If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear

>If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.
well Sup Forums, arguments against this?

What's your address?
I might come over later just for a look around.

giving your data to the gubirmint =/= giving your data to random people on the internet

then i can hardly wait for all those classified CIA documents to be released!

Since the government will be breached, you could give it to anyone asking anyway. Also, why would the government not show you it's while there's clearly no point in keeping them?

...

Everyone has something to hide.

Yes, massive data leaks never happen. I fully trust the government to securely store all my sensitive data. Equifax is a hoax made by free software anti-botnet autists.

If you have nothing to hide, why is Sup Forums avoiding facebook, twitter, and twitter? I sure hope they don't have any controversal opinions about the 6 million.

I don't trust you to securely hold them considering your incompetence over the years. Also, if I have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to hide as well. Mind if I look into the CIA database and take a look around. Can you give me a politician's email password? I mean he has nothing to hide.

That's exactly what it is.
>"Hey co-worker NSA guy, check out this girl's nudes we didn't fairly obtain"

Wasn't it Ben Franklin who said something about those who give up liberty for security deserve neither? The people who run these programs deserve to be tried and shot as traitors, along with anyone defending them.

What are you hiding?

The government will not send 50 pizza delivery orders if they find my address.

The government is always in need of scapegoats, patsies, and expendable people. Bad things happen to innocent people every day and you're a fool if you think the government actually wants to protect you.

Then show us all gov secrets, since you also have nothing to hide either, right?

This

How dangerous is the CIA or the NSA to the rest of the World?

>implying you aren't (((voluntarily))) giving them your data already

Saying you have nothing to hide so you should have nothing to fear is like saying that because you have nothing to say you should abolish free speech

> "Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say,"
that's what she said

Wrong.

If you have nothing to say then you should shut the fuck up.

Does she live in Moscow?

I think you missed the analogy friend.

What's a witty aphorism that can be used to counter this, Sup Forums?

Normies function entirely on aphorisms. We need a good one, like "Really makes you think." or "I don't mind censorship because I have nothing to say"

Why are random people working for the government somehow more trustworthy than random people on the internet?
Any sick fuck or malicious person could be working for the NSA looking at your information and you'd have no idea.

The problem stems from the fact that surveillance is a one way interaction.

If I have nothing to hide I might happily invite someone into my home to look around, but only if I trust that person. In a surveillance situation, not only are you unable to decide whether or not you let someone into your home, you're unaware you're even being observed and you don't know who is doing the observing.
To extend the home analogy, it would be like living in a house made of one way mirrors. A person could be watching you at any moment without your knowledge. "If you have nothing to hide", then you should be fine living in such a home right? The people watching you might only be watching for illegal activities, but in reality they could be watching you bathe, masturbate, take a shit, or anything else you do in private.

You have no choice over the kind of information they collect, you're unaware of who is doing the collecting, you're unaware of when collection takes place, and you're unable to verify the data collected does not breach your privacy.
These are unreasonable terms.

*government changes to communism or fascism*

Are you sure you have nothing to hide anymore? Too bad if you do because the government now has an absolutely 100% accurate profile of you and there's no way you're digging yourself out of this, forever. Of course, this is just an extreme example, but a lot of shit can be passed by the government that you disagree with, starting with browsing the terrorist site known as Sup Forums and being flagged as a potential terrorist, or maybe the government becoming exceedingly good at preventing "piracy" and suing people like you for torrenting.

On the other side, the benefits of yielding such critical information of yourself are minimal at best, even nonexistent if I should say. So there's a potential of a lot of negative shit to happen to you, versus zero positives? Damn that does sound like a logical thing to support

>NSA plants cp on your computer
>get raped in jail
If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear XD

Don't worry I work for the gubermint. Your wife's got nice tits

You have to consider that obfuscating the available data is only going to paint a target on you. Regardless of whether it's deliberate a willfully altered or otherwise nonexistent fingerprint is a much greater outlier than watching some weird kink porn occasionally.

...

wordplay with no actual substance, saying "fuck the government" is not like hiding child porn.

give me a good fucking argument lad i need them

Why do we have free speech if we have nothing to say ?

When the government decides to go full Gestapo you'll be wishing you hadn't allowed them to snoop on you.
In commie China they called all the people to send letters to the government so they could hear the voices of the people and understand what they hoped and wanted from the government. They used those letters to round up and kill all the people they believed were a threat or didn't hold their ideal values for the communist party

If I have done nothing wrong I shouldn't be spied on

This is an argument youtube.com/watch?v=FNULgQWvz8c

one guy was forced to show the contents of his ass with the same "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Let us look at the contents of your ass" even though he was innocent.

who staffs the nsa? aliens?

thats literally "you're not guilty, we just need to make sure you aren't"

me.
