Why did lelnovo go with the chiclet meme anyway other than muh modern look?

The individual keys are more stable on the new keyboard, plus I think the theory is that by retaining the same surface area for the intended hit-zone while reducing the area around it, you reduce the chance of typos.
I don't like the new keyboard as much as the old but it's still easily the best laptop keyboard out there.
