Is this the silk road dude?

It's unconscionable. How do they live knowing they ruined an innocent life?

>accessing said website directly via personal computer instead of doing it remotely through a VPN

He deserved it. Also he tried to order a hit on someone. That's not cool.

>php
he deserved it

>life long sentence for pushing some atoms into some other atoms

>two life sentences for creating a black market for substances that are illegal in the country he resides. He also could have maybe ordered the assassination of various individuals. Maybe.

I don't agree with it and honestly find it sickening, but at least be factual for what he was put in jail for.

yeah, he posted his personal Gmail account when he advertised his new site (silk road) back in the day kek

>implying he made the website

he was threatening to leak all his info online, there was a lot at stake then

>Also he tried to order a hit on someone.
Where is the actual proof?
>two life sentences for creating a black market for substances that are illegal in the country he resides. He also could have maybe ordered the assassination of various individuals. Maybe.
>could
>maybe
No evidence for the case except the website. He facilitated with the website and it became popular. Nothing more. Yet he gets two life sentences. Absurd.

Since the only 'acceptable' means of prejudice theses days is of sexual aesthetic.. I say GUILTY! GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!

lmao that dude is 100% getting railed every day by bbc in prison

>He facilitated with the website and it became popular. Nothing more. Yet he gets two life sentences. Absurd.

He was a party to a crime, if this is your argument then he is essentially like a 'look out' for a break in. He knew that a crime was being committed and he profited from this action be that directly or indirectly.

He's in a supermax so no he isn't

Fug apologies nevermind he isn't

Google is party to and actively facilitates crimes every day. Yet their lawyers argues they are just an indexer of crime. Billion dollar company. Sorry, Billions.

I wish it still existed so that we had some way of measuring how much the price of bitcoin was killing actual commerce.

Sounds super up there. If so why???

He cut into CIA's business and couldn't compete.

it actually pisses me off this guy gets hit hard with the books and chelsea manning is free. Edward had a good reason. Manning was just a bitch "bawww innocent people die in war"

>tfw all darknet sites are now owned by the CIA
Killing two birds with one stone

I don't see how his service was so good that it was all that worth going to prison for.

People in my area sell drugs through fucking whatsapp and telegram groups, and nobody catches them.

The only service he had was a platform for people to sell illicit things. He didn't really do anything illegal himself.

Manning was given an exorbitant sentence in order "send a message" to other potential leakers. They did nothing wrong. Also he/she is becoming a pretty good trap.

>Also he/she is becoming a pretty good trap.
KEK

he leaked classified data that surprised no one.

Kim dot com would've walked...errr...used a scooter and slowly got away.

Google takes steps to remove and prevent the facilitation of a crime. They also dutifully comply with all legal requests for information. Google is a party to a crime everyday but they acknowledge this and meet their obligations under law to comply with all lawful requests for information.

Ross Ulbricht in my country would need to at the minimum create reasonable doubt that he was not aware of what was on the website and create reasonable doubt that he did not profit directly or indirectly from the managing the website. Reasonable doubt could be that codes were used to describe the items sold that were non-descriptive based on his access to the website as a manager, which he was paid to manage for a set fee among a range of other websites he was managing.

Google complies with what they have to comply with to skirt justice. They still profit from anything they can get away with and claim ignorance. I'm sorry, how does someone profit from a tor site? But the real message is clear... principles are punishable by the toughest means, profit is ignored.

yeah, no, absolutely not. Google is above the law because of good old fashioned corruption

But if the G word triggers you, think Craigslist. Same thing

>Google complies with what they have to comply with to skirt justice. They still profit from anything they can get away with and claim ignorance.

Correct, if you were operating a multi-billion company would you hire hundreds of thousands possibly even millions of staff to check the content of your content daily? Google does not win many if not any points for taking the moral high ground, but under law they are compliant with the law of the countries they operate in.

>I'm sorry, how does someone profit from a tor site?

It could be in the same way that Visa and Mastercard operate, by skimming a small percentage off the money the seller makes or through a subscription based service.

You can also profit from a crime by having insider knowledge of the market, which you can use to undercut other sellers and or prevent other sellers from going below your price.

He was also 'managing' the site and it could be reasonable expected that somehow along his journey he may have encounter some of the material that could have been a thumbail that is an image representing drug use. A reasonable person who puts together enough of the clues could reasonable expect that he would understand what was on the website, which at this point he became a party to the crime if he did not report it to the authorities.

Craiglist is very similar to Google in following the law to the letter it needs to be compliant. They also love to reduce their responsibility of damages against them by clearly outlining the sexual health risks of meeting strangers online.

>along his journey he may have encounter some of the material that could have been a thumbail that is an image representing drug use. A reasonable person who puts together enough of the clues could reasonable expect that he would understand what was on the website, which at this point he became a party to the crime if he did not report it to the authorities.

What nigger?

> multi-billion company would you hire hundreds of thousands possibly even millions of staff

Reasonably? Yes.

> minimum create reasonable doubt

Sorry if he became aware of what on the website he could open to profiting from the website, as my introducing to other people on referral to gain a benefit. Earning a profit can be seen as a benefit that can be monetary, receiving a service (i.e. blowjob) or even a good.

>What nigger?

Soz I was unclear. Plz see:

Your mangled English is too much for me to deal with tonight. I'm done.

I'd visit him for sex

Soz, I hope my service improves future in. Please accept a picture of this kind looking man.

at the peak of silk road, drug related street crime declined in the us. let that sink in.

>Manning was given an exorbitant sentence in order "send a message" to other potential leakers.

That was pointless when his sentence was commuted.

silk road was about free market and anarchocapitalism. they never intended it to be a drug market, it just happened.

>Go to prison for making a certain frequency

I could imagine that a very similar trend was with pornography industry that overcame its regulatory hurdles, which from memory resulted in a decrease sex crimes.

I really could give no fuck if someone wants to use drugs as long as it has no impact on a child, young person or elderly person in their care. Your choice is your choice, which results in a reduction in crime without adverse effects on people who do not want to use drugs then go for it. Adults should be able to make these choices as long as they are aware of any potential risks.

i completly agree with you. i'd rather have my neighbours getting their smack via snailmail than have some shady pusher lurking around the house every other day.

So if he didn't call for a hit, where did that claim come from?

That always annoyed me when watching COPS.

>We just saw someone come from a known drug house, we'll bust him and do nothing about the known drug house

The claim is a judge needs to issue a warrant and if it turns up nothing it can risk his career.

>>life long sentence for pushing some atoms into some other atoms

Isn't a pulling a trigger and shooting someone pushing some atoms into some other atoms? Or clubbing/beating someone to death?

>at the peak of silk road, drug related street crime declined in the us. let that sink in.

Very plausible.

I would love to see some actual stats on that though.

it was assumed by hearsay. it's not even established that ulbricht was the only person using the dread pirate roberts account, he just took the fall - or was forced to take it.

Wow he's way too hot to be a programmer.

wired published a piece about it wired.com/2014/06/silk-road-study/

stabbing someone repeatedly too

That's the joke

>in a paper released online

Ah yes, the highly respected scientific journal "The Internet".

Fake news. SAD.

almost every paper got released online, what is your problem? it's a crime statistic, not genetic research.

>Fake news. SAD.
go to bed donald

psychopathy in capitalism is the rule not the exception.

yup only happens in captalism. not magical commie land.

Sorry if this is in bad taste but he looks very handsome and /fit/. I wonder if he will be beat up in prison by nogs, that would be a shame.

he's probably with the Aryan brotherhood and shanked a nigger or two

Shitty opsec and stupid enough to stay in the US. Deserves it.

Apparently he was caught in a lirary? Who the fuck manages an illegal website from a public library?

public wifi, can stay there for hours with a laptop without looking suspicious.

What's that?
t. Eurofag

>go to prison for gathering some photons

No one will go to prison for running a site like that now that OpenBazaar 2.0 is out

locked in your own cell for 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Arguable, there was and is drug scene/mafia regardless. Silkroad turned into comfy ebay market.

>one of the most purely capitalist websites of all time
>seized and shut down by the state
>owner imprisoned by the state
>???????
>this is capitalism's fault

I think he means electrons...

>He was a party to a crime
could you tell me of a case where a party to a crime (the dreaded look out) has ever gotten such a sentence
go and look at murder cases not even there do they get such ridiculous sentences

>liberals want it this way

he was a scapegoat by all means. we still don't know who else was involved in this and imaginge the cartells would adopt that system. they could set up some sites like SR in no time, maintained far away from the DEAs grip and if they are madman enough, they just buy one or two smaller fedes-like courier services and ship their product without any hassle.

America is basically Israel these days. Just stop using dollars and start calling them shekels for real.

>street crime declined
Perhaps. that does not mean the crime of selling drugs declined.

That is not a paper. That is an article about a paper. And journalists are known to add a bias. Also Wired has declined in quality the last 5 years.

>Rampaging conspiracy screed.

>America is basically Israel these days.
What did user mean by this?

> (You)
>>street crime declined
>Perhaps. that does not mean the crime of selling drugs declined.
that's not the point. declining street crimes means less violence, less innocent victims.
> (You)
>That is not a paper. That is an article about a paper. And journalists are known to add a bias. Also Wired has declined in quality the last 5 years.
what's wrong with an article about an paper? also, your personal opinion about the quality of a certain media does not weight in your argument.
(You)
>Rampaging conspiracy screed.
Cite?
none, it's a theory.

no this is Sup Forums

he'll get raped with other pretty boys
he's not that handsome or /fit/ though

you know who owns the state?

>Undercutting the CIA and the DEA on their own hometurf
DPR fucked up big time

The Rothschild family, duh

Well. We know that law enforcement usually arrests middle men. I guess they'd rather have one of their boys making all that money instead.

>go to prison for activating some almonds

>Getting a significantly longer sentence for drugs compared to murder or rape
America, land of the free. Can't be cutting in the CIA funded drug industry now can we

i hope he can into monk mode and not go crazy feels sad mang

>two life sentences
what the fuck? is he getting reborn and jailed again?

that is a pretty serious claim, why didn't it show up in court?

>Hey there baby... guess what?! If you resurrect we send yo ass back into jail, baby
The justice system acting like niggers.

If he gets reincarnated into an animal, guess what?
JAIL TIME!

The atoms don't even touch. Can you believe being jailed for life for not even touching someone?
