Whenever I update a tracker, I get a bunch of new peers and my upload shoots up.
For some of the newer torrents, ill tab in and force a tracker update every 5mins or so while browsing the internet to maintain a good upload speed.

So, I'm going through and cross seeding torrents and a few of them have given me a popup in my client that says "Torrent is already in download list. Trackers weren't merged because it is a private torrent."
Looking around, apparently it's due to the .torrent having the same hash IDs. According to reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/2wx14a/torrent_from_two_different_private_trackers_with/ the solution is to run 2 clients and run the .torrent files for each tracker separately. Is this correct? I mean, if 312c says it's allowed, then it should be fine, right?

wtf? Just add the torrent from site a and direct it to the location. Now add the torrent from site b, direct it to the same location, but don't start download. Force recheck and the resume the torrent

Yes you are right. With private torrents you can never have a torrent with two different trackers on it(unless they both belong to the same site). Otherwise you will get banned on both of them since it looks like cheating.
If the files have unique infohash it's no problem, you can just add the .torrents and your client will show them seperately. Sometimes the uploader is stupid/lazy and uses the same piece size and doesn't add a comment during creating the .torrent file so that doesn't work. Then you have to run two different clients to crosseed.
No worries about getting banned that way.
This only works if the torrents have different infohash. Meaning different piece size or something in the comment field. If the .torrent files are identical your client can't have two of them seperately.

Don't know. The likely scenario is this VIP user's auto-upload script resulted in a number of bum uploads. Other scenarios exist: he might have got warned in the past and probably exhausted his last warning; he told off a staff member who gave him that warning; he fished for a PTP invite; or, they found out he was an invite trader. Like I said, who knows?
Anyways, he had more than 4x the number uploads than the closet top uploader (31k vs. 7k). In the end, what a way to lose thousands of uploads (I doubt many of them had multiple seeders).
