I've only used i3wm in vms and on work laptops. How well does it work with games and stuff with weird UIs like Steam?

it tiles/stacks everything including chat windows but you can write an exception for it to make Steam windows always floating

I'm running i3+XFCE, just because I'm not the only one using the machine, and the others don't know how to navigate inside of a WM. Besides that, there would be no valid reason to go with them both as XFCE will only take up space.
