Do PSUs degrade over time?

Do PSUs degrade over time?
I used this psu (Chieftec 650W) for 6 years without problems on my last setup(phenom ii x4 965 + ATI 6870).
Now i switched to i5 7600k + 1060. i am having random restart issues and dont know if its psu or something else.

anyone could give me their piece of mind, please?

You did this to yourself dumb shill.

Go get sell that intel shit and get ryzen. Might as well get vega

Electrolytic capacitors eventually degrade, so its not impossible, especially since Chieftec isn't really renowned as a paragon of quality. But the days of capacitor plague are long gone, and six years isn't ALL that old for a PSU. and plenty of things cause instability.

Still I would try to get your hands on a new PSU and see if that fixes the problem.

change psu, I had same problem before: first psu burned, changed to very similar psu, with the time start random reboot, exhaustive memory tests running all night and nothing, even reinstalled OS again, but finally have to spend more money to get a better quality psu (cougar) than stock case, now run smoothly

Everything decays, even protons.

I still use my Corsair TX650 I bought in 2008.

... and all that needed replacing were two fans I might add. Two fans crapped out it ran so much.

I used a corsair hx520w (one of the best psus) for 6 years, and by the end I had to replace it as I got random restarts, despite it being strong enough to handle the load.

Are you asking if electronic components degrade over time? Really stop and think about that for a minute.

I am asking if my 650W PSU after 6 years "lost" specs and is now 500W or lower and can no longer support my system which is why it restarts itself from time to time when load gets high.

>chieftec
Throw that shit in the bin right now and buy a PSU from a real manufacturer.

>real manufacturer
any names?

try open case for better isues. psu some thimes dont work well on hot air.

specially on top psu cases.(that happen to me just open the case and all work)

EVGA Supernova or a Corsair RMx, for instance.

How much does AMD pay you kid?

Seasonic, Super Flower, Enermax

EVGA are just rebranded Seasonic.
Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic and Channel Well

>EVGA are just rebranded Seasonic.
>Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic and Channel Well
And they're very high quality units either way.

Now I know for a fact that surges, brownouts and other electrical bullshittery can damage your PSU over time which in turn ends up damaging your hardware, which can be prevented by using an online UPS, but that online UPS may also degrade over time, though I'm not too certain about that, I am sure another Sup Forumsentooman can help

Yes check the rail is still 12v-12.5 under load ? You can check that out on software or bios, if it below 12 replace it.

>surges, brownouts and other electrical bullshittery
my coolermaster case is little shit and tends to restard when plugging USB or aometimes just by shrugging against it. i had this shit happen accidentaly hundred times over.

how do i check this? only sofware i have is speccy and gpu-z. yes i am pc scrub

Is the power button fucked, or is it your motherboard? If it's the power button, you should change its behaviour in settings.

Yes, PSUs slowly degrade.
That doesn't mean the PSU is the problem here, but it could be.

seasonic

if you have doubts, read reviews on jonnyguru
combine with a PSU calculator and you can't go wrong
