Can I have similar blur on Openbox? Probably keeping my desktop on KDE but I could toss Openbox on my laptop.
What do you wish it would use instead? Something like dwm's style? Python- Lua, or otherwise? I'm sure implementing a cross script compiler for Openbox wouldnt be too hard.

Titlebars and terminals. Basically all translucency. I know for certain that GNOME can't into blur but I'm not sure about WMs/compositors.

Yeah, writing it is a pain. I'd suggest using a graphical configurator, but that doesn't solve anything at the base issue.

You need a blur kernel in your compton config file.
Try putting this in:
blur-kern=3x3box
If your computer can handle:
blur-kern=11x11gaussian

You can use Openbox with Plasma, but yeah, replacing KWin with another float WM is kind of pointless.

KDE and i3, actually. Wayland turned out to be a pain in the ass to set up for very little benefit, given my craptop is decently beefy.

Guess again, there are python scripts that you just put in autostart.sh that basicly do this. and there are more. You can do basicly anything , just google it. And i guess more people seem to use openbox with tiling scripts then other.
