It's one bit creeepy and one bit serendipitous that the moment you learned about the CM MasterKeys Pro M and seriously considered getting one, people in the last thread also started talking about it and other "compact" with-numpad boards like the Leopold FC980M.
And so: Is the MasterKeys Pro M a good buy? This would be my first time buying from this brand.
>mechanical keyboard general
>OP image is a rubber dome
>starting this shit up again
Topre is considered "honorable" mechanical keyboards years ago already. Can't we get over this shit already? What a boring topic.
I spilled some sody pop on my HHKB many years ago and even though I tore it all the way down and cleaned everything out the left shift still feels a bit... off? do I need to oil it or something? Not sure what's causing it. haven't used the keyboard in a few years
I have just bought the KBDfans Dolch PBT keycaps 145pcs for $55, how did I do? And how is it's quality and thickness compared to GMK DSA Dolch keycaps?
best thing about how HHKB2 Pro is how the keys feels. They're absolutely perfect.
The profile and the plastic itself is just amazing. It's like sex for your fingertips. It's always textured and does't get smooth. The keys themselves don't have any raised edges like lastered legend keys do so it's all just perfect to the touch.
I got it last week and I just keep my fingers on it since it feels so damn good.
10/10 keyboard all around. would buy again.
What keyboard were you using all this time?
>OP image is a rubber dome
>/mkg/ - Rubberdome edition
I think the word you're looking for is honorary.
if its squeaky try lube on stabilizers.
Which keyset looks better?
>not buying chink topre clones to save yourself $200
>pretending your keyboard matters
Nigga I have a MagicForce68 and a Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum with the best mech keys on the planet (Romer-G) and I still think my MacBook Pro keyboard is the most comfortable typing experience you can get
>wasting money on chikshit
that shit's garbage user. if you get bored with it tomorrow, you can't even resell it since it's shit.
only buy brand names and high-end shit.
I would if they felt like topre, but they don't.
Anyone wanna sell me their NavaTouch?
It's normal for the left control key on a realforce to be wobbly right?
This is all memeshit.
After my Das Keyboard II (cherry mix blue), I’m back to my iMac stock keyboard, shits good!
linku
too bad it's pink.
Are you gay?
no.
also, have no need for wasd/arrow keys either. it's a waste to pay $16 if the only thing that kinda interests me is the spacebar.
top
Is the Tada68 a meme?
It looks so nice...
They definitely do get smooth. My pro 1 from 2003 is very shiny
Is the bottom one maxkey dolch? Remove the red accents and it's better.
It's /our keyboard/.
>2003
They're not PBT.
could do without the leds though
/mkg/ Topre farts edition.
First for Reganomics.
Bottom
Nova touch boards were never good, people always said they felt like shit until they got discontinued and fancy aluminum cases came out for them.
Spotted the edgy teenager.
I've been thinking about getting the WASD Code 87 keyboard. I've hard good things about their keyboards, but have also heard people say how wasd keycaps are crap. How true is this?
Top looks like fucking puke. The white and beige do not go well with dark grey - if the modifiers were light grey or darker beige, it would work as a retro scheme. Right now it just looks out of place and horrible
>Nova touch boards were never good, people always said they felt like shit
these people you speak of... who are they? kek
I love mine. I'd like to buy the second one so I can use it at work.
> until they got discontinued and fancy aluminum cases came out for them.
there's no need for Al cases. cases they come in are nice and the steel plate is heavy.
after trying so many keyboards, I still come back to it.
>second day of using mixed switches
>already want to order more
welp, looks like I'm converting my first mechanical keyboard in some kind of frankenstein that'll look like a switch-tester bracket. Thinking about getting clears for the 2nd row and a hand full of meme switches for the far right column.
>I am really happy with my $150 purchase, I have never touched another topre board in my life but trust me this one is great.
Before the novatouch got discontinued there were more people buying them to put the sliders in their hhkb than to actually use the board.
I have an HHKB2. I miss arrow keys and the layout is shit.
Anyway, you sound like an idiot who's never even tried good boards. You just speak of 'other people'.
Are the kailh golds decent quality? I'm intrigued but wary, still chink shit and all.
so I ordered this with colemak layout and monochrome modifiers
I wish I could justify getting the aluminum case for it, but it's more expensive than what I paid for the actual keyboard.
What's the cheapest board with clears I can get, up to a TKL? Already own all of the 3 lighter switches, but I can't find any of the medium weight ones apart from blacks, and I'd like to try out clears considering Gateron browns are one of my favorites. Don't really care about the size, as long as it isn't full-size.
They feel more solid than the gaterons, less wobble, the click isn't as high pitched
That said the kailhs are new, the gaterons are a year old
>I miss arrow keys and the layout is shit.
Why did you buy it then ? The Layout is one of the best things about it.
The 1800 layout has ruined small keyboards for me, I used to love 60 and 65% boards but now when I use one I just keep missing my numpad and the extra keys above it. The only thing better about the 60/65 is having the esc key on the numrow making it easy to reach without having to shift my whole hand.
Just so you know, you won't get it until 2019, there's a good chance Massdrop will cancel your order and they also might accidentally ship your caps to someone else and only offer you a refund
EU?
that's fine. they're keycaps, not oxygen
Alright, your choice. I just wouldn't support a company with a track record that bad since they're only keycaps.
Just ordered this set of IKBC (and Vortex?) double-shot PBT for my RGB meme board for $10 off Taobao/Tmall, while they seem to be around $30 everywhere else. Am I going to get chinked?
>That Scitex version
God damn. Does this layout exist anymore? Leopold FC980 is pretty close but their switch selection is kinda minimal.
The 980M is a better deal.
>Is the MasterKeys Pro M a good buy?
Depends on what you're caring the most about: that keyboard comes with shit keycaps and cherry mx switches, but admittedly has a great form factor and layout.
The Leopold FC980M has better keycaps, and an arguably better layout, that manages to retain some more keys, especially the arrows, with only an extremely minimal increase in size.
They both come with a limited selection of cherry mx switches, that for some might be a deal breaker, although it is also true that you either build your own keyboard at unearthly costs, or come down to heavy compromises in terms of layout and/or build quality in the case of a pre-built one, if you want non-mainstream switches mechanical keyboard in general.
>premium ABS
Every time
I love this thought process so much
>knew that these keycap usually sets cost $30
>still decided to buy cheap ones
>from unofficial Chinese sources
>because he's fucking cheap
>still give himself the victim complex, "Oh no somebody save me from these chinks who are scamming me into spending less money"
Yep, UK
I have no idea where you got 90% of the stuff you're implying, but regardless.
The older set cost about $30 on Massdrop, and you can probably attribute some of that to shipping. Also wouldn't call it "unofficial Chinese sources". Tmall is more strict than Taobao, the seller is well reviewed and it has a shit ton of reviews with pictures. Worst case scenario I paid $20 for shit caps, so who cares. Just thought it was funny to see this stuff so widely available in China for so cheap.
Dude, I'm not gonna argue with you about a difference of twen-fucking-ty dollars.
I'm just gonna sit here and laugh at you, is all.
Have fun?
>Asks if going to get chinked
>Someone says yes
>Spergs out
>he doesnt have a detached numpad so he can have it on the left where it belongs
there is literally nothing wrong with ABS
>there is literally nothing wrong with abs
How do i fix the spacebar being louder than the rest of the keys? it sounds like shit
lube the stabs
what are the stabs?
...
oh i've seen those things when i take the spacebar off. i dont understand how they work
they stabilize the very large key when it's pressed down
you usually don't put equal pressure when you're pressing down a large key so of course something to help that would make the key press easier
so just put lube on these things??
You lube up the sides and the housing, not the actual stem, dumbass.
I want to build a keyboard but can't decide on a switch should I buy a switch tester?
Absolutely, especially since you're gonna spend a good amount of money to build one.
nah all switches feel the same. Just buy the color you like the best.
Spring'n'rubber
Why would you pay 200 bucks and wait 10 months to get this crap when maxkey ashen/portland is exactly the same thing, costs half and is already avalible?
Ganns 87 at aliexpress, 90 bucks or so. Its bretty gud also.
>lube everywhere around the stem
what the fuck is the difference? I dont want to desolder them and shit
That's a very cute wallpaper or whatever image it is.
Those are stabilizers, not switches. You don't have to desolder anything. Also it makes a huge difference
top board, bottom keys
so what the fuck do i put the lube on without lubing the actual stem part???
You have won a wallpaper!
You can't be that retarded user?
pour melted butter on your spacebar and then it will be lubed
Oh, thank you. Here is one from me in turn.
Another user here. You can find plenty of information just by searching from the web. Deskthority, geekhack and reddit's mechanical sections are filled with information.
you're right, coming to a thread specifically for mechanical keyboards is definitely not the right spot to ask.
Oh please, use your fucking brain dumb ass. If you can't figure out how a stabilizer works by looking at it, then you have no hope. Stick to reddit if you don't want to be bullied for acting like a retard.
why are you getting so worked up user? im just trying to figure out how to make my spacebar a little more silent thats all.
There is plenty wrong with ABS, it's a pile of shit in front of PBT
He's right, you are retarded.
I have no practical need for a keyboard, but I have some money to spare. What keyboard will give me a sense of fullfilment as a mindless consumer? Preferably girly, I don't like overtly masculine tech.
get this
how am i retarded when someone on here told me not to lube the stem but everything around it? wont the stem inevitably be lubed at that point?
Is that even mechanical? Looks a bit tame.
