Not an apple schill, but can you name a better pair of wireless in ear headphones? I know the sound quality isn't great, but going without wires or that strap seems great.

pretty much every bluetooth ear pods are the same

their bluetooth channel is the same, the compression is the same. The only real thing I can see being different is their ergonomics for being comfortable thats really it. User preference.

The problem is that people keep comparing these open-back earbuds with noise isolating earbuds in environments where the isolation is at a huge advantage, even if the SQ is objectively worse.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by wireless in this case, because true wireless earbuds are still a niche category.

For bluetooth in general, the Jaybirds X2 were excellent before they decide to give it nigger bass for the X3. 8 hours of battery life. The fit wasn't too great.

Second place would be the JLab Epic2. SQ is a little worse, but the battery life was 12 hours. Also a shitty fit for me.

I favourite at the moment is the Phiaton BT 100 NC. 12 hours of battery life, but the goddamn fit still sucks. But it's still better than the previous 2 since I do a fair amount of cardio. The noise cancellation is a nice bonus.

It looks dumb until you just kind of get used to it. I'm a chubby dude and people at my work know that I'm a 'geek' but they've never seen the AirPods as a geeky thing. I personally think it does, but the wireless freedom is not something I am willing to give up. Also it looks a little better if you have just one ear in.

They poke out like antennas. I can't help thinking of robots from the Jetsons when I see someone with one.

The bluetooth compression is not the same, there is apt-x ! applel iphones doesnt support it and its a huge leap up from SBC over A2DP

I own an iphone and MBA 256 (macbook does aptx) and use KZ-ZS5 with the apt-x blueooth cable / normal wired cable for 24bit flac.. its a quarter of the cost of airpods sounds infinately better and pretty much the best you can get at the moment

those white earpods/airpods have and always sound like ass because someone is cucking apple with all the modern headphone acoustics design patents.

yep had the kz-ate for ages and still like them. ZS5 has that amazing kz style mid and high definition still there but with much better sub-bass that i thought was always missing from the ate ... you get that with extra armatures

My cheap as fuck Taotronic headphones have better sound quality than the Apple Airpods.

I didn't even expected them to be good, bought them blindly for my gf because her shitty cabled Sennheiser were broken, after trying them I ordered them for myself aswell. I'm still amazed about the sound quality of them.
There is some minor white noise when there is no music playing but it never annoyed me, can't hear it when music is playing anyways.

Can anyone recommend a bluetooth receiver that fits the Shure/Logitech mini plugs?

I get that it's an extra feature but a barebones internal MP3 player just is asking to be awkward. You're gonna have to press Next Track thousands of times from "Aphex Twin - Album 1 - Track 1" to get to that "Wake Up Girls!" track because no drag 'n' drop track selector or folder browsing tools or keyboard to search titles is supported. It might not even play because the codec support is shit, plus you have to manually transfer what you want to listen to in advance because 4GB max.

They still function as full bluetooth buds as well, nothing special from usjng ios

Had the Jaybirds for running until they crapped out, normally use audiotechnica I bought years ago in Japan but they're dying out. If cordless is possibly decent, I'm for it.

Chink memephones may be great, but they still aren't cordless. See a lot of manchildren with these plugged in their 3DS's on the train, enjoy high quality WAHOO. Regardless, not what I'm asking for.
