The fuck, how?
I thought time still used that unit-time system that would have a stroke at 2038?
I guess they changed it.

They fixed it by storing all time information as arbitrary sized strings.

NTFS happened.
It's literally never been updated since 1993, the year of release.

Use linux and get a good filesystem that doen't use an $MTF that can be destroyed by one stray bitflip.

Brotato version 3.1 came out with xp

It's a whole 8 years newer than you think

The drive in OP's image is likely FAT32, and NTFS has been updated several times over the years. Not that it's a good filesystem, but it has redundancies in place these days.

From my experience with shitty USB drives, this is exactly how FAT32 shitting itself looks like. Yeah have a nice day.

>use windows
>expects security

How would have Linux dealt with this?
Not bait, im just interested.

It wouldn't have happened on a good filesystem.

Yeah. Your hardware becomes bulletpruf when you install GNU/Linux on it. But only THE RIGHT KIND ;-]..

Basically the same way because it's the filesystem of the the flash drive that went autistic. Maybe you'd get a message from the kernel that your drive is fucked.

looks like the files are encrypted

I remember faking this once at college.
I really couldn't be bothered doing an assignment at the time since I was just out of hospital.
So I backed everything up then I "corrupted" things by opening in wordpad, deleting chunks of shit, then pasting random symbols in as filenames.
Worked a treat.
