I just read it all though

When the fuck will the Wiki be back up?

Never opened these wiki/paste links before. This is really helpful and I now have quite a lot to learn. Thanks, OP.

You're welcome. That's why we're here.

I always thought that's just some interjection copypasta crap, but there's some actually useful stuff in here!

It's fine. Back in the days the first 5 posts were part of OP. Not joking here.

InstallGentoo wiki is great, shame it's been down for days

Reposting.

My laptop has dual GPU (integrated intel HD graphics and dedicated Nvidia). What should I know before I try to install GNU/Linux?

Will I want to kill myself trying to make them work? Is there a version of Nvidia Control Panel for GNU/Linux to choose which programs use each GPU?

As it is now, they just barely work on windows. I would need them to at least barely work as they do now.

By the way, I haven't set on a distro yet, but I'm leaning towards Devuan. The DE should be KDE Plasma.

cool shirt, but what kind of retard wears something that looks like a razor blade as jewellery?

I want to experiment with smb multichannel. I have a ubuntu server with 2x nics, a desktop with 1x nic so far but about to buy a second and I have a managed switch.

So far I've been trying to get the 2x NICs working on the linux box but I don't really know enough about networking, thought it was just a case of assigning an IP to both NICs but I was told that I need to set up some kind of routing between them?

The NICs have 192.168.0.15/16 assigned respectively. What kind of routing do I need to setup? I can draw a network map if it helps but it's a piss easy setup.

Broadband router -> switch -> Desktop and server

what's a linux box?

ur mums pooter

Has anyone here fixed their Nvidia's Code 43 error when doing a GPU passthrough? Solution on Arch wiki doesn't work.

A squared kernel.

Trying to connect to eduroam on my wifi uni with netctl, but i dont know the lines to add for complex networks likr this one. Pic related is what should be filled in.

It's a shame the wiki can't fix your lack of reading comprehension skills

Should I install Gentoo on my single core ancient laptop?

Only if you are very patient

Is there any easy way to uninstall GRUB directly from the GRUB terminal or something? I don't want to bother to make a bootable windows device to do that.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda

G-guise, I am stuck at the last part of Arch installation. When I tried to install grub on /dev/sda1, it tells me that ext2 file systems are incompatible with embedding. I am perfectly sure that I formatted that partition with mkfs.ext4, what gives? Also, I had to specify the target as i386-pc, how do i specify it as amd64?

Anyone tried this Arch install script before want to give me their impressions?

...

What sort of question is this?

LOL

Thanks dude xD

>tfw the posts ITT are getting weirder every day

WHY are people copy-pasting that retarded if= of= faggotry? Do you all learn by reading shitty blogs? Jesus christ.

Thanks for explaining

what are you mad about, friend?

FUUUU

Normal people install it how it's meant to be installed because they're not pretentious idiots.

>install on /dev/sda1
Learn to read.

tl;dr
dd < penis > vagina

This is why /prog/ never should have been deleted. So that we could weed out the ADHD, phoneposting shitposters like you who can't handle a paragraph of text without being supplemented by pretty pictures.

that's not standard dd syntax

>arch users
>they're not pretentious idiots

I like Bash pipes but this is kind of obscure. 'input file' and 'output file' are something that is hard to mess up.

I was going to ask Artix or Devuan, but Artix doesn't even seem to have an installer.
So is Devuan really the only option if you want to go systemdless?

>inb4 Gentoo

whats wrong with systemd?

Don't Void and Guix also ship with a non-systemd init?

gentoo, or try one of the BSDs if you havent already

GuixSD comes with it's own init GNU Shepherd, Void comes with runit.

nobody knows

>mfw taught my bf how 2 install and use Linux, specially arch Linux
>come home and he's installing his own desktop environments and loving customising everything

Best feeling, everyone else I've showed, uses it for a week, complaints steady increase, leave for windows cuz much games and excel.

But this boy is a problem solver and a cute one :3

Now tell him about GNU.

No we hate communism :^)

What does /dev/random output?
When I do cat /dev/random, what type of data is being display?
Or when I do

>dd if=/dev/urandom bs=1 count=1 status=none

what is that one character that I get? I don't really understand it.

man 4 random
go away and never come back

Linux is better without GNU trash. Soon as GCC dead, Linux can finally prosper.

it's just random data, your terminal might not be able to display it properly if it's not represented in any character sets. if you want human readable data, run base64 /dev/urandom

Anyone?
Doesn't anyone run dual GPUs or know whether it works?
I see most issues with GNU/Linux seem to involve nvidia GPUs, so I was wondering if I should expect double the trouble by having 2 GPUs.

>complaining about pictures on an anime imageboard

What file system should i chose for my media storage?
