I don't know, you tell me.

>inb4 "Gaymes XD"

I hate it when namefags are right.

Depends on the application.

VIA

AMD for desktop, until RR is released Intel for mobile. I can't imagine RR won't BTFO all the dual core i5s and shitty iGPUs.

Are they even around anymore? I haven't heard of them doing anything for a few years

cyrix of course

Ayymd, of course. Right now, Intel is still wondering what the hell hit them. Jim Keller, obv,

Wait for coffee lake. Bulldozer 2.0 is a mess

I had AMD in the past, got Intel now for over a year. Was happy with both. Don't care about brand cpu.

Fuck outta here shill

During FX it wasn't even a choice>Intel.

Now with 8th gen being 300 chipset only and a months away. No way I would buy an Intel desktop and be at the end of the road on a brand new purchase. Zen is bretty gud and the socket still has a generation or two of cpu support.>AMD

Why does anyone need such expensive processors just to surf for porn?

Some people use their CPUs for more than porn and video games. Shocking, I know.

I think FX would've done so much better if they weren't hyped as an i7 killer, if they marketed to beat smoke the i5 at it's own price point, be good at rendering, people would've expected very little, and been very impressed like I was.

I was on a tight budget and this performs really good for rendering.

>beat smoke
smoke**

only gaming: 7700k
everything else: ryzen

/thread.

I'm curious, how much better is that i7 vs a 2-core @ 3.5 GHz G4560 Pentium? Aren't devs still optimizing their games for a maximum of 2 cpu cores?

I fucking hate intel stock coolers today I had to make these chains of strips because I broke the plastic nipples you are supposed to use to secure the cooler to the motherboard. it's a fucking stupid design and I hate it. at first I had to make only one chain and secure the left side of the cooler to the fan holes and motherboard mask but I discovered a part of the strip that was preventing the fan from spinning causing a system block due to high temperatures so I had to make ANOTHER chain of strips from the HDD cage to the cooler and linking it to the first chain of strips to distance it from the fan. now everything works but guess what? THE FUCKING COOLER IS NOISY IT SUCKS FUCK YOU INTEL

Cool question, would depend on budget and games, high budget=7700k.
If low budget and you can miss those games that don't utilize cores that much, G4560?

I recently upgraded from my FX 8350 to a Threadripper meme.
And it does pretty well.

- Handles several VMs a once without a problem
- Archiving and encoding is really quick
- Stays cool and quiet with a Noctua air cooler
- Delivers over 100 FPS in all the games I've tested so far

I never had an Intel chip in my rigs because AMD always offered the better value for my money as I decided to upgrade.
Has anyone here tested the current HEDT chips from Intel and is willing to share his experiences with us?

Hey Sup Forums help me!

As a maya/blender/unity/unreal/nuke user that need to build a pc for work...is ryzen a good option? which version?

not many people who buy a cpu for rendering are on such a strict budget they cant just buy a i7

I don't get it.
What's the point here?

Nvidia.

Well of course you'd buy the newest high end stuff for production, but the FX 8 core kicks ass if you use Sony Vegas as a hobby, even does real time effects with the GPU acceleration.

The FX performed comparatively well in productivity tasks but it isn't worth buying it anymore because Ryzen gives you more for your money.

And the AM4 platform also brings all the "new" fancy stuff like NVMe suport, DDR4 and so on.

both.. also, both nvidya and radeon.
Mac, windows, linux too ...
Use the correct tool for the correct job.

Get 1700 if you're on budget or 1950x if your balls are big and money is not the question.

This, fucking fanboys

> 10°C on the CPU

Either you thermal sensors are fucked up or you fanboi just removed a 0 in order to hide that the FX is a fuckin housefire.

No, it's just sitting at 1.4GHz from cool n quiet, which I thought was a joke of a feature because >AMD, but it actually works.

If I set it to run at 4.2 all the time, it idles at 29C.

Ubderclocked probably.

amd cuz fuck intel greedy jew company

I think they make meme-cpu's now instead of x86

Are they still holding on to that licence? I mean it's not like they're competing with Intel AMD, unless maybe embedded X86

FX temp sensors aren't correctly read by Speccy.

It's possible his CPU is running at 10C if the ambient air is lower than that though

>tfw 1800x 1080ti
>maxes out trying to run Honey Select on max settings 1440p 165Hz
>tfw actually needing this powerful a setup for porn and video games

Only in china under the name Zhaoxin.
Google Zhaoxin. China doesn't give a fuck.
>not using Zhaoxin C-OctaCore [email protected]
Pleb.

>Honey Select
>unironically playing games from the worst 3d eroge developer
actually kill yourself

that shits running Unity, and u know how fucking unoptimized it is without paying attention to optimizing it.

But how can you get you CPU temp below ambient?

Or is you room like 8°C?

>10C is 50f
It was in the morning, so 10c makes sense.

>35W
Intel and AMD BTFO

Oh wew.

They can't steal everything.

>invested in AMD stock a few weeks ago
>already at a 7% loss

>28nm

Older processes are cheaper, user

If you want the best performance/price AMD

if you want the best, Intel

I'm not very knowledgeable about 3D eroge, is there a better alternative? I need my customizable waifus.

>Invested in AMD last year, at 1200% gain.
AMD is really for day traders. They spend 2-3 days losing, then 2-3 days gaining.

Both suck. Buy IBM CPUs.
raptorcs.com/

Shouldn't the Intel side on that picture be more red than the AMD one because of all the dissipated heat?

lol you first

I already have.

you expect the average consumer to buy IBM workstations that start at thousands of dollars?

i get you wanna be contrarian to both intel and amd but fuck off

>AMD: 330$ vs Shilltel: 1100$
>Same performance

No, you fuck off and go back to your botnet.

ok buddy go suck enterprise cock and pay 10x more for no reason

It's more like pay 10x more for 10x better specs.

I won't bother you anymore, so you can go back to playing games on your botnetted Windows 10.

>Has anyone here tested the current HEDT chips from Intel and is willing to share his experiences with us?

Unfortunately they're all in the hospital, suffering from 3rd degree burns.

>It's more like pay 10x more for 10x better specs.
>this faggot thinks he has a cpu with 180 cores

>This faggot thinks X times better performance = X times more cores

...

>Intelfags will defend this

...

Sorry I don't have a personal fusion reactor.

>Cinebench
>Literal visual representation of performance and intel biased
>AMD still wins
>cherrypicking

should I get a 1700 and overclock it or get a 1800x?

Does 90W TDP require nuclear reactor?

nu uh! It's cherry picked intel is the best!

1700 OC.
Don't waste your money

1800x if you're willing to spend $100 to have stock 4.0GHz. 1700 is the smarter choice for overclocking.

Not him but I'd cough up some shekels for some nicer silicon off the wafer.

I actually got an 1800x so I wouldn't have to fuck around with overclocking, and if I want to later I can probably get a stable 4.1/4.2

Intel, because I'm stubborn and I've been using them since E6600.

Damn user, I ditched intel after Sandy B, that TIM is junk.

game developers are kind of scattershot, some only go for one core, some utilize 6 cores, and this is the normal range, there are I believe under 10 games currently that scale with 8 cores

Most games are for 2 or 4 cores though, and when its 2 cores, benchmarks will show a dead heat between i7 and pentiums when the i7 isnt oced to hell and back, then the i7 crushes it in everything that uses more than 2 cores.

however, this is a near synthetic load, only enough shit loaded to run the games, when you start going into real world loads as in shit running in the background, 6 cores and 8 cores start to shine, with up till the 1700 the 6 core being the most bang for buck, as you weren't trading much maximum frame rate for FAR better load balancing.

it's funny because amd used to be the budget option and intel the premium option but now the tables have turned however they're both still relevant. i'm building a 2nd pc using an old intel i5 for $75. it's insane value for the money.

>this faggot thinks POWER is anything more than garbage tier today.
3x the power of Intel Nuclear Reactor with less performance all round.

Depends on what you consider 'nicer'
I think [email protected] is bretty good.
I can definitely push it harder.

For anything relevant, buy ryzen.

If you want le-ebin peak premium performance for gaymens xdddd buy a 7700k and delid it.

>Not Asrock/Asus
Have fun updating your BIOS

>assrock
>anus
hahahahaha

>no argument
>desperate attempt at ad hominem
For Ryzen Asrock is the best brand to go with. No nonsense like overvolting the CPU to death. Prove otherwise.

Less accurate

Crosshairs have the best BIOS/memory support out there, and best overclock tweaking bar none. Tell me when a taichi can turn its base clock down to 90MHz during boot to help with memory timing.

AMD.
It always suited me better, more for the same money etc.

The cheap quadcore chips they ship Raptor 2 with will probably be rather shit, if you want to know. Think something like those bottom-barrel Xeons (say E5-2609) that are only manufactured as placeholder CPUs for servers that the owner wants to buy CPU-less (because the vendor puts huge markup on CPUs and you can save money by installing them yourself).

Wouldn't surprise me if one Ryzen 7 actually beats two of these chips in 2S, or comes close.

Intel for laptops, AMD for desktops.

May change with Raven Ridge.

>tfw you'd unironically buy a thicc Bulldozer laptop if cheap

How about Intel or amd
