity with lots of different applications all needed at once, lots of data or work out at one time, or casual gaming
Ultrawide

>gsync
Aren't freesync ones cheaper and basically do the same thing?

If you buy an AMD card, which to do 1440p at 144hz will cost you more.

Yes. Nvidia refuse to support the open standard though, even though they could do so via a driver update at any time, because they want to sell their GoySync module and add $200 to the price of any monitor including it.

The 1080 Ti is the only card which gets remotely close to 1440p/144fps in more demanding modern titles without severe culling of settings, so cost is an irrelevant issue. Even then it's still a way off.

What we need AMD to do is make good cards so that NVIDIA can't Jew everyone at that pricerange.

can't have a game open in fullscreen on one screen while having a video or some other information open on another screen

some games and videos won't play nice with the aspect ratio

my only complaints so far, I'm loving mine

everyone needs 2 screens worht of data at all times and im planning to buy this with my tax return

Ultrawide is objectively a meme

then what should i buy qith my tax returns? im happpy with everything else in my computer right now and not sure what else i would do with it

Save it you stupid fucking retard.

save it for fucking what? what good is it going to do to leave large amounts of money sitting in an account?

Emergency fund for 6 mo.

Once you got that covered look into 401ks/iras. After that, invest in index funds. If you're 20 and a devloper, retire at 30. I youre 30 and a developer, retire at 40.

>emergency fund
>early retirement

what do you think i am si2me sort of investment banker? i clean a restraunt after hours for juzt above min wage cause i couldnt afford college if i wanted to

Why not get two?

because it's already 700 dollars

I thought most people on Sup Forums are somehow software developers, IT folks, or at least somewhere in that area.

Why cant you get a better job? Learn js and make shit pages for 60k/year+ (depending on your area) or get CCNA and fuck around with networks for 60k/year+.

Fuck college. I did 3 years of pt community college, never transfered to a 4 year, ended up in web dev for 50k/year (NYC), then, year later, doing backend/devops for 130k/year. It's possible.

i cant affotd to get certs for any of that and applying for loans means i risk getting told no which is equal to failure

Join the Army..fuck it.
I did and I am already in my 3rd year of my bachelors degree debt free. They will also pay for 4 more years of school once I am out so I will finish a masters as fast as I can and at least start a PHD.
They also sent me to Sec+ for free. It's as cheap as $150 to take that test btw if you find a token in the right place.

this was meant for

with gsync/freesync you don't need to do a solid 144fps, that's the point, to look better at sub-refresh rate frame rates

Excuses. Save up money, a CCNA cert is like 125$.

Also, has a pretty good plan too. I didnt go that route because by the time I was in a place to do that, I was around 23, a bit old'ish, and had some family things keeping me from disappearing into the army.

It's tough, but you can do it. Btw, what area do you live in? Some places its easier to get out of a shithole than others.

then again i have to be able to pass the CCNA teat in the first place when im at built my computer proficiency

Does curved fuck up with viewing movies and reading?

Vega 56 comes uncomfortably close to 1080ti performance in 1440p but only in a few games.

Though I'm not sure when gaymen drivers will be optimized. It tool years for R9 drivers to reach peak optimization and performance.

I joined at 25. I was 216 pounds. When they gave me my first 1-1-1(PT Test) I threw up after half a mile and could only do 17 pushups. They let me go and by the time I left basic and AIT I was 183 pounds. I could run 13-14 minute 2 miles and do 65 pushups and situps consistently.

There's always excuses. I also had alot of family issues but my son turned two and this was the best thing for him and us. Now we are living better than ever and it's helping me build a future for when I get out.

yes. supposedly nvidia pascal was supposed to fix it with simultaneous multi-projection at least for games but i don't know how much support it has (i don't have a pascal gpu or a curved display myself so idk). but curved displays usually have a pretty subtle curvature so maybe it's not a huge deal in practice

>curved IPS

why?

Go all the way, get a 40in 4k,

50k in NYC ain't shit. 130k in NYC is barely shit.

>buying a monitor that's x:9

absolutely disgusting. I've had a 16:10 for years and feel sick looking at 16:9s

>baby duck syndrome: the post

A single man can do well in nyc on 130k if they live outside manhattan. May I ask how much do you make and do you live in NYC?

It is a really bad time to buy a monitor or tv. Everything is shifting to hdr+ and Dolby vision.
