So, why haven't you stopped using this literal spyware program?
Let's start with some details. >literally a copy of slack, another team software >supposedly makes money off premium version which no-one buys since it provides almost no perks >somehow has a substantial development team >WILL NOT RUN without knowing all other programs you have running >this is supposedly to show others which game you are playing >makes sure to use email >has no owner or offices listed on their website, with no real "about us" page
I can 100% guarantee these fucks are selling your private information about what programs you have running to companies who use this information to see which are most used and which aren't.
They could also sell emails and passwords from time to time as well, but not on a mass scale.
However they don't need to do this right now as investors are literally flooding it with cash without discord having any real product, revenue, or profits that they would benefit from.
I can provide sources for all the info listed above if necessary.
>has a dev team of at least 42 people, not including owner >all paid at least minimum wage >discord nitro costs 4.99 a month supposing 1000 people bought discord nitro every single month, that would only be close to 100$ per month per dev, a highly unlikely wage.
Henry Wilson
don't forget massive server costs since they won't let you host anything yourself
Jaxson Bennett
>>WILL NOT RUN without knowing all other >>this is supposedly to show others which game you are playing >>makes sure to use emailprograms you have running I just use the browser site.
Carson Clark
js
Brandon Cook
This desu you don't even need to make an account if you don't want to just open the browser and use a temp nickname. Only the downloaded client version keeps track of your games etc.
Connor Lee
Looking at the news today. If you live in the US discord is the least of your worries. You lot got all your data stolen
Parker Ramirez
Discord Nitro subscriber here. I see no problem with it.
Ian Hernandez
JS doesn't have access to those things.
Dylan Walker
>paying to get spied on Let me guess, you're a windows user too?
Grayson Smith
Me too. It's the best communication program there is.
Jonathan Thomas
...
Zachary Hall
how does it feel, not just downloading, but PAYING for spyware lol
Connor White
Awesome since it's a pretty good program. Way better than ts3 at least.
How does it feel crying on Sup Forums about a program being spyware?
Justin Rivera
Discord HQ Our office is located in Potrero Hill, a little neighborhood in SF near awesome coffee, food, and Whole Foods. Also sushi.
Parker Hughes
>HOW DO THEY MAKE MONEY?!?! >Ignored massive list of investors on the website You guys aren't even trying anymore.
Brayden Diaz
Investors don't exist unless there is a way to make a return on that investment. Otherwise they wouldn't be called "investors." They'd be called "donators."
Elijah Wright
>>I can provide sources for all the info listed above if necessary. Why don't you do it anyway, faggot!
It's not that I don't believe you but if you have info you should always provide links and not act like a massive homosexual like Julian Assange you fucking cock sucker nigger!
Jose Ross
why what happened
Isaiah Green
>money is made from investors user...
Jaxon Thomas
see
Lucas Perry
How have you not fucking heard about Equifax?
Gabriel Turner
see discordapp.com/jobs scroll down, you can see them. they all look like Hillary voters and your TV serial start up fags, So no I would never trust them with my data.
Oliver Morgan
It's the usual closed source messaging application becomes popular, slowly starts introducing anti-features. more spying etc. to make profit and appease the investors Remember Discord users, you are the product. You are the fool
Logan Edwards
y? should i have?
Landon Moore
Only if you live in the States, Canada, or the UK, and think that ALL your personal info (present and former addresses, Social Security Number, credit history, employment history, etc) being leaked would be concerning to you.
Robert Baker
How could I ever use it if I have no friends? Checkmate
Joseph Butler
it says only 150million, I live in US but never had a cc or loan before, would I be worried?
Hudson Watson
If you have no form of government ID (social security number, green card, etc) then you shouldn't be worried.
Otherwise, be concerned, because there is a 50 percent chance that all your personal info has been leaked for a month.
Caleb Ward
Do not think that you have the option to not be involved in the credit bureaus' reportings. The number of people that aren't tracked by all 3 big bureaus is well under .01%. You would literally have to be born in the woods, and spend the entirety of your life out there.
The fact that you have internet means you're affected.
Colton Gray
I have only f-1 visa, but also an American bank account
Noah Powell
It's possible you are affected, yes. If you didn't have a US/UK/Canadian bank account, you'd probably be ok.
What you should do next depends on whether you need to open new lines of credit (a new account, a credit card, a loan, a bank account, or get a new job), and decide whether it is better to put your credit on a freeze or to put yourself on Initial Fraud Alert.
>Only if you live in the States, Canada, or the UK >Only if you live >live is this correct? are international customers of businesses settled in those cunts not affected?
Aiden Campbell
Depends if you have any lines of credit or bank accounts in those areas, or have an address in any of these countries. Even the owners of apartments that you lease from can report to the credit agencies.
You guys should take your questions to the Equifax thread.
Jonathan Harris
>no one buys discord premium
Oh you naive child
Landon Scott
That's the most retarded style sheet I've ever seen
Jose Kelly
i have never used it
Luke Morgan
>was actually one of those retards who bought fagtro
Christopher Sanchez
I like nice things over privacy desu
Jack Wilson
luckily you can have both with a little effort
Jace Wood
Why choose one or the other? Wire is both.
Thomas Foster
>I can 100% guarantee these fucks are selling your private information about what programs you have running to companies who use this information to see which are most used and which aren't. So what? It's just statistical data. Or are you afraid that they'll know that you play your Sphere of Desire and Lugaru?
Jonathan Clark
What he means is "I like to have nice things and no privacy instead of nice things and privacy". Some people do anything and everything they can to get into the spotlight.
Noah Ortiz
Are you sure about that?
Nicholas Miller
I was speaking in general and discord is included in that, I'm a slave for the google botnet because it's just incredibly convenient desu
Liam Phillips
>open thread expecting some sick discord bantz >find out my life is possibly ruined It wasn't supposed to be like this.
Nathan Young
Have a (You) for the count, user
Jonathan Wright
>I'm a slave for the google botnet because it's just incredibly convenient desu Well, own your decisions, and don't come back here bitching about it when it bites you in the ass, because everything that happens to you as a result of this is exactly what you wanted.
Benjamin Ramirez
It's just a webpage, staying up mostly because of investors. It can't know my process list. Also i'm using it without email.
Owen Stewart
Don't get angry, user-kun, you spat your chewed up doritos everywhere
Jacob Reed
Why would I be angry at things I can't control?
Tyler Adams
>UWAAAAAAAAH they're killing my IRC
Nolan Rodriguez
does wire have proper private / public groups yet
James Myers
You're retarded if you can't put up an argument besides they are Hillary voters. Quite literally kill yourself you inbred cunt.
Jackson Edwards
Because life's too short to worry about shit like this
Jose Moore
Literally Sup Forums: The Botnet
David Morgan
colamaroro
Julian Harris
None of my friends will switch. I *finally* got them off fucking Skype.
Nolan Allen
>"Any moment now", said the user >"Any moment now they will ve fucked by the botnet" >"Any moment", he said while posting the same old rethoric online
Levi Kelly
Dunno if this is useful at all, but one of head guys, if not the highest, created "Guildwork" which was mainly used for FF11 and WoW, I think?
>"I've never been mugged, so muggers don't exist!"
Hunter Sullivan
They aren't concerned with turning a profit, their goal is to get as big as they can with reckless spending and hope they get bought out by a big corporation like Google/MS/Facebook before they crash and burn.
Gabriel Nguyen
>muggers exist, so everyone gets mugged!
Isaiah Martin
Everyone can be mugged, which is why you take steps to prevent it.
Robert Baker
Are you using the internet? Are you using a CPU manufactured by Intel or AMD?
Then all this information is already readily available.
Carter Anderson
>Then all this information is already readily available. To the government. Not shady chinese investors who are just looking to profit off my information.
Gavin Thomas
Can't get my lads to use anything else because they don't take my tinfoil hat seriously. I would really prefer not to use it, but in the end it doesn't really matter if some Chinese companies have a profile on my usage habits. Some botnets are inevitable if you don't want to be a electricityless hermit.
Zachary Long
-t assmad Sup Forums
Blake Lee
just install it with flatpak or snap and it won't be able to spy outside its sandbox
I hate discord so much it's the most cancerous shit ever brought to us
Nathan Jackson
Which is why I avoid software with questionable owners and software that can't be audited, so my info isn't being digitally pawned off by Internet Jamal while CyTyrone steals a copy of it to make credit cards with.
Zachary Hill
This is pretty neat, so I can stay in contact with the faggots only using discuck without getting monitored by these assfuckers.
Jaxson Reyes
this is about how discord is using your data, not about any alt-right Sup Forums shit.
Jason Foster
>not using it through the browser and just leaving the tab open...
Chase Sanchez
I like being spied on. It makes feel like I'm part of the collective. Like I'm part of something greater. Accepting the botnet is the new digital divide. Dodging the botnet is a sign of a personal lack of integrity. People should deal with their personal shame that drives this irrational fear of connectedness. The botnet is here to help and here to stay.
Anthony Williams
My friends like to voicechat.
Basically the only reason I'm not fully debotnetted is that my friends only care about things working. Even the one other techie thinks I'm fearmongering when I talk about security flaws in things.
Carson Clark
Everybody uses it and I don't give a shit about "privacy" on it since I only use it for games and other non-important stuff. As any sane person would do. Most convenient voice chat/chat/file sharing /server program out there basically.
Grayson Powell
>t. Google
Tell me, why should you know everything about me? Why should I divulge my porn habits, my political views, my credit card info? I will not join a collective if it means giving up what I believe for a group of random human beings who would probably steal from me anyway.
Joshua Russell
I can't wait in a year or so when some autist finds out that this is some literal spy ware made by the cia/kgb and it burns in a grorios flame
Brayden Taylor
>Implying there is useful software with online capabilities that doesn't collect telemetry and personal data How disconnected from reality can someone be
Joshua Thompson
>>WILL NOT RUN without knowing all other programs you have running >selling your private information about what programs you have running to companies who use this information to see which are most used and which aren't OH THE HORROR
Jace Reyes

Why even go on the internet? Leaving means you have total safety and security.
Oliver Fisher
Therein lies the problem. To put it a different way, the most secure building is a sealed concrete coffin.
Adrian Richardson
>So, why haven't you stopped using this literal spyware program? I never used it.
>>literally a copy of slack, another team software Slack is literally a shitty copy of IRC.
>>has no owner or offices listed on their website, with no real "about us" page I fail to see how this is bad, that being said the fact that their client is non-free is bad.

Kevin James
holy shit you crazies are fucking hilarious
Jace Torres
>I don't actually have any evidence or reasoning to dispute what you said so here's a random brainless analogy I pulled out of my ass
man what happened to Sup Forums, used to be about tech now it's about neckbeards caring if the illuminati sees which loli they last fapped to
Asher Ward
butthurt hillary voter detected
Gavin Hill
>(((ZBIKOWSKI))) Every fucking time. Sup Forums is always right!
Christian Allen
You must remember that no regard for privacy is a thing not because of the government, but because feminised education system and society glorify weakness and victimization. Insanity is the new normal.
