Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.

Got my thinkpad with a locked BIOS replaced.

>lower resolution screen (it was upgraded before)
>greasy as fuck
>trackpad worn out
>CPU spiking
>possible fan problems
ffs buying thinkpads is annoying.

>not exclusively using ThinkClit™ and disabling normiepad in the bios

sucks for scrolling fampai

have you tried scrolling like this?
>thumb on middle button
>index finger on trackpoint

HELP!
I want to do the regedit modificationso the trackpoint middle button inputs as middle click, but how do I enter dword:00002214 ?
The registry wont accept the letter w.

use linux

But I need to use windows for now.

Someone please.

Which series would be retro, i mean will it be workstation and such?

Repoast

Decided to boot up my win install to rice my BIOS screen. I'm running Win10 LTSB on an X220 here.
I was reading the readme on the BIOS utility and it seems to be for a UEFI BIOS whereas mine is running a legacy BIOS.

Anyone know where/how I can update/acquire the legacy one? I'm still looking around but I haven't found it yet.

Thanks for putting the booru in the OP.

pls contriboot

retro is based on T470
enjoy your ultrabook

Does the W520 use the same palmrest as the T530?

>Not physically removing the trackpad.

I still don't get this

thee plebiest

What should I do with my old T500 now that I just bought a T530, /tpg/?

Use it as server.

It will still work. Your bios has legacy features but is still EFI.

respond pls

I don't even get this

You sir, are a truly Patrician.

Hey! I made that OP picture!

Libreboot it.

my memory is spiking now

I only ordered 3 but got 4, neat!

So if I get only one instead of two it's your fault

this is a hate crime

THAT WAS MINE

Ahh cheers. Got it sorted.

why did you remove elitebooks and dells?

>Recommended IBM models:
>X60, X61, T60, T61
those are all post-lenovo though
even if some have the logo, none of them were designed or built under IBM

Because they are elitebooks and dells

Uhm does anyone happen to know a way to reverse this patch?

My x220 fan speeds keep reving up even when performing basic tasks, thinking about changing the thermal paste, but also might consider replacing the fan. Links to any good replacements?

Can get my hands on a X200T that has been renovated with both new RAM and a new harddisk for $180, is it worth?

I NEEDED ONEEEEEE

you missed out

>Anime
Hi!
Go to hell.

Hi! This is an anime website.

A macbook air is more worth it

Not worth it

Not worth it

you can get one for like 60 quid mate

i never used mine.
first thing i did when i bought mine was disabling it from the bios.

Is it possible to use the thinkvantage button?

I've heard of people using them as a glorified hot key with Linux, could probably set it to open the terminal.

It's easy to bind to whatever you want in Linux. Maybe a bit more complicated on Windows.

I mean the double mouse buttons

What stickers do you have on your thinkpad?

There's a normal i5 sticker under that.

Not in Norway you can't

A fsf one on top
A inshill i5 (i have a I7-4700mq)
and a energy star sticker

Thats what I've got mine bound to, dropdown terminal.

Buy one off ebay
It's way cheaper to import one in some European countries

Thanks for help man

someone make me a bondrewd (subarashi!!) bios splash, 1024x768 thx.

looking at a fair few options for some cheap T420, any sort of specs I should be looking for and what I should be xpected to pay for them? ty

1600x900 or 1366x768 lads?

aesthetics or battery life I guess

>not modding your sticker

640x480 lad, don't be lazy.

I have coreboot, 1024x768 is fine.

is this real lads?

It says they've planned to do something like this for their 25th anniversary being sometime next year so you'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Ah, wasn't aware that changed it.

That dude?

>Sup Forums

ree

BE CAREFUL. ONLY IMPORT FROM OUTSIDE THE EEA WITH DISPOSABLE INCOME BECAUSE THE JEWS WILL SLAP YOU WITH SHITTONS OF DUTIES

oy vey shut it down

yea.

its the same type on 640x480, it stretches to 16:9 itself, so you gonna anamorphically store it.

That i7 still good enough yeah? Doesn't throttle or overheat etc

count me in. I want Ozen in mine.
>inb4 thinkpad in abyss.

Assuming that's a T440p, I've got a 4810MQ in mine and it doesn't throttle.

where the fuck do i get a thinkpad from a country like new zealand
shipping here is expensive as hell

local classifieds

For T420 owners:
do you guys enable the "cpu power management" setting in the bios?
With it disabled both cores (i5-2520m) are at fixed frequencies at all times, which I like to see.

Bought a t530 will be here Saturday, based fast seller problem is no ac adapter and no SSD.

Should I do the following
>New battery just in case
>Buy 500gb SSD

Also how do I determine what wattage charger I need? Or what is the thiccest charger

Dual or quad core, iGPU or dGPU?

3520m no dgpu

65w, or whatever the smallest one is, is fine. You can get a bigger one but I don't think it'll make much of a difference.

Can I still upgrade to a quad in the future?

Would it be autistic if I used a thinkpad at school in class? What if my crush says "I've never seen a Mac like that before"

She'll hate you anyway because
>user that's not reddit

just wait to see the condition of the battery first
and you only have two options, the 65W or 90W charger

yes

no one cares about your laptop, also pen and paper is superior

>autistic
no
>What if my crush says "I've never seen a Mac like that before"
Better hope you have a tablet version so you can write a cute ass note that says "ficki ficki". Show her the power of ThinkPad™

>and you only have two options, the 65W or 90W charger
There's also the 135W adapter, but that's only needed for top-spec configurations with quad core CPU and dedicated GPU. A simple dual core iGPU model won't need more than the 90W.

>Paper is superior
My nigga

Yes, but you'll need the 90w brick.

none of course

Ty for helping me make my shit just werk

well with this kind of thought process, everybody already knows you're autistic. So you're probably good to go.

the 135W and 170W adapters are notched and can only be used on systems made for them

can someone please post a picture of a broken thinkpad t420 please

What kind of broken?

Like the kind of damage you'd get from dropping it. Snapped plastics etc

Worst you'll realistically see from a drop is a broken palmrest and keyboard bezel, since that's plastic, and very easy to replace. The surrounding body is magnesium.

ah ok thanks, I was just interested to see whether there was a weak spot on the laptop like the x220 above the card reader.

kek wtf

tpmiddle.exe

If this is the same fix as I'm thinking of, theres a caveat to this. It'll mean that you can't do the usual middle mouse + clit to scroll. Instead, it will toggle that dopey thing that appears when you middle click on a normal mouse. Personally for me, that felt worse than losing the proper middle click so I kept it as is.
