Apart from W10 being a botnet (tm) is there anything wrong with it?
I can't use Linux because:
1. I game (massive steam library) 2. My university course requires use of MS office 3. I have a 1600x so no W8/7
I'd like to convert to linux but I don't see how I can given my use case
Asher Perez
Don't fall for the linux meme also think for yourself, stop trying to get validation on a new zealand child sex trafficking site. If you like a system and it does everything you need there is absolutely no reason for you to migrate to another, it means you are the user base of that system. Every system has faults. Windows can be a buggy shithole filled with trojans but linux will find any way to make simple things incredibly complicated (have you ever tried creating a bootable USB without using the command line?). Don't listen to Sup Forums when it comes to mobiles, systems, or graphics cards/CPUs. They will more than likely start a shit throwing competition.

Yeah I know but at least linux doesn't sell my porn browsing habits to the NSA

>the UI is trash, objectively the worst since fucking 3.1 >2menus meme >horrific mess of """features""" preinstalled that nobody wants and that really don't like being uninstalled (especially anything integrated like Cortana or the Windows Store) >scvhost.exe >scvhost.exe >scvhost.exe >scvhost.exe >autoupdate bullshit >the only way to get around 99% of this fuckery is to either pirate an enterprise only version for embedded systems or run closed source scripts that gut the update system
t. Upgraded from 7, used 10 for six months and went back go 7
Stale pasta.

>I have a 1600X so no Win7 Why not? It works perfectly fine, Microsoft tried to break updates out of spite but there's a patch that fixes it. Are you dumb enough to think Windows 7 is "incompatible" with Ryzen, when you can run native DOS or any other x86 OS?
Aiden James
The UI is better than 7 and I bought two copies of 7.
Cameron Morris
But user, there is a linux that just werks and werks well. Ubuntu. But that gets hated on because you don't have to spend every waking hour of your life configuring and fixing it.
It's not a bad idea to dual boot Win10 and Ubuntu/Debian. Get a Linux that "just werks", OP. It can be comfy and you'll get the chance to check other OS types out (still, if you don't want to check them out, there's no point). Just don't fall for the Arch meme, it's literally the pic above.
Henry Barnes
>Thinks le ebin flat meme is good >Actually BOUGHT an OS >multiple fucking copies the madman So THIS is the power of a flat UI memer
Eli Morales
Who cares, your phone does this all the time and pretty much any internet-connected device. You may as well not use the internet at all.
Luke Wilson
>I have a 1600x so no W8/7
So do I and I have W7, just use those round plug keyboards when installing
Aaron Sullivan
>he thinks the os is the only botnet
Matthew Campbell
If you truly wanted to move to Linux you would have ignored the lack of games and just play Linux ones. Or, you know, get a console or a dedicated gaming machine. Nobody requires you to use a specific office, especially universities most of which (at least here) use LibreOffice. But, if you do need to use proprietary formats you can use WPS.
>UI is better than 7 No
Kevin Butler
>2. My university course requires use of MS office Office works with Wine. Additionally, there's very little you can do with MS Office that you can't do with LibreOffice.
Henry Foster
Windows 10 is incredibly annoying, they applied the metro/modern UI shit all over classic windows that 7 was.
Nothing groundbreaking about the OS, they just wanted to join the train of the touch screens and app stores, in a very late but Microsoft-ish style.
Only things I like about 10 are the quick boot times and several desktops but both are memes for pros.
Shame that I'm a Microsoft bitch because of
>muh steam library >muh comfort zone >muh adobe shit that I need to work
Haven't used Linux since probably 2010 but I would switch back if I could.
I kinda like OSX but then again
>muh games >gotta build a hackintosh >bad nvidia support
Hunter Smith
Not OP but just because yours doesn't, it doesn't mean everyone elses magically does. >not in .doc/.docx file format >hand in to teacher >"I had trouble getting the file open, can you resubmit it?" >"You might need open office or libre office it's a word alt blah blah blah" >not misquoting literally had this said: "we get thousands of documents daily I don't have the time, please use conventional formatting"
Liam Jenkins
1. SteamOS, linux native AAA games (Civ, FM), io games (agar), VM, console gaming, growing up, tuxracer
2. LibreOffice supports MS formats, Office365, VM, if they require to use proprietary software they should provide access (licenses etc) anyway. If you really have MS office course in university you are being scammed and I feel bad for you
Owen Myers
Libreoffice can save things in .docx just fine AND MS office can open documents in .odt format as well.
Justin Peterson
hehehehhe le funny >/out/ meme upboated sandeep very funny :)

KVM + GPU passthrough for gaems virtualbox for msoffice

And this is exactly the purpose of WPS. Or, if they ask you to resend it just post a pdf like everyone else.
Zachary Taylor
Go back to Sup Forums, retard. You certainly have no business being on Sup Forums.
Asher Campbell
>teachers requesting anything other than pdf

I can't wait for fall update.
Anyway you can use linux subsystem for bash and terminal commands - so you have nothing to lose with windows 10.
Chase White
>you have nothing to lose Except your freedom and privacy

I have 1600 and there is nothing wrong with Win7. Everything works perfect.
Lucas Powell
All my games stutter on it since the creators update, Like it's literally broken if you have a Pascal card.
Carson Brooks
I find it painful to look at while using it. There is little to no real conformity to the OS itself. I mean, just looking at all the different fonts is painful.
I'm not interested in talking you into using Linux. Do what you want. But you obviously got your steam library from another computer, so that's really not an excuse.
