Tab hoarding

How much of a tab hoarder are you and how many tabs do you have open right now?

How are you still running Windows XP in 2017?

I have 3 tabs open because I use the bookmarks feature as it was intended to be used. If I'm looking up documentation for something I may have a few more tabs open but I always close tabs I'm not actively using.

>not getting free updates till 2019

I'm pretty sure that's Windows 10.

96 on my desktop, 116 on my laptop, and 104 on another laptop, and well over 100 on my phone (don't know the exact number, cause it stops counting after 99).

you fell for the bait

tab-let here
How do you manage to accumulate multiple tabs and what do they mostly consist of?

look at your browsing history, now imagine each entry at its own tab. there you go, now you know how idiots with 300 tabs open work

I try to keep it slim. Maybe it tops 20 before I start closing them. I don't believe those people claiming they need anything north of 50+ tabs; just pretend work

I have 6 tabs open right now, 5 on one monitor and my lecture running on my other monitor.

1266 tabs. I need to close a few, dates back to 2015 or so.

My problem is I tend to get sidetracked a lot. I'll have maybe 20 tabs related to one topic that I'm researching. Then I'll come across another interesting topic, and have a few more tabs open for that. Of course I'll get sidetracked a few more times, and before you know there's 100 tabs relating to various topics, plus a few Sup Forums threads I'm monitoring. Every once in a while I'll do a purge, and bookmark anything I won't be dealing with anytime soon.

It also totals 92gb of ram usage

I'm an old guy who was alive in the ram depression and rarely have more than 2 open

>how many tabs do you have open right now?

Four, counting this one that will be closed once this reply is submitted.

3 currently.
My maximum is 15. After that, I start closing.

Considering how JS heavy and bloated the web is today, you'd have to be a fool to keep so many open connections going on. I don't even want to think about what kind of disgusting botnet shit is crawling through some anons browser who has 100+ tabs open for days on end.

If I know I have a group of tabs that I want to revisit, then I do this thing called BOOKMARKING.

>bookmarking
But I find that for more long term. what else should I use?

I blame opera for popularising tabbed browsing.

I consistently have anywhere from 200-400 tabs open. A lot of them are things I started and never finished or things I saved for later, so I do clean them up every now and then,

I have 1 tab open atm.
I never go above 10, and going over 5 is rare.
I like to browse only incognito or delete all cookies and internet search history after each browsing session.

You've got to be fucking retarded to use over 5 tabs at the same time.
Not even normies are THAT retarded

I have about 50 open atm, tree tabs ftw

Typically have 50+ tabs
100+ if I'm looking for an issue

I used to have over 1300 tabs up at one point. Now I keep around 400 up, less or more depending on if I'm also working on a project.

I do this, but every once in a while or before I log into something important, I'll run CCleaner and get rid of all my cookies, cache, history, etc. It's like an OCD thing I have where it feels like washing my computer's hands. So I either lose the tabs or learn to read faster.

4 tabs.

only 22
i only have 4gb ram

so basically youre just a retard who never closes tabs and makes it harder on themselves because now each tab is too small for you to actually know what it is

Pretty much. Someone needs to make tree style history or something so these retards can start using their browser correctly.

I use 10 at most.

i use more than few only when i want to "bookmark all open pages"

Got 1372 tabs open some from early 2016. Currently using 23GB of RAM out of 32GB available, wasted RAM etc...

>My problem is I tend to get sidetracked a lot. I'll have maybe 20 tabs related to one topic that I'm researching. Basically me... I've used to bookmark stuff but I just found it easier and quicker to leave shit open, also many of the pages/websites I have open have probably been edited/404'd by now which bookmarking doesn't help that and I think this is my biggest reason for tab hoarding.

>what happens if you lose power and lose it all
Nothing because dual UPS.
>what happens if the whole browser crashes
I have a 1TB SSD setup for live cache, think of it as my own archive.is in a way, I can recover the page as it is at the time my tabbed loaded it.
> ?
I don't have web sockets enabled, webgl disabled, ublock origin, webrtc disabled, no flash or java, decentraleyes, https everywhere, cookies disabled.
?
I use my own tree tabs style extension, edited some things about it and does me great.
>Do you ever close tabs?
Of course I do, daily once I'm done with them, the problem is for every tab I close I've already opened another 3 hence the number of opened tabs rises.
>holy shit kys u autist
No.

So how did you manage to go from 1300+ to 400?

Text document with links to web pages.

I get antsy when it starts compressing tabs down to a scroll button. Old habits of a low number of tabs from when I had a potato pc.

5 including this one, 10-20 around the end of the day

1286 tabs open according to session manager
firefox is using 3.6 GB of memory

Only 3.6GB? Bullshit.

How much RAM do you have?

What if you accidentally close the browser?

This.
How can people be so fucking retarded and have a shitload of tabs open when it may cause instability and memory problems? Do they all have short attention spans?
I'm willing to bet the people that always bitch about their browser crashing all the time are actually those same tab hoarding morons.

It's not possible since I disabled the close button, it's blanked out for me and not clickable.

One tab open at the moment. When I feel that I have too many open I go through the tabs, close the ones I don't need anymore and then use the "bookmark all tabs" feature to bookmark the rest into a folder

One on my desktop, 0 on my laptop. I close tabs that I'm not using, and close the web browser when not in use.

I used to average 2500 tabs per session when I used Firecucks and Palememe, after switching to Chromium + tabs outliner and streamlining image saving now I only average 300 tabs per session. All I'm asking is for a browser that can handle tons of tabs without shitting itself.

no, I have other mental issues but tab hoarding is not one of them. I have 3 tabs open right now

right now only around 30
but it goes up to a 1k easily

Like 10 or something. I figured out what bookmarks and rss are.

tabs load on demand. tab wasn't clicked, it doesn't use any memory other than the entry in the tab list. computers can easily handle 1200 entries in a binary tree.

I have 5 different windows of chrome open on my work laptop which have multiple tabs on each

Each window of chrome is related to something different and the tabs are related to the window (mainly work related , client based stuff)

And then my external monitor has its own tab with email and CRM based stuff

...

are you retarded

>i like to wait for things to load

I am on like 8-12 tabs across 4 separate windows and 2 browsers.

20-30 when doing heavy projects or intense browsing. Maybe a 5th window if I'm feeling cocky.

This is LARP

Never more than 20

I have threads from june that I still keep for future reading

they're in another window at least

Nope, I'm curious to why you think it is.

>tfw tab hoarder with just 16GB of RAM and no UPS

JUST!

I typically don't have more than 50, but I also usually have no less than 50 as well.

You could do what this user does but the down side of it is the page refreshes on tab hover meaning you potentially risk an edited/different version of the page you wanted to view at the time or it just may be deleted, hence why I don't use the tab suspend feature and why my RAM usage is so high at 23GB, then again Firefox isn't perfect.

>but the down side of it is the page refreshes on tab hover meaning you potentially risk an edited/different version of the page you wanted to view at the time or it just may be deleted

Yes, that's why I keep hundreds of Sup Forums threads I'm interested in open. Archives go down all the time or sometimes don't even archive it all (except 4plebs).

Agreed with what you said, especially chan archives aren't reliable, heck even 4tan archive has been having alot of down time recently for example.
Glad I kept those threads open in tabs!

I avoid getting past 400.
I once fucked up and lost my tabs. It hurt, man. Then, one year later, I didn't RTFM before trying out something and deleted my browsing store from ~3 years.

I have four browsers installed with anything between over 10 and over 20 tabs open in each.

One thing I've tried to do is just save them as html files, but then I end not doing it very often as I want to finish reading the thread first.

Sorry to hear, what have you done to prevent you from losing tabs again?

I use ChanThreadWatch-1_15, give it a test and see if you like it. Turn on same original file names in settings.

Nice, I'll give it a try. I have Firefox sessions dating from all the way to 2008, I fear coming back to them and discover how many sites are dead, I should have saved them.

>Nothing because dual UPS.

Howe can I into dual UPS?

I have currently one open tab.

just put two of these in your basement bro
vertivco.com/en-us/products-catalog/critical-power/uninterruptible-power-supplies-ups/liebert-trinergy-cube-ups-150-kw-3.4-mw/

I never have more than 5 tabs open because bookmarks exist and most pages I visit are dynamic anyway so they are going to be refreshed as soon as I shift attention to it anyway.

addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/

The less I can is better

I have 6 GB of RAM and I always open a fuckton of tabs on a private window. I keep opening tabs until eventually the browser crashes. Then I have a clean slate.

Not at all.
Four.

I'm not sure how many tabs i have open on my phone but it takes NB ~90 seconds to load after it gets closed. Mostly because i'll open a bunch of interesting pornography and not get a chance to view it all and leave then continue the cycle of opening a bunch of stuff and never addressing it. I'm thinking about taking a week off and just bingeing all of my neglected porn till my genitals stop functioning so i can finally load my fucking browser in a timely manner

speaking of tabs how the fuck do you get tabs under the address bar in firefox 57?

its unusable with tabs on top

10k was my max, I have about 300 right now though.

I clear out tabs when i have to start scrolling through them to get to my music.

use waterfox

Most I've ever opened at once was 23 tabs on my phone. I catch up on news from 3-4 sites while I'm at work. I browse the front page of the sites and open up any story I find interesting in a new tab. Soon as I'm done reading it, I close the tab.

I don't know how people can have literally hundreds of tabs. I get anxious just thinking about it

just made a userChrome.css file in ~/.mozilla/firefox/{username]/chrome/userChrome.css

and put in

#TabsToolbar { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 2;
}

#nav-bar{ border-top-width: 0px !important;
}

I can talk from experience that by the end of the week you'll have about twice as many tabs open.

12. About 25 tabs is my limit, opening more than that triggers my autism.

I don't bother closing tabs, I just wait until my browser starts lagging and restart it.

It's gotten a lot better in recent years.
I used to have something like 50-60 open.
Nowadays I only have maybe 2 plus the ones I'm currently using (i.e. ~10 Sup Forums threads)

Tab hoarding is a clear indicator of autism.

No, it's an indication of a normie Chad. Only autism cares about how many tabs they have or their ram usage.
Real men don't care

Bro, I need to have access to every porn image I'm looking up on /d/.

I can't be scrolling through the thread for the right image when I'm mid fap. I need quick access and then I need to keep it up for later when I jerk it again but I won't save it on my harddrive because that would be like leaving the murder weapon right at the police station.

...

Autism Inc.

Real men don't hoard random bullshit because they think they might use it a year down the road. They consume the information and move on with their lives. Tab hoarders have the same problems as actual hoarders.

>year down the road
No nigger, real men don't close the tab because who gives a fuck. Eventually the pc will force an update and close them anyway.
Only autism manages tabs, Chads don't waste their time with it

I have only one. I don't have data caps so I don't really have the need to keep the websites loaded.

>manages tabs
Yeah
>read shit
>close tab
That's a lot of effort right there. But keep telling yourself you're a "Chad" for literal hoarding behavior.
