Mouse Thread

Already posted this in /sqt/, but it's not the fitting thread.
Discuss mice. I've used pic related for a couple years now and am looking for a similar alternative.
Should have:
>similar ergonomic design
>somewhere around 6000 DPI
>not be from Razer
Any suggestions or Sup Forums approved mouse?

logitech g402

read about some sensors and decide which mice fits you needs. i bought a mionix castor and a logitech g402: while mionix fits my hand perfectly the sensor is pure dogshit when you directly compare is to logitech's. BUT logitechs mice doesnt fit my hand/grip style so i kept the mionix for everything, only light gayman with this mice

Reading up on the g402.
Sadly only 2/3 the DPI I'm used to, but that should be fine.
Is the middle mouse button as hard to click as the reviews claim? I use that one a lot.

just use one of the side keys as middle mouse button.

After 2 years my mouse wheel died. It was an Zowie FK2, recommend me a good Mouse.

I'm already used to 2 side buttons, would have to put it on the 3rd one. And that's kinda weird when you have a mousewheel.
Will definitely check alternatives.

I hate my Steelseries Rival so damn much. Got dirty quick, the rubber on it came off quick as well and now it does this funny thing where scrolling wheel clicks register twice or thrice accidentally so I can't close browser tabs that way or I risk closing more, and shit like that.

I have a MX518 somewhere but the case is all fucked up and the mouse wheel is not in good condition either. I don't know if I should just fix that, because it seems to still work just fucking fine otherwise.

>tfw there is only one mouse I know that has separate scroll wheel and middle button but it's in murrica and shipping overseas is not worth it

Also, G400 is great, but not available anymore so you might consider G402 as some user suggested.

rival 300

Went with g403 after I sold my g502.
It's no mx518 or g400 when it comes to haptics but still way better than g402/502 imo

The g403 looks better than the g402. Why would I take the 403? Better sensor, more buttons?

g502 for shortcuts
MX Master if you don't like gaymer aesthetics and/or want wireless, thought you lose some buttons.

I'm actually considering this one at the moment
I just hope there aren't any buttons you can accidentally click, like the one near the scroll wheel, LMB or thumb

I need a g400 upgrade, the scroll wheel rubber is melting.

i just got the g502, upgrading from a G400. Pretty pleased so far, only thing is that the software does not support linux. So you need to boot in windows or passthrough the mouse to a windows vm to setup the shortcuts.

After almost two years of use, I have clicked my "previous song" button, but really uncommon, the only other that is more really common to click is the wheel to the left or right, and if you have the wheel on "free scroll", it will move a little.

Try storing the macros to the mouse itself. There are two options, to store that on the PC or to the mouse, so you unplug it and go to another PC and you still have your macros. A friend uses his laptop with linux and it works fine.

It has a lot of edges for a mouse, do any of those cause dirt to accumulate in them or is it hard to clean?
Does the matte plastic or rubber turn shiny from wear?

MX518 is god tier

Nah, just some under my copy paste.
The only thing that I have noticed that turns "old" or whatever, is the wheel, but just because there is a lot of humity where I live because I live in an Island, it has some oxide, but it can be cleaned, I just haven't tried it because it doesn't bother me.

Alright thanks user

I have a death adder elite. Memes aside it has always been the most comfy for my large hands.

i got this cooler master mm530 at PAX for $430

$30*

I am having a problem where my left mouse button is becoming unreliable and register a click as non-click. if i hold down the button then it just triggers hold and unhold erratically. also it will sometimes see a click as a double click. it is super annoying. how do i fix?

>tfw moving from a perfectly functional G700 to a G403

I hope I didn't get memed. The G700 fits perfectly in my hand and has the perfect amount of keys, but the sensor is dog shit.

Is it worth buying Zowie Mico in ebay? Or there are still some small mouse?

solder in a new button. they wear out. faster than old mice it seems like to me

Get the g900. Feels great. Looks great. Kinda pricey but I'm happy with it.

OP here, not the guy asking about doubleclick
My problem with razer mice is that the plastic that is pushing on the switch is made form a softer material than the switch contact.
After a year or two, this causes the softer plastic to form a notch or hole at the place it touches the switch contact.
With the hole, this causes the switch to malfunction or not trigger at all. The only way I was able to fix it is by filing the rest of the soft plastic down so that it creates a flat surface again. This makes it so the switch triggers at a lower height, but at least it works like new again.

On that note, Razer's promise that the switches last for 5 million clicks or whatever doesn't mean shit if the plastic that presses the switch erodes down far before that.
Rayer Mamba 2012

I had razor before the logi g900. It was crap

I have had this issue with multiple mice from multiple brands.

The plastic part that pushes on the switch gets caved in.

My solution has been to duct tape some folded paper onto the caved in area so the piece pushes against the switch well again. It takes a bit of finetuning to adjust the thickness for it to work but after that it works fine.

But then my mouse becomes a ravaged PoS.

It's a pretty sad state of affair honestly. Given that to open the mouse up i generally have to rip up the slip pad and sticker, unscrew to access the screws leaving the mouse in an ugly state.

I had 2 of those razer mice in the pic, both died in under a year.

I've had this mouse for like ~2 years now, scroll wheel will scroll up when I scroll down too fast now ;_;

I might try the paper in the future
Previously I tried to fill the dent with hotglue, but it never worked. Every time I assembled it back, it wouldn't click anymore. And I think hotglue is so soft that it will break back down faster than the plastic.

What mice do Pajeets use?

I'm using this, no complaints
fits my palm perfectly, very comfy
highly recommend
only fags use logishit

this little fella
got it for free years ago and it continues to work nicely (and i have a tendency to break rodents)

Best plastic substitute is bread soda and superglue. I filled up mouse button holes on a deathadder with it, really strong.

What's the consensus on the new Rival 310? Currently have a Mionix Naos and while I love the shape for comfy, I'm playing shooters again and I find it bad for that.

thanks might try some time

I had a meme Corsair M65 for only a few months before the mouse wheel broke. I was approved for an RMA but don't feel like dealing with that happening again. Lots of reviews saying it has a faulty mouse wheel. What should I move onto? Palm grip/fingertip grip.

for me its the zowie by benq ec2-a

Considering this. How are the forward and back buttons? I often use the forward button as PTT but I've had mice in the past that had their forward buttons eventually wear out.

Every mouse I buy breaks after 2 years either due to the sensor (R.A.T - admittedly a piece of shit, but still) or the buttons (R.A.T - I sent it back after the buttons broke, got a new one and eventually the sensor broke.)

I thought I was free of the trash, but then right on schedule, after having it for 2 years, my CM Storm Reaper starts having issues with the omron switches double clicking.

The conclusion I've reached is that gaming mice/omron switches are a meme.

Meanwhile my 8 year old HP bundled mouse is still working fine.

Basically, I'm sick of buying new shit every 2 years.

Is the Mx master good? Shill me a mouse Sup Forums

the m570 is the best mouse ever created, doesnt give you rsi or carpal tunnel

this is a sexy looking mouse, what kind of mouse is this? i kinda want one

Razer Mamba 2012 edition

The current year's edition looks like this and has multi-color LEDs on the sides too, which are programmable like all the other lights.
But the razer mice all break easily and are expensive as fuck. The new ones also require you to register with your email in their drivers so they can save your mouse settings and statistics in the cloud. If you turn the driver off, the mouse reverts to default settings.

Went with this after my g502 died on me. I wanted to try something different and I'm glad I went with this one. It feels great to use, the sensor is good and the buttons make one handed browsing a nice experience. Wouldn't say it's better than the 502, probably on par, but it's nice all the same.

That really annoys me, I used shitty office mice for years cos I couldn't afford a gaming mouse and men like you throw them away without repairing them or offering them for sale. there are no faulty mice on ebay ffs.

I have a R.A.T 7 which to me is comfy as fuck but the sensor is shit and keeps tracking exclusively either vertically or horizontally.

I play only FPS so don't give a shit about macros or anything. I just want the most accurate mouse on the market, I only use 800dpi too so I don't even care about changing sensitivity on the fly either. Preferably one that is fairly wide. What would Sup Forums recommend?

steelseries rival 300

what's the best palm grip mouse? coming from a logitech g500, and i can find no worthy successors since the shape was retired after the g500s

literally anymore can be used for palm monica

do you speak english?

Holy shit are you me ??!!!

mx518 looks alright, but so does the rival 300

i dont want much fancy anything, mostly longevity and simplicity with at least two extra buttons. the similarities between them all lead me to trepidation, having bought a CM storm spawn the last two times I needed a mouse and now wanting something a little larger

Mionix castor, nixeus revel, zowie (any), SS 300/310, or wait to see how the new Ninox Venator build oct 9th?

depends on what you do 2bh

browse, third person games, first person games, excel, everything

what would make any specific one better at a particular task? I'm torn between an EC1-A because of simplicity and quality, a mionix castor because it looks amazing but might be small I guess, and waiting to see if the new Ninox build turns out well. Any input on the current state of Zowie / BenQ? Because my other options seem either abandoned or will be.

they have refreshes for the rival mice, Im not sure what they are called though

I like my intellimouse 3.0 a lot, but am open to moving on to something with better-supported side buttons and a similar feel. If you also like it, got any suggestions for similar-feel mice?

my g602 just died. 6 months on eneloop pros., average use of 6+ hrs a day.

All mice fail after a while, and for whatever reason gaming mice generally seem to have way more complaints in this department than cheap mice do. Maybe it is because of the materials, maybe it is because they are just abused more,

Personally IMO there are only really a few rules:

1. Pick a shape that you like.
2. If you NEED a certain sensor quality (either high DPI, or high IPS), then pick a mouse that fits that spec. If you don't need it, don't fucking worry about it.
3. Pick a mouse that doesn't have any major sensor glitches or inconsistent tracking. This is rarely an issue now, but historically there are a few notable examples like the Razer Lachesis and Steelseries Kinzu V1.
4. Pick a weight that you like.
5. Pick the cheapest mouse that fits all of the above criteria, in that order of importance.

Features like additional buttons/etc are of extremely low importance, because these are things that are extremely easy to adjust to or workaround, compared to the difficulty in finding a mouse that meets all the other criteria.

I think the biggest mistake people make is that they find a mouse they really like, but then refuse to buy another one because it breaks. If you are happy with your mouse and it breaks, just buy another one. Even if it breaks again in another year or two, you will be happier overall than if you keep getting random shit. Personally, I went through around 4 years where I was buying a new mouse every 4-6 months because I wasn't really comfortable with what I had for one reason or another, which in retrospect was kind of stupid, but it did help me understand what is actually important and what isn't.

I didn't feel comfortable enough in trying to fix it myself so I ended up putting it on ebay for like 5quid. Didn't really want my hamfisted arse trying and failing to fix it so hopefully someone else with better skills can do something with it.

If you don't have g900 you have wasted your money

So, coming from the CM Storm Spawn, how does the MasterMouse MM520 compare?
My Spawn's been serving me well for the past few years, have had to repair the middle mouse button twice now, but otherwise great.
I'm not a huge gamer, but the ergonomics of the Spawn sold me, which is why I'm interested in the MM520. That and the PBT parts on it.

Does it seem like a good upgrade from the Spawn? Worth it for $50?

Since it matters to some, it'd be going from a 3090 sensor to a 3360 sensor.

Thank you for telling me about the MM520. My Xornet broke a long time ago and I've been really wanting that shape.

>prometheus weapon systems unlocked
>lazerz activated
why do people fall for spaceship mice again?

>not be from Razer
>Posts glorious Razer mouse.

I received a Deathadder Elite as a warranty replacement for my previous Deathadder, I absolutely love it.

I didn't notice it being harder than middle click on other mice.
And this mouse is so goddamn ergonomic. Love it.

just ordered a logitech g203 for about 30 euros
did i fuck up?

deathadders have shit build quality

huehuehue

HUE

how do i delete this safely? i have autism so i need my pc clean.

Use teh power of your autisms to your advantage: reinstall from scratch.

but i did and this is the leftover.

Bought a Rivaal 310, but still waiting for the Pajeets at Amazon to dispatch it. Nearly a week later at this point.

right click on the drive the folder is located in
>properties
>disk cleanup
Then you check the item that says Previous Windows Installation.

Bought this, hated it with a special kind of fury for the first 3 months, got used to it.

because it actually good.

I need a replacement for my G402, since I'm taking it with me for CAD drawing and I need something good on my desktop
Will the G502 be too heavy?
Is the G403 better than both?
Pls help

Why didn't you format the drive before installation?

jesus christ i had the same thing happen to my mamba

at first i used super glue to fill the notch, but after a while ended up ordering a new top cover from ebay for like $10

i thought it happened because i pressed too hard sometimes, but i guess it's just planned obsolescence

I read your picture and then specifically didn't read your post

I really like the designs of their new mice and I also like the feel of them. I've got a Rival 300 as a back-up mouse but not too fond of the gloss on the body of it.

bestbuy.com/site/logitech-g502-proteus-spectrum-optical-gaming-mouse-black/4803300.p?skuId=4803300

FK2 is a good mouse, mine is older and works like new.

I found this to be a great resource for mice reviews:
rocketjumpninja.com/mouse-reviews/

I got one to replace my Spawn. Switches were quite a bit louder, I opened it up to reduce them. The extra length is unnecessary but not enough to be a detriment for me.
I'm enjoying it but I wouldn't have replaced my Spawn if it wasn't in pretty bad shape.

I mean Razer mice are initially good and often have some good design for a 'gaming mouse', but their new always-online no opt-out driver is a pretty shit move. They also break really fast and are overpriced.
Good mice, but I don't want to deal with all the other things anymore.

>i guess it's just planned obsolescence
Yeah I'm pretty sure that it is
>ordering a new top cover from ebay for like $10
Damn, why didn't I think of this

I've using a Roccat Kone XTD for about 2 years now, it's working fine for now but I'm feeling the urge to look into something better.

Is there some decent Sup Forums approved reads I can look into? I'd like to do a bit of research into DPI and other components to see what makes a mouse good. Computer mice aren't my forte.

>mionix naos 7000 finally dies
>read good reviews about the new steelseries mice
>had issues with them in the past
>go against better judgement and order rival 310
>buttons rattle like shit
>order a replacement
>button rattles are even worse on the replacement

Fuck steelseries, what a joke of a company. Thinking about getting the G403 or G Pro.

Any other 3360~ mice worth looking at?

G900... when you want the best mouse ever made. It's absolutely perfect in every way.

Cooler master MM520/530

I've had the Logitech G240 mousepad for almost 2 years now and this flap is starting to really get in the way.

Suggestions for large mousepads that are good for high DPI movement? Lately I've been really into quake and I think it would be nice to change to a hard aluminum mousepad.

>tfw the g402 is getting hard to find
JUST

Had 3 non chroma ones as well,
done with this shit company desu, do i cop a steelseries raw or one of the zowie deathadder clones
