if an job interviewer tells me that they're "interviewing other candidates" is that basically saying i fucked up?
i applied for a entry level web-dev job. interviewed today, thought it was going great, and then they told me that they're interviewing other people until friday. feels like a cheap way to say i wasnt picked
I have two questions about Amazon.
1. I, for the first time, bought a kindle book on amazon instead of the hardcover, because i needed the book right away and couldnt wait. I noticed that the only way to pay for it was through One Click (R) payment.
It doesn't tell me HOW exactly i am paying for it. Credit card? debit card? i have more than one payment method on my amazon account.
2. i downloaded Amazon Kindle on my phone, and it also did this weird Instant Apps installation. i looked it up and it says Instant Apps can run apps on my phone without installing them. But i installed the Kindle viewer, so wtf is it running on my phone without my permission?
Ctrl+Shift+D
"Thank y..." Don't mention it.
NO I MEANT THE PATH IN THE FOLDERS LIKE ~/USERNAME/.CONFIG/CHROMIUM/???????????????????????
Going full screen in youtube with Chrome canary is really choppy, any ideas?
it's usually the first card that's set up. you can check in payments to see which card it's paying with.
and the instant apps is botnet. it usually comes with phones that carriers give for free as a way to get you to buy a new phone
>Chrome canary

I just found a dead bug on my monitor and I can't see any way to crack it open.
What do I do? It's this one.
how do I turn 1 layer black and white in gimp?
You open your favorite search engine and type just that in.

is the community for full headset VR games pretty big?
im considering buying an HTC vive, if i buy some of the multiplayer games will i always have people to play with or will i have to set up games myself?
I'm in the UK and last night I downloaded a movie. My isp, Sky, sent me this "Get It Right" message notifying me that I'd downloaded copyrighted content. Am I fucked or is it fine to ignore?
vr is a gimmick
i'm new to c and i fucked around a bit and noticed that you can continue running your program even if an array goes out of bounds lmao. i suppose this is how people exploit insecure programs but my question is how could i fix such issue in a c/c++ program?
Any way to make two images on the same row using markdown?
Want to make a fancy readme.md.
Hey guys so..... I bought Pioneer VSX-321 5.1 and i want to connect it to the PC. Thing is i have no idea how to setup the cables. There are so many slots for them... where do i plug in the cables on the pic provided?
Read it and plug it in what you want where you want it
that did not really help me. I mean there are as you can see 6 sections - CD-R/TAPE, SURR BACK PRE OUT/ CD/SAT/ TV/DCD/ and one without name. Which section do i have to choose for PC?
Why dont you read your manual and find out?
All masters,
is Kali Linux usable for normal usage? Youtube, porn, spotify, netflix, some university apps?
I want to make it my main distro, I don't like carrying usb drive for live cd.
What seems to be the problem? Just don't leave a space between the images and they will belong in the same paragraph.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.

Vivamus fermentum semper porta.
manual doesnt really say anything about connecting it to PC
Then perhaps the "pc" setting dosent support external audio
As a statement to your terms of service insisting people stay within the defined boundaries.
hah, i guess my question really was stupid
Alternatively some markdown parsers support tables too and some of them allow you to even use colspan

Can I change and customize the home and back buttons on my Android? Have nova launcher and it's rooted/flashed with crdroid, just can't find the option
Java jvm is showing 18gb of ram on init of the program, despite me only having 16gb and setting it to use max 4096mb.Its ooming my system and hard locking it.
What setting am i missing?
so i resetted my NAS and i can't acess it since it got a different subnet ip (192.169.1.100) and i can't portforward it since it's on another subnet than my router/my PC (192.168.0.1-etc)
my question is how can i change my subnet IP address for my PC so i can connect to my NAS?(
What should I use for PDFs on windows? Is there anything better than the Foxit I've been using for about 7 years now?
Run it in a virtual machine.
mpv with youtube-dl
What's the best free, as in "$0 no premium options" free, Microcock Orfice Word 2016 add-in (or windows native) grammar checker? Been using the free version of Grammarly for a while now but pic related is rage inducing.
I'm trying to access a disk that's most likely dead (Windows wouldn't start anymore and it makes weird noises now that I have it connected externally). It shows up in Windows but I'm not able to access it, get a message saying it's not available something to do with CRC.
Is there a recommended software I can use to try and salvage some data from it?
Pleb here. Without going through my life experiences thus far, just know I'm wanting to pic up software engineering, but unfortunately lack a lot of prerequisite knowledge. I have some experience programming in Java and (a little) in C (haven't gotten to pointers yet).
I'm trying to work through K&R 2e but my lack of knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture is holding me back. All I've ever used is Windows, so I would like to learn Unix (maybe linux or solaris?).
I got a book on computer architecture that uses examples "based on Intel-compatible processors running C programs on Unix or Unix-like OS."
The book says that if your computer runs WIndows you have two choices:
first, get acopy of linux and istal it as a dual boot option so your machine can run either
or
installing a cop[y of the Cygwin tools and have a Unix-like shell under windows.
My question is, will doing either of these affect the performance of my PC? And which would you recommend doing? Thanks.
Just run any lightweight distro on a flash drive, then go into your bios settings and extend the boot window to 5 seconds. Most linux distros use very little resources.
Cool, I will try this. Recommend any distros? I have heard Mint is good for beginners so I'm leaning towards taht. thanks btw
I'll avoid the angry (You)s from certain distro fanboys and just say to use any babby-tier distro, which would be Mint (like you said) or Ubuntu, although Ubuntu is more resource intensive.
I'm looking to get a 4K TV to use as a gaming monitor, I'm not big on fps / competitive play so I don't mind the input lag,
Should I get this TV?

Should I get an external hard drive to back up my files? Does it just plug into the usb slot? Do they have a higher rate of failure?
I just want to back up a bunch of more torrented files that would be a huge pain in the ass to find again.
I've never used mint but I do know that debian is pretty good. A "noob-friendly" distro like mint or ubuntu may not be the best choice of you're trying to learn more, since it never encourages you to go out of your way - you could probably use it just like windows, with a few differences such as installing packages for software.
So try out debian - it's very similar to ubuntu but does a bit less hand-holding. When you see something you don't understand, do the research needed to make an informed choice. Soon you will have a good idea of what the fuck Linux is and how to use it at a high level, what the differences between distros are, and you'll be able decide for yourself what to do next.
These mainstream distros also have a vast amount of documentation about every aspect, and plenty of people on forums and chats. So if you get lost, it's not going to be hard to find help.
t. installed Void as the first distro and had to figure everything out myself
Sure, yes, not unless you throw them around.
You could also consider a cheap NAS enclosure.
Ubuntu. Mint if you want cinnamon DE.
>Should I get an external hard drive to back up my files?
Yes
>Does it just plug into the usb slot?
Yes
>Do they have a higher rate of failure?
Not really.
Just back up your files every 3 months or whatever and keep the external backup HDD in a sealed enclosure or something, plenty of those on the market.
Most appreciated guys
>Just back up your files every 3 months
This is a horrible idea.
Back up daily with hourly incrementals
Thanks for the input. While I'm not a huge gamer, there are a few I like to play specificaly on PC (mostly Age of Empires 2 on Steam). I've heard non-Windows OS's kind of suck for gaming in general, but that Ubuntu is the best. Is there any truth to this?
Not him but I am below babby-tier when it comes to Linux knowledge. I thought I read though that Ubuntu has integrated Amazon or something, which like ideologically you shouldn't support?
That said, am I being advertised to in my Nightly? I must've missed the outrage over this.
Is Visual Studio any good? Is it easy to set up the debug?
Anyone? I don't want to download some sketchy shit.
How big are all the torrent files combined? If it's less than a niggabyte, back them up over several small chinkshit external HDDs. They're very failure prone, but the chances of them all failing at once approaches zero. And yes, they do just plug in to the USB, but larger external hard drives may require you to drive the external HDD by plugging it in to a power outlet
as well.
Now that I think about it, disregard what I said, and listen to . Using a babby tier distro won't teach you anything.
You're correct, but that only really matters if you're connecting to the Internet with it, If you are doing , it doesn't matter. Also, there's many forks of firefox online that are privacy oriented. If you care, you can use those.
One of the best IDEs, but a shit text editor.
For CRC, refer to this: en.wikipedia.org

Thank you. It asked to repair but it failed immediately. I guess it's really dead.
Thanks for addressing both the Ubuntu and Firefox subject matter in my post. I sorta saw that other guy's post and mentally went "hey!", then deciding to messily say some may not be ok with what they're doing or something...
Curved screens are terrible. If you don't mind swapping out your TV every 4 years, get a sceptre TV.
Better than CLion?
Meant to say Visual Studio Code.
Hey not him but when my HDD was dying I was able to like hold F8 when booting my laptop (making sure not to boot from HDD which would risk it dying entirely if not just stress it needlessly), boot from a Windows 7 recovery CD (burned the .iso to a USB), open notepad and through the notepad options was able to move the data to a different USB I had plugged into the laptop. I'm not sure if the steps are right, but provided the HDD can still be powered this may be the safest way to attempt to salvage data from it, provided an actual digital data recovery expert or however they might be called doesn't know a safer way.
No problem.
If there's one thing Microcock does right, it's IDEs.
For text editors, the one to choose for bullshit-free text editing is definitely Atom.
Also, someone please answer this:
Responding to myself but I guess this wouldn't help since you already access the drive externally without booting from it... This is just a way to do it without a working HDD to boot from, I guess. Sorry.
Why is it when I click on threads in the thread watcher it takes me to the bottom of the thread and not the new posts?
By using the muscles in your right hand, you can navigate to the [Update] button.
no, the new posts are already shown. It should bring me to the first new post but it doesn't. Firefox and native extension.
There's a surprisingly large and active community for VR titles, even though it's a niche market.
I work at a video game company and we have an HTC Vive and Oculus Rift at the office, so I hop on every so often to play and they both have lots of people online playing. It's really fun. I never have to make a lobby or anything; there's already games going on with other people.
No problem, thanks anyway.
Is Windows 10 LTSB worth using? I'm only concerned about losing the feature updates, although I don't know how useful they might be?
For 1080p 144Hz, is there any difference at all between using displayport 1.2 and dual-link dvi?
Why do people fear ghosts?
>5.1 receiver
>no 6 ch RCA in
Easiest way would be to get a 3.5 mm audio jack to RCA cable and connect your motherboard and receiver. Another option is HDMI.

should i buy a 4gb GTX980 or a 3gb GTX1060? same money, which is better?

Didn't get any replies last thread. YouTube has a shitty new layout that fucks up my YouTube Center script. My browser clears all data on exit. Every time I open my browser and go to YouTube, I have to revert back to the old layout. How do I avoid this shit? Any other scripts that work with the new layout and is as good as YT Center?
Why don't Xfce distros include and enable Compton by default? All hardware I tested Xfce/MATE/LXDE (on any distro) on had tearing until I enabled Compton. Fixing tearing is easy, so why isn't it "fixed" by default?
what ffmpeg version should I use? dev (nightly, but fairly stable) or release (stable, but with less features)? I just use ffmpeg for webms and light conversions from mkv to mp4
You can turn it off manually once it sets your igpu. You don't need compton. It kills the whole light on resources thing.
Me again. Tried running chkdsk. Should I just give up on it. It's also making weird ticking sounds when connected.
Is there a good, non-bloated notepadd app for android? I literally just want notepad.exe with a better undo history. Every single text editing app I've seen so far is either a word processor (full of bloat like text formatting), a code editor (full of bloat like autoindent and syntax highlighting) or a note app (full of bloat like shopping list support, todo list support, note colour-coding/tagging, etc.)
Is rooting a Android phone to a custom ROM such as lineage OS to my s5 relatively idoit proff nowadays right?
No bootlooping shit like that and stupid proff guides right?
I'm 22 and I finished the school as a sysadmin few months ago in the middle of Yurop. I'd like to go aboard because anywhere I search the average payment is about 10-12 bucks a day and they don't want to take in beginners.
Any ideas how should I search for, and possibly find a job and get some work experience too meanwhile?
Thanks Sup Forums.
question 1: what is systemd and what is Sup Forums's problem with it?
question 2: why is C better than C++ for so many people?
Right, just make sure you download the right ROM for your phone before flashing it. I have an S4 Value Edition and other S4 roms wouldn't work with it.
systemd a shit
cpp a shit
systemd is the inti (initialization) process that is started by the kernel
systemd is not liked because it has become a dependency instead of a part of the unix philosophy
Alright, given I have ddr3 memory and a very old i3, what is the wisest graphics card purchase I could make here? I have about $100 to spend.
pls reply
Is the Code 128 Barcode Patented? If so, what are some Patent-free alternatives?
Get a 2gb one which won't be able to run many games with that, if you play at all. If I were you then I'd save up a little more and spend it on a 4-6gb one.
If you really have just $100 left, you could go with a 750ti, but honestly, if you can somehow hustle another $50, you would be solid with a 1050ti.
Why not the gt730? seems like a good deal to me
