Why doesn't Sup Forums like Atom?

Why doesn't Sup Forums like Atom?

no 32bit support

It's a web browser that tries to be a text editor.

Im white

It's a worse version of VSC.

Its a web browser.

go back to Sup Forums

sublime3 is released

20% CPU USAGE FOR A BLINKING CURSOR

Electron

because vscode exists. stop making these fucking threads

Nobody needs atom

wasn't it 30%?

Because Atom is slow... Someone should remake it faster. Good rust project

Vscode is shit though.

>Vscode is shit though.
your opinion is shit. it's been gaining users like crazy and everyone loves it

Because it's slow and too heavy on resources

Also the UI is convoluted in an unnecessary manner

They're slowly rewriting critical parts in C++, so maybe it will suck less soon

Takes decades to start compared to its competitors.

It's either paper or vim. That's the Sup Forums way
Fuck bloat

Activating telemetry by default should not be an acceptable behavior. Even Apple asks if I want to enable it or not upfront.

Cause it's insanely slow, if you want to fall for the electron meme just use VSCode which is a lot faster.
But literally just stop being a retard and use Vim.

I use vscode but really want to learn (spac)emacs , give me strength Sup Forums

I prefer my text editor to not be hackable by old farts. Security is must.

I used it on my laptop with an i7-7700hq and 8gb DDR4 (GTX 1050 GPU, but that's not very relevant) with no other programs loaded (besides a few background programs that are fairly lightweight) and it would FREEZE for 10+ seconds after character entry when it had been idle for a few seconds with no input, and also occasionally during input.

Sublime doesn't do that. Vim doesn't do that. VS code does it, but less. Notepad++ doesn't do it, to my knowledge.

That's why I don't like Atom. It looks good, though.

Atom asks you on first launch

Yes and you can uncheck a box to disable it, it doesn't require you to "add an option" to disable it.

VS Code replaced it. Just like C# replaced Java.

100MB+ in an editor of text, fuck this shit

C# is already dying though.

Meme editor

It's a text editor with as much overhead as an IDE. Defeats the purpose of a text editor.

>using any of sjwhub's products

On top of that, it's bloated, it's slow, and VSC is a lot better than Atom. I don't even like using text editors that isn't vim but VSC or even Sublime is a lot more worthwhile.

Replaced by Rust?

vscode ===>>>> shit-atom

I like it

I use atom. Even for C++.

>hackable text editor
>pic related

Bazoople! xD

le edgy meme on laptop wow

shazam!!! rawr xD

...

>Hackable

electron

>C# replaced Java
love this me me

It randomly pegs one of my CPU cores to 100% when the editor is doing nothing. The Atom devs should learn to use a browser profiler

It's not vim or emacs

>electron
fucking electron

it's not vim.
emacs is acceptable if you actually want a lisp machine instead of a text editor nad nano works for brainlets.

everything is redundant or bloat.

Ive used atoms for like a year or 2. Haven't noticed any slowness on my 16 GB work machine

t. emacs

>he doesn't know if you compile vscode from source there is no telemetry at all (not even the option to turn it on)

...

Just use notepad if you want to edit text you autists

Stop being an obvious shill. It's proprietary shit that is worse than the free offerings atm. It's spyware without any real benefits

not enough ram for its bullshit

>A hackable text editor for the 21st Century
Why wouldn't you want to use Emacs, a hackable text editor for the 22nd Century?

>not even Microsoft posting hiring ads for C# developers
woah

this. microsoft pajeets are way better programmers than github SJWs...

Why would I need to hack my text editor? What are the top rated "hacks" for Atom? I get by with gedit and SublimeText.

i literally just use vim for everything

literally any other text editor exists

Fuck off nigger

>be Sup Forums
>discussion nowadays is 95% focused on building PCs with the latest hardware (aka hello Sup Forums)
>okay, spent all your money on that shit
>thread about Atom pops up
>all posters claim they can't run a browser-based text editor on their machines

Either you babbies need to watch another YouTube tutorial on "How to build a PC" or you're lying

Just because the hardware can handle it? If anything it's against the spirit of Sup Forums to run something superfluous instead of something basic that just gets the job done, just because they have the means.

>hipster garbage
>installs itself with no options to choose
>literally reskinned chrome browser
