>DP isn't standard yet

Where the fuck is my DP-C? Fuck these shitty one way only connectors.

And it never will be. In order for it to reach widespread adoption, you'd need to convince TV manufacturers, blu-ray player manufacturers, cable box manufacturers, etc. to adopt it. That's not going to happen.

They want to hide behind a licensed DRM cable so they can have something to blame when piracy hits.
As usual, it's anti-consumerism.

HDMI is as effective at preventing piracy as swiss cheese is at preventing pregnancy.

> DRM: The cable
No thanks

The FireWire.
Oh wait it was actually superior

It basically is. My shitty optiplex computer has DP.

>TV
>Optiplex

>video

DP, as it's actually packet based.

HDMI is for multimedia devices, Blu Ray players, TVs, set-top boxes, etc.
DP is for computers and their monitors. DP is the standard for computers for years already.

DP is easily converted to HDMI and vice versa though, and GPUs still have HDMI for your TV.

But cards that are from 2010 can play 4K@60 through DP1.2, but good luck finding a card from 2010 with HDMI 2.0.

HDMI is much more widespread.

Even Chinese plug and play tier consoles use HDMI now.

Up until very recently they came with composite video output.

Seeing this makes me think of Ashens.

But how is 2010 relevant nowadays?

>Even Chinese plug and play tier consoles use HDMI now.
Because if you would have read my text, HDMI is used for TVs and media devices.
This console is meant to be plugged into a TV, not a computer monitor.

>HDMI is much more widespread.
No argument there, most computers with DP also have HDMI and media devices, like TVs and Blu-ray players, most computer monitors with DP also have an HDMI port.
Does not change the fact that DP is standard for computers. Every monitor, GPU and laptop has it now.

Because I might have two GTX680 in SLI and don't want to switch those out to play 4K when they are perfectly fine at doing it with a better connector?

Hence we have standards, son.
That old HDMI just won't cut it.

And the better standard, namely DisplayPort has done it better than HDMI from the start, younger son.

Every TV I've seen has DP idk what the fucking chink shit you're buying

>google random 4K TV from Samsung.
>0 DisplayPorts

No question in that, we are shilling DP here after all.

>google random 4K TV from Sony.
>0 DisplayPorts

>google random 4K TV from Philips.
>0 DisplayPorts

>google random 4K TV from Panasonic.
>0 DisplayPorts

We already established that HDMI is the standard for TV's.
probably does not know the difference between TV and monitor or HDMI or DP ports, so ignore the post and the poster
