you need to replace the screen

Install Gentoo.

No, it's fucked. Look on ebay, amazon or aliexpress for a replacement panel if it's cheap enough.

get new screen

You broke it.

NVM guys, fixed it ;-)

How much would that cost? Also, there's no physical cracks. I don't really understand computers well so I'm not sure how that works.

that depends on the screen
call HP

Who the hell are you

bout tree ffiddy

Ok thanks.

Looks like the bottom right of the scren works. Install a TWM and just use that area.

It's not the screen, it's the RAM. The computer has become too slow and it's not able to send all the pixels to the screen in time before the next frame kicks in.
Just buy more RAM and everything will be fine.

I've got a laptop like that and I just use it with an external monitor now. you can replace a laptop screen relatively easily but you'll have to open up the laptop a bit and unplug a ribbon cable or two. You might even be able to upgrade the panel to something better than the one you broke

win+p is the keyboard command in windows to switch back and forth between monitors, in case you can't see the screen well enough to do it through the menu

>BUY RAM
AHAHAHAHA
just download it nigger

Get out you goddam Loch Ness monster

Thanks. I'll try it

How the fuck did you manage to post on Sup Forums?

I closed my computer to see if it might do something. Still hearing audio

Using my kindle

You broke the fucking screen you caveman

the screen is broke ya dingus
the panel
the display

you need to buy a replacement lcd panel that fits your model number and replace it, its not hard.

in the mean time you can use an external monitor

You broke the panel of the monitor.
Its is the thing that shows you the picture idiot.

I'm you. ;-)

Ok then

Give it back, Jamal.

how did you know I'm black

Fukkin lol

For me, it was your low intelligence.

What do you mean?

Case in point.

Best thread on all of Sup Forums.

What?

Thanks. This is actually my first thread on Sup Forums

This is what happens when you remove the cooling grocery bag from your computer.

I messed it up even more

Stop chimping out and have a banana.

You dingus, you won't fix it, just buy a new screen and replace it.

I'm pretty much broke

I don't like bananas all that much.

problem: you broke the fucking screen
solution: either find an alternative, fix the screen, or buy a new laptop
i suggest a thinkpad t420 as they're very durable and you can hit it with your drumstick all you want :~~3

have you tried rice?

My computer is still playing percussion performances and I'm not even sure what they're even competing in. I also don't even remember finishing typing in 'snare cam'

Thanks.

There's not even brass or woodwind. Just drumline and front ensemble

:(
Either suck up to it or get an external screen. Where I live, CRT monitors are given away for free, I'm sure you will find a cheap one in your area. They're old and make an annoying sound but beggars can't be choosers.
It's either use your laptop as a desktop or get a new screen, you can do one while saving up to do the other. There's no way around it, those are your options.

I'll do that. Thanks

Do what? Buy a new screen or get a CRT monior?

From the way you post I'm not sure if you know what a CRT monitor is. It's one of these. Check if your computer has the right port before you get one.

Buy a new screen. I just need to save the money

Shig

Which side is broken? The side with the skyscraper or the side with bearded guy?

Plug it into a cheap external monitor. If you don't have one you can get one at a thrift store or pawn shop for $15-20.

The side with the skyscraper. The bottom right is the only part that works.

Like I said, where I live CRTs are given for free, just get one if you want to use your computer at home while you save money.

They are messing with you... Just buy a replacement screen. If it's not available then buy a Thinkpad next time. Thinkpads are easy to upgrade and replace shit on.

Or listen to this guy: if all you do is use it at home anyway. It's not possible to fix this without a lab that can make a new screen much cheaper anyway.

Fuck you I was trying to help, if he doesn't have any money he should just get a CRT for free.

I know this sounds weird but you need to rub fluored substance on the damaged zone. Toothpaste worked for me, I know it sounds fucking retarded but it worked

I was not saying anything bad about that. That is a great idea. But the whole "get more RAM, that will solve it" nonsense is not helping anyone. Everyone here has at some point known as much as OP does regarding technology, it's not helping anyone by telling him to get more RAM is what I meant.

You made it sound like every single reply ITT was a joke.

All of you fell for OP's bait. He just used a broken LCD background.

Swearing doesn't make you sound any less retarded. OP, DON'T rub toothpaste on a screen. Use thermal paste and fullscreen display an image with a warm color. With any luck the paste will keep the heat on the screen and reflow the liquid crystals in the LCD. It's a hack together fix and is liable to break on you any time even if it does work, but if you have a techie friend that does CPUs they ought to have a spare tube and then it's a for free/beer.99 fix until you get a proper solution in order.

quads confirm

Both of these solutions are mostly relying on witchcraft and there is no scientific basis for this.

Yeah and so is your screen.

Put it in your microwave oven. The heat from the microwaves will repair the dead pixels.

That doesn't look the same at all.

Is this you OP?

there's dozens of them. go look it up. who knows which one he used.

Shit takes me back man.

he meant how did you manage to find this board

OP here. It's not bait

It was the evil white man's technology. They make it too hard to use!

I use Sup Forums a lot and I remembered that Sup Forums was foe technology. I went on here once but got off because I'm not a tech guy

OP you probably already have a monitor around that works. Does your computer have an hdmi port? or a vga port?
most modern tv's have both and would make fine interim monitors

lmao kys cuck.

Kek. Why would I kill myself?

> defending a violation of the rules
> defending op for not going to the proper threads/boards
Reading stickies and rules is not a technical skill. Get out.

>defending OP for not going to the proper threads/ boards
I just started this thread for quick suggestions. And also, this is the proper board for computer questions

>HP
found your problem, retard.

turn on text to speech and use it as if you were blind

Type your computer model and replacement screen into google. I've done it for one of my 17" screens for like 150 dollars.

You need take your screen out of its cover and unplug a ribbon cable. Connect the new screen using the ribbon cable and try to re-use the old tape to keep everything snug and connected. Assemble the cover back on and you should be good to go - just don't lose any small screws.

Buy a MacBook Pro.

Update your GPU driver and then use a dead pixel fixer program. What you have is effectively a very large number of dead pixels.

Kill yourself, you dumb fucking shit stain.

Underrated post

Ahahahahahaha! How does one manage to hit their screen with a drumstick if you don't mind me asking, OP? You might want to consider dumpster diving for a crt monitor.

THIS D E S U

You are not you when you're hungry

Take your ADHD meds next time you spastic.

Hardware engineer here, that display is not "broken" like most people are telling you. You can see the display turns on just fine, the problem is that a few hundred pixels just dislocated from their frame because you literally hit it with a fucking drumstick.

Maybe, it's possible to fix it by heating (I'm not trolling, search for "reballing"), when you heat the laptop a little bit, the tiny parts moves around, it's very likely that the pixels will move back to their frames. You can heat just the display, or if it's easier for you, the whole laptop, no problem there, those laptops are supposed to handle up to 100ºC (Search for Intel's T junction temps). So don't worry, you can literally put your laptop in the oven at 100ºC for 30 minutes and the display may fix itself. If it doesn't, just replace it anyway.

post pape

this

Not so sure, looks like OP destroyed the display, worth trying tho.
